Six-day tour to Bangkok and Pattaya
Bangkok and Pattaya are both modern large cities in Thailand with rich tourism resources and strong tourism industry. Here, there are splendid Thai classical culture and modern elements, which will make your travel experience more exciting. Here’s your guide to a six-day trip to Pattaya, Bangkok.
Before you start writing your travelogue, please explain the background. I usually don’t have time to take (accompany) my children to play when I’m at work. At the end of the summer vacation, I took my son to Thailand for 6 days (pure independent travel). He likes swimming very much, so I chose Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand for this trip.
Purchase air tickets
Of course, the choice to go to Thailand was made on the spur of the moment in early July, and I planned to go with the whole family. During the peak summer travel season, direct flights are very expensive. My mom and I will keep an eye out for tickets at the right price. The first choice is to fly directly from Hangzhou to Bangkok, but there has never been a round-trip air ticket priced around 1,500 (the timing cannot be too bad, because the child cannot afford it, and a hotel will waste a night). A friend purchased a tax-included round-trip flight from Hangzhou to Bangkok through the Air China app. In the end, I chose Air Macau’s Hangzhou-Macau-Bangkok round-trip ticket. The price is 1868/person (tax included). Prices for adults and children are about the same, with children seeming to be 100 yuan cheaper. Need to purchase one month in advance.
I also have a plan to buy a joint ticket. On the last day back, you can take them to Macau for a day, and then return to Hangzhou from Macau in the evening, so you can visit two places. After all, Macau is very small, with only two islands. For me, who has been to Macau many times, it would be good to take them around Macau in one day. However, going out really can’t keep up with changes in plans. Due to some special reasons, this trip has many changes and troubles. I won’t list the details now, but I’ll get to them later.
Flight time: August 22nd to August 27th, I purchased a connecting ticket on the official website of Air Macau (Ctrip will be a little cheaper than the official website), but the water on Ctrip is very deep. In case of trouble to solve the problem, I will choose to buy it on the official website. It turns out that my choice was correct.
After I bought the ticket, the first accident happened. My wife’s company couldn’t ask for leave. (The reason why she asked for leave was to take her family to travel abroad, which may be why her boss did not approve it.) By this time, all air tickets and hotels had been booked.
And the itinerary and air tickets were almost booked, which suddenly disrupted the next travel plan. She was helpless there too. What should I do if my boss doesn’t approve 4 days of leave? Reschedule, refund?
A week later, she went to her boss for an interview about asking for leave. The boss just won't approve the vacation. The result of the communication was that she could only grant a maximum of 2 days of leave, and there was nothing she could do. 2 days is 2 days.
I contacted Air Macau to refund her ticket (an email address is required), and a handling fee of 600 was deducted, and 1,286 yuan was refunded.
Because she only has two days of vacation left, she will take the evening flight to Bangkok to pick us up after get off work on the 23rd. I exchanged 30,000 Air China miles for her flight from Hangzhou to Bangkok at 22:40 in the evening (the actual cost was 30,000 miles plus 580 tax).
I bought the same one-way connecting ticket from Bangkok-Macau-Hangzhou (1,900 yuan). These are additional costs in a first accident.
: Preparation before departure
1. Passport. I got my passport in early July and signed it on Ctrip, which was completed within a week.
2. Telephone cards: 3 cards, 30 yuan/card on Ctrip. Once you arrive in Thailand, a phone card can be registered for use with Uber, which is a necessity.
3. Visa service fee: 22 yuan/person, passport delivery service fee for 6 people is 132 yuan, visa fee is waived. [Complete on Ctrip]
4. Thai baht: 21,000 baht is exchanged at Bank of China. The exchange rate is 4.8, but the exchange rate is not good. In fact, you can change it without changing it. After you come out of the airport, you can exchange it at several exchange shops for a small amount of money. Now you've swiped your card, it's very convenient.
