Brief introduction of Li Jingshu

Li Jingshu (1864- 1902) was born in Hefei, Anhui. Li Hongzhang's second son is also his eldest son (Li Hongzhang was childless at the age of 40, and the eldest son Li was originally the son of his sixth brother Zhao Qing, and later adopted to Li Hongzhang). It is said that Li Jingshu was deeply saddened by his father's death. He was too filial and died with gold.

It is said that Scholar Li Jing came with two teeth, and his eyes are very magical. His relatives and friends were very surprised and thought that it was probably the dragon who descended from the world. When Zeng Guofan saw it, he said to Li Hongzhang, "This public auxiliary device is also" and predicted that it will become a great device in the future. Li Hongzhang's mother, Shi Li, was very happy. She said to everyone, "So is his father. This son will be like his father." But human words sometimes don't work. Later, Li Jingshu lost his father's life and fame. He is not even as famous as his eldest son, Li Guojie, but left a famous dutiful son's name for later generations (he was included in Biography of Qing History, Filial Piety). In fact, the world does not know that he is still a very talented poet. Father Li Hongzhang appreciated his poems when he was alive, but he was introverted, kept a low profile and didn't show people easily, so people couldn't see his true colors.

Until his death, when his eldest son sorted out his relics, he was surprised to find that his father had such a splendid legacy, so he was included in Li III's legacy collection in Hefei. Only then can people see clearly the literati mind of this "Lianyuan" adult and know that he is a talented poet with a strong sense of historical responsibility.
