More beautiful than Phuket and less crowded than Similan, giving you a super beautiful niche island
The Surin Islands is the biggest surprise of this trip to Similan! It is true that compared to the well-known Thai islands such as the Similan Islands and Phuket, the Surin Islands are more niche. But it is this unknown low-key that makes the Surin Islands the last virgin land in the Andaman Sea. Although its reputation is not as good as the islands such as Similan and Phuket, the beautiful scenery under the sea is not inferior, or even better!
The Surin Islands are located on the Thai-Myanmar border 60 kilometers north of Similan National Park. They consist of 5 islands, of which North Surin Island and South Surin Island are the largest. The Thai government has also established a national park in the Surin Islands, called Surin National Marine Park.
Generally speaking, the further away from the mainland and towards the center of the sea, the better the scenery is undoubtedly. Of course, the intact preservation of the original scenery of the Surin Islands cannot be separated from the full maintenance of the Thai government: the marine conservation policy of the Surin Islands is consistent with that of the Similan Islands. The island is closed for half a year and is only open to tourists from October of each year to May of the following year. Generally speaking, references to Similan National Park also include the Surin Islands.
The advantage of the Surin Islands being low-key and niche is that it perfectly avoids all tourists and enjoys this charming sea area and underwater landscape alone. There are 13 people in a boat, only 5 Chinese, and the others are foreigners. Is there any other boat? There are only two or three speedboats a day, and it definitely feels like this sea is being taken over!
The disadvantage is that if you want to uncover its mysterious veil in person, you have to go through a lot of hardships: take a two-hour minibus from Phuket Town to the port, and then take a two-hour speedboat , can be reached. This is just one way, it takes eight hours to go back and forth.
At this time, some people must be dismissive: Time is wasted on the road, what else is there to do and see! Then skip the text I wrote and go directly to the beautiful pictures! All the underwater pictures were taken by snorkeling, just snorkeling. All the beautiful scenery is closely laid out to bring you waves of surprises. All the hard work is worth it!
Of course, there are tents for tourists to rent on Surin Island, and cabins can also be booked, but the conditions... As people who don’t want to travel too hard, we are still willing to bite the bullet and go there on the same day. , go back and enjoy the seafood feast, and then sleep until you wake up naturally the next day.
The ancient Moken village
An interesting stop on the Surin Islands is to visit the ancient Moken village. The islands where the Moken live are far away from the mainland and are also known as water gypsies. After two hours at sea, we were surprised to see that there were still original inhabitants on the island.
The houses of the Moken people are made of thatch and are very primitive. In order to cope with the rising tide, the first floor of the house is built with wooden piles high, and some fishing tools are placed to dry, so that you can truly enjoy the sea.
However, under the primitive poverty life, there is not much happiness at all. The Moken children are very good at water and are very tanned. They flop around in the sea and have no parents to look after them. Groups of small and large, snatching old bottles found from nowhere, can have fun for a long time. Even though they are far away, they can still hear their childish and childlike shouts.
In addition to harvesting beautiful scenery during travel, you also gain different cultural customs. The Moken people are very poor. They are not successful as defined by the world, but they are happy and happy. God is always fair.
Visiting Surin Island
During snorkeling at Surin Island, the tour guide will arrange a break for lunch on the island. Although you can’t climb up to Surin Island to look far and see the Similan-like jelly sea, but isn’t such a large beach enough to let you have fun~
Watching the sea water covering the beach on the beach, from Near and far, the color gradually becomes darker with the depth of the coastline; speedboats with red background and green canopy are arranged in twos and threes, resting on the shoal; the white clouds in the distance are like ribbons across the sky, like giant marshmallows. It was so thick that it seemed like it would never be finished.
As long as there are not many people, any island is attractive. In this quiet painting, between heaven and earth, there is a sense of casual indifference wherever you express your feelings or be in a daze.
Snorkeling on Surin Island
On Surin Island, even snorkeling will make people happy! The world under the sea is colorful and wonderful.
For example, how can the fish on the bottom of the sea be so colorful? Do they know how beautiful they are~
For example, how can a "breathing flower" grow out of such a hard reef? ".
For example, I have seen starfish and sea urchins, but I have never seen a blue starfish-like creature covered with thorns.
For example, luckily I was wearing a jellyfish suit and didn’t notice this little hairy thing lying on the reef. The sting would definitely be painful.
For example, corals are not only branch-shaped, but there are also many types of corals that are difficult to describe, with unique shapes and rich colors.
For example, there is always a surprise hidden in the corner of the coral, just like the gift box under the Christmas tree.
For example, you can see the cute Nemo from a very close distance. They burrow around in the anemone, full of curiosity about visitors, and love to play hide-and-seek with the camera. They are very happy~
For example, this blue staghorn coral is so eye-catching, who picked it? It's dyed~
For example, the sun casts soft light and shadow along with the waves, making the scene on the seabed bright and moving.
This Finding Nemo is really exciting!
The wonder of the seabed is that everywhere you look, there is no order or structure, but it carries countless interesting and lovely creatures. I deeply feel that the magic of nature's creation is endlessly changing, always giving people With unexpected joy and gain.
Just by snorkeling, you can see such a magnificent scenery, and you are already satisfied. Even the 8 hours of hard work is worth it!
No wonder no matter how hard they travel, there are always people attracted to the Surin Islands.
