At that time, the royal family convened dozens of equal candidates, including many royal relatives and nobles, and then presented them to the king for ruling, but King Bhumibol did not choose them at that time.

By chance, the young king met the beautiful queen. At that time, the Queen was Prince sirikit. She lived in Britain with her father, who was then Thailand's ambassador to Britain. Later, her father was transferred to France, and the king went to France to do business while studying in Switzerland. Prince sirikit, who is only fifteen years old, accompanied his parents to pick up the driver. They met and fell in love at first sight. Because your majesty loves music, he had a good talk with Prince sirikit, who is interested in music, and left an excellent impression on each other. Later, the king went to France many times, and his relationship with Prince sirikit became deeper and deeper. On March 3, 249 1 (1948), the king was unfortunately injured in his right eye while driving in Switzerland. After the news was sent back to Thailand, it attracted national attention. During his treatment in the hospital, the king called Prince sirikit many times and asked him to visit and take care of him. After the king recovered, Prince sirikit resigned and returned to England.

As the relationship between the two sides became more and more mature, the king announced his engagement to Prince sirikit on July18,2491(1949), and held a simple and romantic engagement ceremony at Windsor Hotel in Lausanne on Sunday morning 10. It was not until a month later, that is, in August of 12, at the birthday celebration of Prince sirikit 17, that the king personally announced his engagement to the outside world, which surprised the whole country in Thailand at that time. On March 24th, 1493 (1950), the king finished his studies and returned to Bangkok, Thailand. Tens of thousands of people warmly welcomed Prince sirikit's royal ship when it arrived in Bangkok. This is also the first time that the Thai people have seen a dignified and beautiful unmarried queen of Thailand with an elegant smile. On March 29th of the same year, the palace office was ready to hold a royal wedding.

On April 28th, 2493 (1950), the wedding of the ninth king of Thailand was held in Sabatun Palace. The king was dressed in a white dress, and the queen sirikit was dressed in a traditional Thai dress of white silk and light gold, with pink shoulder straps, to worship the royal elders with the emperor. After the wedding ceremony, the king and queen solemnly signed the marriage register in accordance with the civil law in the presence of many government administrative officials and relatives of the royal family. Marshal Pi Fibul-Sonkaram, then Prime Minister of the State Council, and the county magistrate of Batung Wan County in Bangkok also signed the marriage register as witnesses. After that, the king and queen sat side by side in the seats of traditional Thai couples, and the elders of the two clans performed traditional sprinkling ceremonies in turn, smearing auspicious gold powder on the forehead of the couple. After the traditional wedding ceremony, the imperial edict of the king was officially read out by the palace minister, and Prince sirikit was canonized as the Queen of Thailand, and the king personally awarded medals. Royal relatives and government officials who came to congratulate also presented gifts to the king and queen respectively, and the king and queen returned commemorative silver boxes engraved with the signs of the king and queen.
