Fish tank ·Huatian Meisu
The Fish Tank B&B was converted from a farmhouse. Due to the development of local tourism, the owner wanted to change the old and run-down structure. We invited designers Shen Mo and Zhang Jianyong to carry out renovations and re-plan the space to create a brand new B&B space.
Building appearance
The "fish tank" originated from the homophony of the name of the boss Yu Gang. He hopes that guests can slow down here, forget their worries, and just be like a fish with only seven seconds of memory. You need to enjoy the current moment. The overall design of the B&B is divided into sections based on the movement lines of fish swimming freely, allowing people to experience the feeling of moving freely from different spaces.
Bird's-eye view, free flow
Looking at the building from below, the modern design style contrasts with the natural environment
The overall space planning is based on small area functional landscapes Division, through step-by-view design, makes a small space interesting and lively. The outdoor leisure space is covered with white stones, which separates the activity space from the living space. The wooden corridor with grid is full of rhythm. The sunlight shines through during the day, showing different light and shadow.
Entrance Leisure Courtyard
The architectural design of the fish tank is mainly minimalist, eliminating superfluous decorations, the architectural lines are smooth, and it has the beauty of geometric space from any angle. The designer used the concept of "round sky and square earth" on the viewing platform. Sitting on a chair, looking through the square wall, one can see a green bamboo forest. The pool in front reflects the bamboo forest scenery and merges it into one. A beautiful landscape painting that seems to have an interesting dialogue with nature. Through the circular door, you can see the tea garden in the distance, and it can also lead to the restaurant, yard and other spaces, which is beautiful and functional.
Outdoor bar and dining area, you can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery
A special outdoor bar is set up, where you can enjoy different flower field landscapes all year round. Pushing through the door is the reception hall of the fish tank. The hall is divided into two areas, the reception center and the sun glass room.
The reception center is connected to the sun room
The glass room carries the light and shadow of the day, and the sunken surrounding space makes the atmosphere richer. In winter, surround the fireplace and embrace the warm sunshine. , drink tea and chat with friends and experience a leisurely life.
Glass sunroom
Details of the sunroom
The entire hall uses large-area floor-to-ceiling glass windows and glass doors to the extreme. The designer does not want the outside of the door to The color of the mountains and wilds is blocked by the thick and cold walls, but I hope that wherever the eyes look, the mountains and fields are green, so that I can embrace the mountains and forests in my arms even without going outside.
Large areas of glass doors and windows allow visitors to enjoy the natural scenery
The large areas of blank space and log furniture in the room, as well as the strongly styled stairs, beds and TV cabinets, make the space Decorated just right. The criss-crossing stairs and the stairs with small windows are full of fun. The stairs, indoors and outdoors seem to blend together, so every corner, every corridor, and every platform has become a scenery that cannot be missed.
Simple and modern rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and observation decks allow people to enjoy the outdoor scenery
The open bathtub enhances the sense of freedom
The fish tank has 6 rooms The rooms are named after fish, including shark, sturgeon, salmon, whale, kun and carp. The owner Yu Gang hopes that guests from all over the country can be like little fishes and put down their worries and live happily and comfortably after entering this "fish tank" space. Youyou. I hope that friends who have insomnia in the city will forget all their worries as soon as they come here and become a carefree fish with only seven seconds of memory.

The restaurant is the most complex space of this project. This space includes functions such as gathering, dining, check-in, and negotiation. It is composed of three buildings of different heights, with a 10-meter high space in the middle and 8-meter floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides. Facing the lush vegetation and the picturesque natural landscape, we hope to create a high-intensity collision between man-made and nature and an intuitive, subconscious, and physical sense of balance through the physicality of materials.
And it creates the same openness inside as it does outside, providing an instantly impressive retreat.

For us, this space presents a unique A dual orientation of restlessness and tranquility: on the one hand, it serves as an entertainment open space and complex functional organization of the restaurant; on the other hand, it integrates the diversity, unexpectedness and randomness of the mountain forest. As sites of activity inspire images of visibility, bustle, excitement and noise, mountains and forests exude scenes of seclusion, isolation, solitude and silence. A sense of balance between opposites is created in the space.

