Brief introduction of Dongwangyangshan in Wangdetang District

Dongwangyangshan, also known as Songshan Mountain, is 9 1 m above sea level, located in the eastern part of Macao Peninsula, which is the highest hill in Macao Peninsula and the geographical coordinate of Macao. Yangshan, the East King, was called Qinshan in ancient times, and it was named after its lying position like a lyre. It used to be a bare hill with only bare soil and stones. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, trees were planted in Macao, and pine trees were all over the mountains. A few years later, the mountain was covered with pine trees. From then on, it was called Wansongling, or Songshan for short, and became a scenic spot in Macao. There is a highway around the mountain halfway up Songshan Mountain, and there are several wind and rain pavilions on the roadside. The trees are shaded, the sea breeze bursts, the pines are rolling, and the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, which is refreshing. There is an East Wang Yang Lighthouse built in 1865, also known as Songshan Lighthouse. Tower height 13 meter is the first lighthouse in the history of the Far East and a symbol of Macao. For more than 100 years, the lighthouse has been used by sailors for navigation, and it radiates circularly around Macao for 25 nautical miles. Before the typhoon comes, typhoon signals will be hoisted next to the lighthouse to bring safety to fishermen and sailors. Songshan Mountain and Lighthouse constitute the "Lighthouse Songtao", one of the eight scenic spots in Macao. There is a small church next to the lighthouse, called the Church of Our Lady in the Snow, which was built by the Portuguese in 1622. 16 Songshan Lighthouse, Songshan Fort and Songshan Church, which were built in the 1920s, constitute the three major monuments of Songshan.

Standing in the east looking at Yangshan, you can get a panoramic view of Macao. Looking south, two outlying islands stand on the sea, and two southern bridges are like colorful exercises; Looking to the west, Zhuhai, Guangdong has a panoramic view, and the bay town and the Haojiang waterway are just like a strip of water; Looking north, you can see the gate connected to the land in Gongbei, Zhuhai, where the buildings are now one after another; Looking eastward, you can see the Hong Kong and Macao Wharf and its heliport.
