Even if the Peach Blossom Lake has thousands of feet, it can't compare with Wang Lun's gift.

Creation background

When Li Bai was visiting Taohuatan in Jingxian County (now Anhui Province), Wang Lun in nearby Jia Cun often entertained Li Bai with his own brewed wine, and they forged a deep friendship. Collected Notes of Li Bai, 300 Poems of Tang Poetry and Complete Poems of Tang Poetry published in past dynasties all recognized that Wang Lun was an ordinary villager that Li Bai met when he traveled in Jingxian County. This view continues to this day. Today, Wang Guangze, an Anhui scholar, has studied Wang's genealogy, Wang's genealogy and Wang's continuous branch tree in Jingxian County, and confirmed that "Wang Lun, also known as, is a native of the Tang Dynasty. During the Tianbao reign of Kaiyuan, Wang Lun was the magistrate of Jingxian County, and Li Bai "waited for him, but could not bear to leave him" (see "About Wang Lun" by Li See Zilong in the second series of Li Bai's Diary). According to this poem or when visiting for Li Bai, Wang Lun lived in Taohuatan. Li Bai Tianbao traveled from Guangling and Jinling to Xuancheng in the 13th year (754), so this poem should not be earlier than before.

According to Yuan Mei's Addendum to Poems in the Garden in the Qing Dynasty, Wang Lun, a hero of Jingxian County, was very happy when he heard that Li Bai, a great poet, lived in Lijiazhong, Nanling. He wrote to Li Bai: "How was your trip? There are miles of peach blossoms here. How about your drink, sir? There are thousands of hotels here. " Li Bai left happily. When he arrived in Jingxian County, Li Bai asked where Wang Lun Taoyuan Hotel was. Wang Lun replied, "Peach blossom is the name of a pool of water, and there is no peach blossom. Wanjia is the boss surnamed Wan, and there is no Wanjia Hotel. " Li Bai laughed.

On the day of Li Bai's departure, Wang Lun gave Li Bai eight famous horses and ten bundles of silks and satins, and sent servants aboard. After a farewell dinner at home, Li Bai boarded a boat parked on Taohuatan. The ship was about to leave the shore when he suddenly heard a song. Li Bai looked back and saw Wang Lun and many villagers marching on the shore, singing to see him off. Li Bai was very moved by the host's profound friendship and simple form of seeing him off. He immediately spread out the paper and ink and wrote this poem to Wang Lun.

works appreciation

The traditional proposition of China's poems presented to Wang Lun is implicit. Yan Yu, a poetic theorist in the Song Dynasty, put forward four taboos in writing poetry: "The language should be straight and the meaning should be shallow. Avoid dew in the pulse, and the taste is short. " Shi Buhua, a poet in A Qing, also said that poetry "should not be expensive". The characteristics of Li Bai's "A Gift to Wang Lun" are: frankness, directness and less implicature. Its "language is straight" and its "pulse is dew", but its "meaning" is not shallow and its taste is stronger. When the ancients wrote poems, they generally avoided calling them by their names, thinking that they had no taste. But To Wang Lun begins with the poet calling his own name and ends with calling the other person's name. On the contrary, he is honest, kind, free and easy, and very affectionate.

The first half of the poem is narrative: first write about the people who are leaving, and then write about the people who are seeing them off, showing a picture of parting. The first sentence "by boat" means by water. "Will want to go" means that the canoe is ready to go. This sentence makes the reader seem to be saying goodbye to the people on a ship that is about to leave the shore.

"Suddenly I heard the song on the shore", and then I wrote goodbye. The second sentence is not as direct as the first sentence, but with a curved pen, just saying that I heard the song. A group of villagers walked and sang to the beat to see me off. This seems to be beyond Li Bai's expectation, so he said "suddenly smell" instead of "far smell". Although this poem is more subtle, I only hear its voice, but people who have not seen it are already coming out. Wang Lun's arrival was really unexpected. Smell it before people arrive. This farewell shows that Li Bai and Wang Lun are both informal, happy and free people.

The second half of this poem is lyrical. The third sentence is connected from a distance, which further shows that the ship is placed in Taohuatan. "Deep thousands of feet" not only describes the characteristics of the pool, but also indicates the conclusion. The Peach Blossom Pond is so deep that it touches people's hearts and unforgettable Wang Lun's deep affection. The water depth is naturally connected with affection. At the end of the sentence, "not as good as Wang Lun's" broke out. By comparing things, it vividly expressed sincere and pure affection. The pool is "deep in thousands of feet", and the friendship between Wang Lun and Li Bai is bound to be deeper. This sentence is intriguing. The beauty here lies in the word "less than", and the beauty lies in replacing metaphor with concrete means, turning intangible friendship into vivid image, ethereal and memorable, natural and true. The poet was very moved, so he praised Wang Lun's admiration and love for the poet with two lines of "Peach Blossom Pond is deeper than thousands of feet, and Wang Lun loves me less", and also expressed Li Bai's deep affection for Wang Lun.