We believe that B&B serves as a medium that separates vision, emotion and thoughts from daily life. It allows us to experience the texture of time through space and scenery. We tried to keep the design as restrained as possible in the guest room, hoping to integrate the naturally existing parts with the artificially built parts. This is our interpretation of the environment, place and owners, which is to provide guests with a simple and warm place to rest.

Tasha Duduo B&B
"Slow work" is a new way of life and philosophy, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, on Mogan Mountain in Huzhou , a B&B full of "Grandma Tasha" style is growing. The founders are three girls from Deqing, China. They hope to create a new concept of China's "Tasha Garden", so they specially invited designer Shen Mo and designer Zhang Jianyong to jointly create it. Approaching this garden, happiness fills every corner.
Architectural appearance
Looking at the pool and courtyard from the terrace
Tasha Dudo transformed an ordinary peasant house, breaking the inherent rules and structure. A large area of ??blank wall has small windows at random intervals. Adapting measures to local conditions, combined with the endless green organic farms surrounding it, green is reflected into the interior through the design of large windows, reflecting ecology and ecology everywhere. "No need for too many words, everything becomes simple but not simple." explains the designer's understanding of Tasha Dudo.
A large area of ??blank wall is opened with small windows in an orderly manner
The designer retained the original tiled roof and beams, and painted the outer wall with a layer of earth. The colorful paint, surrounded by greenery, makes it appear gentler and calmer.
Courtyard rest area
Natural metaphors are often used as the starting point of design. A dry landscape and a rest area are arranged in a corner of the courtyard to create a quiet atmosphere and maximize the use of space. On the other side, original banana leaves are planted, designed as stepped seats, where you can rest and enjoy the company of nature.
We often say that life needs a sense of ritual. At Tasha Duduo, you can experience another definition of ritual. It is not solemn or silent, but full of warmth and vitality.

Birdcage style entrance door design. Magnifying a small birdcage into real life is a perfect combination of nature and humanity. The huge birdcage is like an installation that leads guests from afar into another world. When spring comes, roses will bloom all around the birdcage, making everything look vibrant and poetic.
Birdcage-style entrance door design
Ting-step walkway design. There is a landscape pool and a swimming pool between the courtyards, and a walking trail is placed between the interspersed pools. The designer intends to slow down the pace of pedestrians and feel the purest natural style with the sound of trickling water.

Entrance "wooden box" design. Before entering the room, you need to pass through a "wooden box" and go up the stairs. You will be greeted by green plants. Cleverly integrating people, objects and space, the space is no longer monotonous but interconnected, reflecting design thinking everywhere.
Entering the hotel from the "wooden box"
Stepping indoors, the space is divided into dynamic and static areas. The original rooms on the first floor are opened up and turned into a fully open and enjoyable space. . And a sunken design is made to focus the space here. In winter, you can feel the warmth brought by the stove, look out at the extreme scenery in the distance through the large arched glass, and enjoy a lazy and comfortable time. The interspersed design of the wall and stove enhances the interest of the space.

It is worth mentioning that Tasha Duduo has three owners, three trees and three senses of ritual, making everything more worth pondering. I believe that it will become more and more charming after years of polishing.

Finally Meet You Boutique B&B
The project is located on the scenic Yanliu Road in Beijing, surrounded by rolling hills and a small stream winding through a quaint village. In order to build it into a wild luxury resort hotel in nature, how to fully tap and utilize natural resources and realize the ideal vacation feeling of being built on the mountain and living by the water has been throughout our design.
The feeling of living in the mountains on the edge of the city
The overall courtyard is backed by mountains and faces water. The raw stones and logs are natural, and the red bricks and green tiles are made from local materials. It does not have a graceful and luxurious temperament, but it is beautiful. A gentle, earthy delight. As soon as you enter the gate, a large lawn full of ceremonial feeling comes into view, blending with the unrestrained mountainous landscape behind it, making you feel the throbbing of returning to the countryside.

