Tourist resources in Xichang Plain

Xichang is an open city and tourist area approved by the State Council and is rich in tourism resources. Known as the "Scenic Spot in Southern Sichuan", Lushan Mountain stands on the south bank of Qionghai Lake with a main peak of 2377.5 meters. There are dense Yunnan pines on the mountain, as well as well-preserved rare ancient trees such as yellow cedar, Chinese cypress and Tang cypress. Hidden in the forest are Han and Tang dynasties. There are more than ten ancient temples and temples such as the Yinxi Temple built in the Ming and Qing dynasties on the mountain; at the foot of the mountain there is the rare earthquake stele forest in the country and the Liangshan Yi Slave Society Museum. Famous landscapes within the city include the ancient white pagoda built by King Jingzhuang of Nanzhao in the city, the statue commemorating the Red Army’s Long March to form an alliance over the Yi Sea, and the large-scale steel cast based on the folk story of the Yi people - The Daughter of the Moon. In addition, there are strange peaks, high waterfalls, primitive forests that block the sun, Luoji Mountain scenery with well-preserved ancient glacier relics, and various lifelike loess soil forests.

The beauty of Xichang’s moon lies mainly in nature. Xichang is located in the Anning River Plain, which is second only to the Chengdu Plain in area and is known as the second largest plain in Sichuan. It has a subtropical monsoon climate. The year-round average temperature is 17°C, and the average temperature in the coldest January is around 10°C. However, the average temperature in July and August is only 24 or 25°C. It is one of the areas with the smallest annual temperature changes in China. More importantly, Xichang has two distinct seasons: rain and drought. The rainy season is only from June to September every year, with mostly night rains and afternoon showers. The remaining months are the dry season, with up to 320 sunny days and almost no foggy days. Xichang is located in the Western Sichuan Plateau with a high altitude. Coupled with the filtration of the atmosphere by mountains and forests and the Qionghai Sea, there are few suspended substances in the atmosphere, high air transparency, little pollution, very few foggy days, and excellent visibility. Everyone who arrives in Xichang for the first time is often surprised by how the blue sky above their heads can look as spotless as if it has just been cleaned. It is said that in Xichang you can read books and newspapers under the moonlight, and you can see the bright moon more than 300 nights a year. Yang Sheng'an was demoted to Baoshan, traveled to Qionghai many times, and witnessed the moon over the city of Xichang that was rounder than that of his hometown, Chengdu. It is precisely because of this unique meteorological and geographical conditions that Xichang has become China's most ideal satellite launch base. As satellites fly into space one after another, Xichang, a small mountain town that was originally unknown, has become a famous aerospace city and gradually attracted the attention of people around the world.

When night gradually falls, a huge bright moon will hang high in the night sky, casting thousands of hectares of silver light. Although the moon can be seen from all over the country and is bathed in the silvery light, only the moon in Xichang is bigger, rounder and brighter, like a jade plate washed by water, making it more poetic and picturesque.