5. Sun protection equipment: sunglasses, hat, sun protection clothing, sunscreen, after-sun repair, umbrella.
6. Others: power banks, chargers, etc.
7. Pick-up and drop-off: This is also a must, because there are many people (elderly and children) who need to make reservations in advance, so I take GL8 pick-up and drop-off everywhere I can think of. Home - Xiaoshan Airport (90 yuan), Suwan Naphu Airport-Bangkok Courtyard Hotel (238 yuan), Bangkok Courtyard Hotel-Mercury Hotel Pattaya (hotel charter, 2800 baht), Pattaya. Xiaoshan Airport - Home (90 yuan), Wife's Company, - Xiaoshan Airport (90 yuan). All other car fares are covered by Uber, making it easy and practical. If you're driving a short distance, it's basically free. (Details later)
8. Transvestite show tickets cost 700 yuan [made on Ctrip]
9. Bangkok Grand Palace half-day tour with 3 large and 2 small tours costs 1,327 yuan. [Complete on Ctrip]
10. Air tickets: As mentioned above, let’s talk about hotels. Hotels in Thailand are all highly selected and very cheap compared to major hotel chains in the country. I didn’t choose any hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya for this trip. I stayed in Bangkok for 2 nights and finally chose the Courtyard by Marriott. The actual experience was not satisfactory.
In addition to price, there is also the overall service level. In short, I don’t recommend this Courtyard. I recommend another Sheraton Royal Orchid in Bangkok, which is cheaper than Courtyard.
I also stayed at the Mercure Hotel in Pattaya for 2 rooms and 2 nights. It is similar to Home Inn and 7 Days Inn, so it is not recommended.
It’s better to choose a hotel in the future.
Life is comfortable. After all, you must have a good rest when you go out to play. All three houses above include breakfast. I booked the Mei Hotel through Ctrip, and I booked the other two hotels through the APP.
Ten thousand yuan including tax is almost 3,000 baht/night. I booked two rooms for two nights.
My daughter took the Longteng package at Xiaoshan Airport and exchanged it for Longteng points.
Because the flight from Hangzhou to Macau was delayed for more than an hour, the time between the next flight is very tight. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get on the plane, so I told the flight attendant about the situation. When the plane was approaching Macau, the stewardess asked us to go to the front. After the plane stopped, we were able to get off the plane early with the first-class guests, so this photo was taken.
The first day, Hangzhou-Macau-Bangkok
Hangzhou-Macau-Bangkok, originally planned to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 21:00 pm (delayed by Typhoon Tiange, Bangkok time 2 Arrive at the airport after clicking). After arriving at the airport, you can follow the crowds or read the signs (with Chinese instructions).
When calling for a pick-up in China, you need to go to the third door on the second floor and wait for the pick-up person (in Bangkok, whether it is a pick-up person, a taxi, or Uber, all services are in Thai or English. If you don’t speak English, It's difficult to communicate. Where are you?
The driver will call and ask you where you are. If your English is poor and you are anxious, don't believe it. There is a Chinese service. She can understand you, but her answer is in English or Thai. Their English is not standard and cannot be translated by any software)
When applying for a Ctrip visa, An entry and exit card (you can ask the flight attendant to ask for it, remember to prepare a pen). Write it in advance. During immigration inspection, you need to have your passport and entry-exit form prepared in advance. The exit form will be stamped and put away by yourself.
You can enter the country directly with your visa and entry form. There are many taxis in the lobby on the second floor, but if you ask them to use the meter, they usually won't use the meter. Bidding prices are high and it is recommended to use the international version of Uber.
Remember to gather at Gate 5 after security check. Gate 5 is the gathering place for all transfers, and they are all waiting there]
Let me talk about my own personal experience. At that time, because we didn't know each other well after leaving the airport, the flight was delayed for a long time. I wasn't sure if the shuttle bus driver was waiting for me and didn't speak the language when I called the driver. I'm so anxious. Fortunately, I later met a handsome man who could speak Chinese and helped me call the driver to communicate.
Tell me to wait for the driver at gate 5. The receptionist walked up to me with a sign with my name on it, got in the car and took us to the Courtyard Marriott. The driver didn't charge extra for waiting, and I didn't tip him.
