Visa:
You can apply for a visa at the Myanmar Consulate in China (Beijing or Kunming), or you can ask a travel agency to do it for you.
Address of Myanmar Consulate in Kunming: A504, Jinlong Pavilion, Long Yuan Building, Weiyuan Street 166, Kunming, Yunnan, near Kunming Pedestrian Street (next to Carrefour).
We apply for a visa at the Consulate General of Myanmar in Hong Kong (Address: Room 240 1-2405, Sun Hung Kai Centre, 30 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong; Tel: 00852-284508 10), 28-day tourist visa, fee 150 HK dollars. If you fill in and submit the form before 10 in the morning, you can get the visa at noon. However, it should be noted that there are regulations in China that the first visa application must be made in China (except Hong Kong and Macao). Therefore, if this visa is the first time and it is applied in Hong Kong, please bring the Hong Kong and Macao Pass when flying from Guangzhou to Myanmar.
If the visa expires, the Myanmar government will charge you a fine of $3 per day.
Due to Myanmar's recent unpredictable policies, many foreign meditators in Baochan Forest have encountered the problem of visa extension.
At present, people who enter Myanmar with meditation visas, free visas and entry visas can apply for an extension. But in any case, those who want to live in Baochan Forest for more than one month are not allowed to use tourist visas. The Myanmar government refused to extend all tourist visa applications. It is recommended that those who intend to stay in Baochan Forest for more than one month apply for a meditation visa.
China citizens can apply for a three-month meditation visa at the Myanmar Embassy in China or the Kunming Consulate. To apply for a meditation visa, you must apply three months in advance, and at the same time, you must issue a "Pao meditation guarantee". Please call the embassy or consulate for details first.

Air ticket:
The above round-trip air ticket 1690+ 1040 (including tax) = 2730 yuan is the off-season price, and the peak season price can be compared with that of Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
Peak season: New Year's Day, Spring Festival, May Day, summer vacation, National Day and Christmas, including the peak season within 10 days before the festival, and Guangzhou also includes two markets.
Off-season: All time except peak season is off-season. For example, 1 after New Year's Day to three weeks before Spring Festival, three weeks after Spring Festival to May Day 10 day, after May Day to the end of June, September 10-20, and one week after National Day to New Year's Day.
Exchange:
Most tourists exchange money in Changshan market. I suggest you exchange US dollars at home and then change them into Myanmar dollars at Changshan market.
Our exchange rate at that time was about 1 USD = 1400 (kyat), and 1000 (kyat) was equivalent to 6 yuan RMB. The exchange rate between Myanmar currency and foreign exchange often changes. Prices rose rapidly and the currency depreciated.
Daily necessities and medicines:
Here, everyone may be arranged in different rooms. Some rooms will have some things left by the Zen practitioners who lived in the past, and some rooms are very simple, all by their own karma. Although I was assigned to a very simple room, there was nothing but four walls, roof and water and electricity, not even a bed. But the purpose of our trip to Pao is meditation, not vacation or pleasure. We should get used to a simple life. Compared with the rooms where Burmese people live, our conditions are much more spacious and superior. They gave all the good things to foreigners, so we should cherish the conditions and help provided by others and thank them.
The following are the practical items I brought this time for your reference:
Mosquito net (preferably tent-type, with a bracket, which can be supported on the floor, even in a room without a bed), slightly thick towel quilt (or thin sleeping bag), pillow, damp-proof pad, plastic disposable tablecloth, flashlight, electric kettle (for boiling water), alarm clock, battery (or rechargeable battery), lunch box, spoon, dishcloth, water cup and soap. Moth balls (insect-proof), mosquito repellent water, curry powder (sprinkled on walls and doorways to prevent ants from crawling indoors), clothes: September -65438+ 10, the temperature is about 23-25 degrees in the morning, 28-30 degrees at noon, and the bowl is a little cold in the morning.
There are two plugs in the socket there. If your appliance is a 3-plug, please bring your own adapter.
You can bring MP3, other storage tools or blank CD to save information.
Printing "for: pa-auk tawaya" on A4 paper and sticking it on the suitcase may make your journey less troublesome.
Drugs: antidiarrheal drugs, laxatives (or try the following three methods: 1, drink a cup of hot water with acceptable heat immediately after getting up in the morning; 2. If someone supports lemons, drink a glass of lemonade; 3, insist on eating rice porridge in the morning), Chinese patent medicine for eliminating dampness, multi-dimensional tablets, winding oil, cold medicine, anti-inflammatory tablets, Paao has a health clinic, and can also take intravenous drip. Generally speaking, minor ailments are not a problem, and doctors in Mahlman will come to see the doctor regularly.
Diet:
In terms of diet, the way of holding bowls in the temple is adopted, which is carried out in the promenade of the lower house and the bowl-holding hall of the upper house respectively. Food and drinks are provided by believers from all over the country, and arranged and cared for by Ni Jie and laity. Sometimes, vegetarians provide their own food, two meals a day, and stop eating after noon. Because there are many Chinese in the Zen Forest, it also provides special dishes suitable for the population of China. The food served is egg-free vegetarian, with or without onions and garlic. In addition to vegetables, porridge, noodles and other staple foods, there are milk tea, coffee, seasonal fruits, cakes, pastries, sugar and so on.
Zen forest schedule:
Baochan Forest is a typical Buddhist temple. The life of meditation has been like a day for decades, and there are no holidays, even the Myanmar New Year is no exception. There are nearly eight hours of meditation every day. In addition, during self-study time, meditators can choose to experience meditation or continue meditation. The following is the schedule of work and rest of Paao Zen Forest:
Get up at 3:30 in the morning
Morning class and * * * class from 4: 00 to 5: 30 in the morning.
Have breakfast around 5:45 in the morning (the specific time depends on the appearance)
Clean the squatter from 7: 00 to 7: 30 in the morning.
7: 30 ~ 9: 00 am * * * maintenance
9: 00 am ~10: 00 am meditation report, meditation self-study
About 10: 10 am lunch bowl
65438+ 0: 00 ~ 2: 30 pm * * *
2: 30 ~ 3: 30 pm meditation report and Buddhist scriptures
3: 30 ~ 5: 00 pm * * * Repair.
5: 00 ~ 7: 30 pm meditation report, exercise, self-study.
7: 30 ~ 9: 00 pm * * * maintenance
The time of meditation report in the upper house is different from that in the lower house. Both the upper house and the lower house have Chinese meditation instructors, and there is a Chinese translator when giving meditation reports to English instructors. Please make a meditation report according to the requirements of the tutor. When making a meditation report, you should know how to respect the tutor and know the etiquette.
Since the purpose of our trip to Paao is to practice meditation, we should get used to simple, simple and simple life, reduce our dependence on material things and reduce our outer edge, which may make your meditation improve faster.
I wish you all a pleasant journey! Successfully arrived!
