The most prosperous temple in Changde

The most popular temple in Changde is Jiashan Temple. Ranked sixth among the famous temples in Hunan, many pilgrims come here every year. Jiashan Temple, also known as Lingquan Temple, is located in Jiashan National Forest Park, Shimen County, Hunan Province. It is the core attraction of Jiashan Scenic Area, 8 kilometers away from Shimen County, surrounded by mountains and waters, with beautiful scenery. In the 11th year of Xian Tong in the Tang Dynasty (AD 870), the great monk of the Good Society was given the honor of leading a monk to build a temple. It enjoys the reputation of "emperor's repair in three dynasties" and is known as "riding the mountain gate" on a grand scale. By the Ming Dynasty, due to years of wars and fires, most temples were destroyed and Buddhism declined, with only more than 60 monks. In the early years of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, a monk named Feng Tianyu was stationed here and led many monks to build a temple, which enabled the Zen Pass to be restarted. The scale is much larger than that of the Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties, and there are Daxiong Hall, Great Compassion Hall, Fine Hall, Tianwang Hall, Wei Tuo Village, Shanmen, Yongtalin, Zishibei Square, Bell and Drum Tower, etc., and they have been expanded, which is called "Southern Chu Temple".
