brief Introduction of the content

Andrew and Joe are two young lawyers in Philadelphia. They work hard and have a bright future. However, Andrew was afraid to tell his boss that he was gay and had AIDS. Shortly after he was promoted, his boss discovered the secret and fired him because he lost the file. Andrew found Joe and hoped that he would accept the case. Joe refused to accept, but agreed at the request of his wife Louise and Andrew.

Andrew's family supported him in the lawsuit. During the trial, many demonstrators gathered outside the court, demanding that homosexuals be given legal rights and not to discriminate against AIDS patients. But the defendant insisted that Andrew was fired for this reason. Andrew's weak body can no longer bear the intense intravenous injection of anti-AIDS drugs, and he has a premonition that he is about to die. But he survived the fierce court defense.

On the day of the trial, the jury finally ruled that the plaintiff Andrew was unfairly dismissed and the defendant should be responsible for compensating the losses. Andrew finally won. Joe went to the hospital to tell Andrew and his family the news, but Andrew couldn't hold on any longer. He is dying slowly.

Tom Hanks won the 66th Oscar for Best Actor with 1993 for his performance in the film.