Famous comments

Comment on Tang Poetry: Good sentences are well-intentioned, then put them down and achieve them again. Only the love in Peach Blossom Spring can remain unchanged for thousands of years. Isn't He Yun a poet?

Supplement to Tang Poetry Pronunciation: Words are based on feelings.

Zhu Jian's Notes on Selected Poems of Ming and Li: This poem is straightforward and has no obscure sentences, but the generous poet Gree is far from the poets of Tang Dynasty.

Xie Zhen's four poems in the Ming Dynasty: Poetry has four forms: joy, fun, pleasure and Li Yue. Taibai's "To Wang Lun" said: "Peach Blossom Pond is deeper than thousands of feet, not as good as Wang Lun." This is also very popular.

Du Li's two poets' evaluation of the forest: poetry is not deep, but elegant.

Tang Ruxun's interpretation of Tang poetry in Ming Dynasty: too white but not true to the scenery, handy, so it is out of tune through the ages. Later generations have an effect, such as "If you want to know the water depth, you should be far away". The language is not bad, but it is always a glass of willow.

Zhou Zun's "General Comment on Selected Poems of Tang Poetry" in Ming Dynasty: Zhou Jing said: If you don't carve or cut it, it will naturally become a sound, and the words will come from your feelings, so it is wonderful. Zhou Wei said: At the top of the mountain, there are hundreds of feet without branches, while at the foot of the mountain, there is no shadow. What does this poem mean? Trying to imitate is ugly.

"Don't pick up the gold in Tang poetry": It is old-fashioned to put the names of the subject and the object directly in the poem, and it is also seen that the ancients are still qualitative, so they can write poems calmly. If we are cautious and timid today, can our poems improve the ancients? Oh, ask this river flowing eastward, whether it can go further than the love of friends! ? The meaning is the same, so it's better to put the words "peach blossom pool water" in Miao's ear.

Zuo Chuang Suo Yu: The poem is unique, because its surname is borrowed from the ancients; If you call him by his first name, it will be dull and tasteless. I wonder if there are such wonderful people in Tang poetry, such as "Peach Blossom Pond is deeper than thousands of feet, not as good as Wang Lun" and "What is the only thing an old man can sing about Weicheng?" And "I don't understand the goodness of Tibetans all my life and talk about things everywhere."

Jiao Yuanxi's collection of poems about this Muxuan in Qing Dynasty: Peach Blossom Pond Deep in thousands of feet. What's under cover? But the cloud "is not as good as Wang Lun", what strength, what weight, and how many long chapters have passed! Just a word said in front of me. Why did you carve it? This is why it is a unique tune for future generations.

Shen Deqian Tang Poetry in Qing Dynasty: If Wang Lun's feelings are compared with those of Tanshui thousands of feet, it is an ordinary language, and the wonderful scenery is only in a transition.

Notes on Tang Poems: What you see and feel in a different place is both vivid and vivid, but the words are naturally true, and it is not necessarily true for Taibai Fairy. The words "will" and "suddenly" are wonderful.

Qing Song Zongyuan's Notes on Wang Shiyuan's Tang Poems: Love depends on quips.

Li E, a poet in A Qing, wrote "A Brief Record of the Changes of Poetic Style": Wang Lun's love for each other is so deep that it is tasteless. It is set off by the Peach Blossom Pond, and there are endless twists and turns.

Poems with the Garden by Yuan Mei in Qing Dynasty: Wang Lun, a famous scholar in Jingchuan in Tang Dynasty, heard that Li Bai was coming and wrote a book to welcome him. Paradox says, "How is your husband? There are miles of peach blossoms here. Is it delicious, sir? There are thousands of hotels here. " Arrive in Li Xinran. Said to the cloud: "Those who are' peach blossoms', also known as pools, have no peach blossoms; In the case of' Wanjia', the owner's surname is Ye Wan and there is no Wanjia Hotel. " Li Daxiao stayed for a few days and personally gave him eight famous horses and ten official brocade. Leon wrote a quatrain in Peach Blossom Pond.

Poetic style: the first sentence begins with "Li Bai wants to do something", and the next sentence "Jiang" is already on board but hasn't been done yet, so this is the topic. There was a song on the shore, and Wang Lun sent Li Bai, laying the root of the word "send me" and inheriting the first sentence. Three sentences "Peach Blossom Pond Deep in thousands of feet" inspire the word "love"; Three changes, although a formula to popularize words, are actually related. Four words: Wang Lun's love is deeper than picking flowers; Although it is as deep as thousands of feet, it is not as deep as Wang Lun's love, but it is not for the sake of the water, so as to describe Wang Lun's love. The word "deep thousands of feet" has been written enough, and the next sentence is more powerful. The so-called four sentences are like a boat going downstream, which can be realized here. Turn around.