On one side of the lawn is a sunken outdoor living room. Sit down together, talk and sing around the bonfire, creating a natural hospitality atmosphere. The urban party and the natural mountains and forests complement each other. Without too many structures, the outdoor space on top and bottom gives arriving guests more freedom to express their imagination and creativity.

Taking advantage of the existing fruit trees in the courtyard, an experience farmland was created on the side near the guest room, where you can listen to the rain in spring, see flowers in summer, and harvest in autumn. Fruits and snow fall in winter, creating a true "mountain and forest retreat" in all four seasons.

Space transformation that blends time and space
The unique site history creates Unique space character. The current house is a supply and marketing cooperative left over from the 1980s. It is a gathering place for trade and circulation, with bustling crowds of people communicating with each other. Different from other homestead renovation projects in the north, it has a complete courtyard space and two rows of farmhouses, covering an area of ??5,000 square meters. We don’t want to rebuild from the ground up, but rather build on this foundation to renovate and expand. The main structure of the house is made of rough stone walls and wooden structure, and the newly built part adopts steel structure. Taking advantage of the depth and height of the existing rooms, remove the original partition walls and expand the usable area of ??each room as much as possible. In order to fully display the characteristics of northern rural residences, the wooden beams and purlins of the old house were retained on the roof, but structural reinforcement and functional renovation were performed. The structural parts that usually serve as "supporting roles" in the architectural foundation have been retained to the greatest extent in the design. The "skeleton" of the old era has become tougher in the new era, and the "hero behind the scenes" has suddenly become the "protagonist on the stage."
Renovate and expand on the basis of the original house
Return to the traditional ingenious selection of materials
Stone and wood are commonly used in traditional houses. However, in modern times, they are rarely used in buildings. You can see raw stones and logs, but the emotions that stone and wood bring to modern people's hearts are still lingering. Raw stones, logs, and tiles are made from local materials, and fine processing is abandoned. The simple natural materials are paired with exquisite handmade furniture. Under the background of the light, the rough and expanded momentum is full of delicacy and delicacy.

The gable facade of the children's room is in the process of being demolished At the same time, the brick wall texture is retained and decorated through artistic techniques. The decoration of individual colors can turn the originally dull wall into a vibrant one. The specially set up loft bed and tent game area enriches the experience and fun on the premise of meeting the functions of children's residence. Tatami rooms can accommodate two families at the same time or a gathering of several friends for vacation. The storage space is hidden in the wall, expanding the spatial experience.
The specially designated loft bed and tent play area in the children's room enrich the experience and fun while satisfying the children's living function
In the end, the building is not Then again, in a country farmhouse, the courtyard is not only the enclosure of the space. Different materials reconcile in the natural environment and become the "protagonist" in the spotlight. The clear traces left by time blur the experience of time and space, bringing the sophistication of modern life and the simplicity of natural agriculture and forestry to guests at the same time, allowing them to experience the city in the mountains and countryside. The ritual sense of "life" that cannot be felt in the movie.