I stayed at the Bangkok Courtyard Hotel that night. Because it was very late, there was a stalemate for a while when checking in due to language communication issues.
I'm so tired.
The process of getting out of the plane:
Follow the flow of people and walk forward to the first place where you go through security check when you get your luggage out (the meeting point on the second floor) Find someone to pick you up at Gate 5.
The next day, a one-day trip to Bangkok for 5 people (1,327 yuan)
A one-day trip to Bangkok for 5 people (1,327 yuan). Search for a one-day trip to the Grand Palace on Ctrip air tickets and select required itinerary. I chose China Quality Group.
One-day tour of Bangkok Grand Palace Tannen Shado Floating Market/Old Parliament Building has itineraries 1 and 2. 1 is the Erawan Buddha in the Old Parliament Building of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace. Adult: 288 yuan, child ticket: 175 yuan (height 0.9-1.2 meters). The package with children at 7:00 in the morning is acceptable, although there are fewer attractions.
Package 2 A one-day tour to Bangkok's Mae Palace Railway Market, Tannen Shado Water Market, Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha Temple and Erawan Buddha. The itinerary is very good. The gathering time for young and old is too early and we arrived at 6 o'clock. It was very hot to visit the Grand Palace in the afternoon.
It depends on your own arrangements.
The driver will pick him up at the hotel at 7 a.m. All you have to do is wait in the lobby. After breakfast at the hotel, start a half-day tour of Bangkok. (I didn’t take many photos, and the kids weren’t interested, so I just took them with me. I was too tired.)
At noon, I found a few restaurants in the shopping mall near the Erawan Shrine. Because of language communication, I found a restaurant where the waiter could speak a little Chinese. After lunch, I went directly back to the hotel to rest.
Have something to eat at the Courtyard Hotel Executive Lounge in the evening. Because my parents didn't have enough to eat, I went to the Chinese restaurant next to the hotel and packed 2 portions of roast goose and barbecued pork rice.
After 10pm, I called Uber to pick up my wife from the airport. I took Uber back and forth and it was very convenient. Uber can use multiple numbers for short-distance rides, i.e. when you sign up, you get four free rides for 50 baht.
After using it 4 times, re-register with another mobile phone number, so that the new number will have 4 free rides. After using the new number, the old number can also get rides. If there are many people, it can be recycled. It’s quite cost-effective to hail a cab for short distances.
On the third day, shopping in Thailand and a ladyboy show
711 convenience stores are really all over the street, and the milk and potato chips inside are quite delicious. I ate the food once and it was not delicious. Maybe I'm not used to eating Thai food. It just feels like you can smell curry or something like that when you walk on the street. I have no appetite.
The original plan was to go shopping, but no one knew that there was no Chinese service and the English was so poor. It was really tiring to communicate and I hadn’t found anything I wanted. I bought some durian candy, dried durian and the like at Big C Supermarket.
I also bought Reclining Buddha Green Grass Cream and mosquito repellent. Check out at 12 noon and prepare to go to Mercure Hotel Pattaya. Pattaya is far from Bangkok. We are the hotel's taxi driver and the price is 2800 baht.
We left the hotel at 2 o'clock and arrived at the hotel around 5 p.m. We slept in the car on the way to the hotel. After checking into the hotel, we immediately invited an Uber to see a cabaret show at Tiffany’s. Buy a regular ticket for 140 yuan on Ctrip in advance.
(Special reminder: No photos can be taken inside, and the air conditioning is super strong. It is recommended to bring a coat to the show.) The performance is wonderful. Worth a look. After watching, you can take photos with the people at the door. A photo shoot costs 100 baht.
After watching the show, I found a Chinese restaurant in Pattaya Chinatown. My parents said they don't like trying Chinese food.
My husband and I went to a steakhouse and had a meal at a grilled salmon place. It tastes good and the price is not expensive. Two people ordered a two-point set meal, which cost just over 800 baht. (With pictures)
Pattaya’s nightlife is very rich and very suitable for men. The streets are full of romantic places, and it’s good to experience the local customs. Must experience it.
