Is it better to travel in a group or on a self-guided tour to Zhangjiajie?

About accommodation: I personally recommend self-guided tours, because tour groups will inevitably take guests shopping. Zhangjiajie now has hotel chains such as Home Inn and Jinjiang Inn. You can just book online. If you don't book in advance, the prices of other hotels here are very expensive, and the price is difficult to negotiate, so I suggest you book the hotel online.

About the attractions: The city bus station has buses to Wulingyuan Scenic Area (Huanglong Cave is also nearby) and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The buses run every 15 minutes, which is quite convenient. Tianmen Mountain is also worth a visit. The Tianmen Mountain Cableway Station is right in the city and the transportation is very convenient. It is recommended that you go directly to Wulingyuan Scenic Area. The scenery there is beautiful! Tickets are valid for two days.

Going to Fenghuang: If you go to Fenghuang from Zhangjiajie, there is a direct bus, but it takes a long time, about 4-5 hours. You can take a train to Jishou, which takes about an hour and a half, and then transfer from Jishou to Fenghuang for an hour. It's easier for the elderly.