Lodge·Xitang B&B Hotel
In recent years, The number of renovation projects in China is gradually increasing, and the themes of the projects are gradually transitioning from urban to rural areas. However, the countryside we encounter is no longer a traditional countryside. It is essentially a countryside from the perspective of urban people and a countryside that meets the imagination of urban people. In such a general environment, the building type of B&B has become an extremely convenient carrier for urban life to intervene in rural development. What it satisfies is the imagination of urban people about rural life.
As for this project, the core issue we need to face is how to transform the original building into a garden for urban people to escape urban life, and create a "non-urban" experience from the perspective of urban people.
A bird's eye view of the building
A bird's eye view of the building
The project is located in Guojiagou, Ji County, Tianjin. The site is located in the center of Guojiagou Village, with a natural water surface in the north and south. , adjacent to mountains to the west and villages to the east. There is a large open space and a main road between the project site and the village to the east. The roads within the village are distributed in a fan shape and eventually converge into this open space. The current building complex is a single-story building with a green tile sloping roof and gray brick walls. We have respected the existing conditions to the greatest extent and retained or even highlighted the main structure and materials of the building. On this basis, we have placed Steel structure white square boxes, glass curtain walls, wooden grilles and other modern materials and shapes are used to achieve a balance and integration between the new and the old.
Hotel appearance
Hotel entrance
A sense of order and collage from a bird's-eye perspective, seeking a dialogue between the old and the new. In the public space area, we made three treatments for the square and entrance: 1. Introducing still water surface to form different water-friendly ways to activate the public activity of the square. 2. The main facade uses old and new materials to create a rich collage effect. 3. Treat the main entrance as a space and framer for people to take a break and provide introduction. The atrium is a space with dual attributes. When the doors to the tea room and the main entrance are closed, it is an inner courtyard that can host gatherings; when the doors are open, it is an inward extension of the entrance plaza. The back mountain is mainly landscaped. There is a terrace for people to rest and enjoy the scenery. There is also a dry landscape landscape as a transition between the terrace and the natural mountain scenery. The natural landscape is mainly restored and preserved.
Atrium
Reception Lobby
Through semi-outdoor spaces such as outdoor corridors, we connect the buildings together and connect multiple independent buildings that were originally scattered. , transformed into a single building with close internal connections; and by adding new walls or volumes, the originally public outdoor spaces between buildings and along the lake were converted into private inner courtyards, patios, rooms, etc. Space, the entry process of each room is the experience of a series of garden spaces from public to semi-public to private. The originally private central courtyard was transformed into a central public area surrounded by public spaces such as a tea room, lobby, main entrance, and restaurant. This new courtyard space connects the square belonging to the villagers and the back mountain. It has become a public center that residents and villagers can enjoy.

The public area mainly includes the lobby, tea room and restaurant. Its main features are: 1. Transparency, indoor and outdoor integration. 2. The large open space can accommodate public activities. 3. Difference, the three spaces form their own tonality. The semi-public space area is the middle zone connecting the public space area and the private space area. It is mainly represented by some outdoor corridors and public courtyards. This is also the part with the strongest expression of garden-style space characteristics. It is reflected in five treatments: 1. Height difference treatment. 2. Ceiling opening treatment. 3. Scene processing. 4. Frame processing. 5. Pavement treatment. Ultimately, this area forms an experience of stop-and-go, winding paths leading to secluded areas, and a scene-by-step experience. The private space area mainly consists of guest rooms and courtyards. The internal space of existing buildings has the following problems: 1. The area is not large enough or too large. 2. The room type is too long and narrow. 3. The room type is monotonous. We respond to these problems through regional segmentation and differentiated room types.
Guest Rooms
The core difference between B&B hotels and traditional hotels is that they have courtyards, which make the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces richer and more diverse. In this project, we designed five courtyard types : 1. One-way type. 2. Front and back type. 3. One font. 4. Island type. 5. Three-hospital type. Finally, although these rooms are close to each other, through the handling of the relationship between the courtyards, each room has the feeling of being independently in nature. For the courtyard itself, we mainly did three treatments. The first was the hydrophilic treatment: the entire courtyard was laid with anti-corrosion wood as a rest platform, the central pavilion on the lake was removed to restore the openness of the water surface, and the height difference was used to create a setback to eliminate the steepness. A still water surface is introduced inside to form an infinite pool. The second step is the subdivision of the space: each courtyard has a landscape tree, the small courtyard uses soft scenery and furniture to enrich the spatial hierarchy, and the large courtyard uses lightweight structures such as grilles and awnings to subdivide the space. Finally, in terms of facade treatment, based on the extremely transparent glass curtain wall, we introduced white grilles or partitions, which eliminated the heaviness brought to the building by the brick wall and enriched the volume at the virtual and solid levels. Levels of facade.
