Route selection for hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge

The first route is from east to west, along the Jinsha River. There are boats across the river in Lijiang: Walnut Garden (Shanbailian Muben or Shanquan Hotel) Zhonghutiao (Zhongxia Inn Tinas) Tujiawan (Halfway Inn) 28. Turn at the bridgehead to Lijiang.

The second route is from east to west, along the Jinsha River. There is a boat in Lijiang, cross the river to Walnut Garden (Shanbailian Muben or Shanquan Hotel), Zhonghutiao (Zhongxia Hotel, Tina's), Tujiawan (Halfway Inn), get off halfway), and go to Lijiang at the head of Tiger Leaping Bridge.

Take a bus from Lijiang to Daju, and then go upstream from Daju. The advantage of this method is that it is more suitable for photography and you can better feel the danger of the canyon. After arriving at Qiaotou, you can take the shuttle bus until noon or return to Lijiang, so you have more choices.

The second route is up, down, and down in person, but it is too easy to take the road and does not meet the requirements of hiking.

The third route goes down the Jinsha River from west to east, turning at Lijiang Bridge 28, Benben Bay (Halfway Inn), Tina (Zhongxia Brigade Tina's) Walnut Garden (Woody or Shanquan Hotel) Crossing the river by boat

This third route has been widely publicized by foreign media, so foreign hikers generally take this route. This route goes from west to east, and there are many uphill roads at Turn 28, which requires a lot of physical strength.

The first route is almost in the opposite direction to the third route. There are many downhill steps at Turn 28, which requires less physical effort. You can also enjoy the scenery along Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is suitable for photography enthusiasts. You can also go along Haba Snow Mountain, through Baha Township, to Baishui Terrace (Sanba Township), and then to Zhongdian. Completing the rest of the journey requires better physical strength and perseverance, and it is best to have a local as a guide.

Tiger Leaping Gorge usually takes 2 to 3 days to complete, with a total length of about 30 kilometers. It is worth mentioning that there are waterfalls on the way from Walnut Garden to Zhongxia Hotel, and there are also waterfalls on the way from Zhonghu Zhongxia Hotel to the local bay.