Because the Mercure Hotel I stayed in was so bad, I won’t post the photos. It was booked through Ctrip (agent). When checking in, the front desk said that the order could not be found and that a confirmation email needed to be sent to their designated email address before check-in could take place.
Another unpleasant communication, with language barrier.
: On the fourth day in the morning, go to Grand Island (Golden Sands Island)
Go to Pattaya Pier (Uber is basically the place where you need a car for the whole journey), buy a boat ticket to Pattaya Land Island, (ticket: 30 baht/person), enjoy the sun
(original price: 400 baht) (remember to bargain) I rented 2 swimming rings, two for 150 baht.
(Original price: 200 baht) The sea water is very clear and the scenery is beautiful, but remember to wear sunscreen. I didn't feel hot in the sea water, but I felt sunburned as soon as I got out. (My husband was sunburned and the spray was late. They were very anxious and got into the water right away.)
Later I went to the drugstore to buy aloe vera and the effect was pretty good. When I put it on, I immediately felt no pain. )
Take a boat to Grand Island (Jinsha Island) and you can reach the island in more than half an hour.
After arriving, I rented a motorcycle on the island (300 baht/day) with a 1,000 yuan deposit or passport as collateral. My son and I rode around the island and went to all three beaches.
Finally, we came to the largest beach on the island and showed them the way. They picked us up by bus. Next, I will take my son and daughter to play in the water where they will have lunch.
Friendly reminder:
No matter you are an adult or a child, you must wear sunscreen when playing in the sea. This time, I was unprepared. When I returned to the hotel, I found sunscreen on my back, arms, and thighs. Extensive sunburn, the feeling was so uncomfortable, I immediately went to the drugstore to buy aloe vera gel and applied it on. When I came back, a layer of skin peeled off, it was so painful.
On the fifth day, shopping in Pattaya Center
In the morning, go shopping and eat in Pattaya Center. Check out at 12 noon, wait for the shuttle bus to take us to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport, take the evening flight to Macau, and plan to stay at the Holiday Inn Macau Sands City.
The second event is flight delay. When we arrived at the airport, we found out that our flight had been delayed due to Typhoon Kapa and we didn't fly until tomorrow the 27th. As a result, the rest of the trip was delayed. After learning the news, many tourists who took the same flight with us went to the check-in counter to negotiate with the counter.
Because there are no Chinese-speaking staff at the counter, it is very tiring for us to communicate, and their attitude is not very good. Beyond this announcement, we have been left stranded without any compensation or apology.
(Be careful when purchasing Air Macau tickets.) At this time, I want to complain, but I don’t know where to go. We could only go back to Bangkok and stay one more night. We quickly booked two hotels in the app, opened up Uber, and hailed a ride back to the Sheraton Royal Orchid Bangkok.
I originally planned to go to Macau for a day tomorrow. After the flight was delayed, my trip to Macau was canceled on the second day, and I instantly felt a heavy loss.
On the sixth day, return home
The original plan was to arrive in Macau on the evening of the 26th, and take the family to visit Macau Island and Taipa Island the next day.
In the morning, the whole family rested in the hotel. After checking out at 1:00 noon, I go to Bangkok Airport until I go home, which is a non-stop pattern.
If the flight from Bangkok to Macau does not arrive in time in the afternoon, our subsequent flight from Macau to Hangzhou will not be connected. Fortunately, we finally caught the last train to Macau.
This 6-day trip to Thailand ends here. After coming back, everyone said that Thailand was not fun, and they could only look forward to having a better experience next time they travel.
My travel notes tend to be daily narratives, but some of my personal feelings and detailed experiences are quite real and quite helpless. The above is most of the arrangements for our itinerary for your reference. We hope it can provide some help for your itinerary.
Finally, I hope every trip you take is meaningful. Whether you are flying, staying in a hotel, watching a show or traveling, we can bring you unforgettable memories and a perfect travel experience.
