How much should European countries tip?
Germany
In fact, most people who are bosses or part-time workers in German Chinese restaurants simply don't know the tipping standard of German diners. This is because tipping is a flexible thing. In fact, there is an unwritten rule for tipping in Germany, which is 5- 10%. You worked as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant, and you will definitely say, who gave so much? This is the problem. In fact, it is very casual, and many people don't give it at all. After the euro filed a lawsuit, it gave many people an excuse and just patched it up.
How about going to the barber shop for a haircut? Sometimes you will see some people tip, while most people don't. How about staying in a hotel? Still taking a taxi? Have you ever given a tip? Maybe you don't even know that you have to tip. In fact, the unwritten rules of tipping in Germany are similar to those in Austria described below. It's just that no one will force you.
Sometimes it depends on how much others have paid. For example, in the restroom of expressway rest stop, the tip used to be 20 fanny or 50 fanny. Now you will see that the porcelain plate with the pen tip is filled with 50 ofen. It's more than twice as expensive. You won't give it? If a cleaner sits in front of a plate and looks at you, you may lose face.
Austria
In restaurants, like Germany, 5- 10% is usually appropriate. In the hotel, you have to pay 1 euro for each piece of luggage and 1 to 2 euros for the cleaning lady every day. When you leave the hotel, the money should be given directly to the hotel staff. Barbers and taxi drivers tip between 5- 10%. German is spoken in Austria, but in the dialect, tipping is not called "Trinkgeld", but Schmattes or Schmatt.
Italy
In hotels (restaurants), guests usually tip 10% at most. In cafes and bars, there are usually small plates or piggy banks specially designed for tipping you on the bar. In hotels, cleaning women usually pay 5 euros a week. If you take a taxi, you don't have to tip, just make up the fare.
Spain-Portugal
Hotels and restaurants usually tip 5- 10%. Usually, after the waiter changes the money, the guest will leave the tip on the table. When you take a taxi, you usually charge the next 50 euro cents or the whole euro. It is considered particularly impolite to leave small change of 2 euro cents and 5 euro cents as a tip at the dinner table.
France
In restaurants or cafes, you usually tip 10- 15%. If the service fee has been added to the meal and beverage fee, you can give it less appropriately. The tip should be put on the table and then leave. You don't have to tip in the hotel. But guests can also leave some tips on the bedside table. The tip for taxi drivers is 10%.
Türkiye
In this country, if you hear someone say "Bakschisch", it means to tip you. In restaurants, it is generally 10%. It is considered impolite not to tip at all. The rules in the hotel are the same as those in Germany and Austria. If you take a taxi, the guest should fill in an integer, but the maximum is 10%.
Greece
The regulation in restaurants is about 10%, but it should not exceed 1 euro in Taverna. Guests staying in the hotel should personally tip the hotel staff when they leave. The taxi price is always much worse than the actual taxi fare.
Britain and Ireland
In Britain, you should tip 10- 15%, but not more than 10% in Ireland. If the "service charge" has been stated on the bill, the guest can give it less appropriately. You don't have to tip when you sit at the bar. If you stay in a hotel, you should give it to the staff who move boxes 1 euro. You have to pay an integer to take a taxi.
