What about stiff neck?
What about stiff neck? Many people suddenly find themselves stiff after waking up. Stiff neck affects people's working conditions and life. Only by solving the stiff neck quickly can we get a better working condition. What are the causes of stiff neck? Let me take you to a simple understanding of what to do with a stiff neck.
What about stiff neck? 1 The cause of stiff neck.
1.
Actually, it is not. Sometimes sleeping on the Internet, looking down, reading or watching TV for a long time, especially sleeping on the sofa, will cause more uncomfortable symptoms and the probability of stiff neck is greater.
2. The height of the pillow is the main cause of stiff neck.
The choice of pillow height should consider personal body shape and habits, and it is better to sleep comfortably; In terms of materials, avoid being too soft or too hard and choose materials with good elasticity and support.
Therefore, whether the pillow is too high or too low is not the main reason for stiff neck.
3. Frequent stiff neck is the problem of sleeping position.
Note that frequent stiff neck is not good, and you may be caused by calcium deficiency.
At this time, we should pay attention to a balanced diet, reasonably match meat and vegetables, eat more foods rich in vitamins, trace elements and calcium, and exercise regularly and moderately, especially for cervical vertebrae.
Treatment of stiff neck
1, acupoint massage
When it comes to the treatment of stiff neck, there are different books, which can be summarized as Massage Tian Xuan, Fengchi, Dumb Door, Tianzhu, Handwritten Book, Hand Sickness, Feng Bing, or Mastoid, Houfa and Shousanli.
According to my practice, swelling is the best acupoint. When you reach your hand, you use shiatsu to treat the disease. If the above points are added, the curative effect will be more ideal. When someone has a stiff neck, the effect will be better if this method is used many times.
2. Simple exercise to prevent and treat neck pain
1. Put the middle finger, index finger and ring finger of the left hand or right hand together, find the tender point in the neck pain (mostly in sternocleidomastoid muscle and trapezius muscle), and massage for about 5 minutes from light to heavy, alternately from left to right.
2. Hit the fish A lightly and quickly for about two minutes from top to bottom and from bottom to top.
3. Press left and right Fengchi points and Jianjing points with thumb and forefinger for 1-2 minutes.
4. Press the stiff neck point with your thumb or forefinger (between the second and third metacarpals of the back of your hand and 5 points behind the metacarpal joint) for 2-3 minutes when you feel sore.
5. Finally, the head and neck bend forward, lean backward and rotate left and right.
What about stiff neck? 2 What is a stiff neck?
Some friends wake up in the morning and find that their necks can't turn. They can only tilt their heads and endure the pain in their necks. As long as you twist your head a little, you will have severe pain. In this case, you are likely to have a stiff neck, which I believe many people have experienced. Although the problem is not big, I feel my head is so heavy that I can't move. I feel my neck is going to be "broken", which is very uncomfortable.
Why is there a stiff neck?
Stiff neck is because the most common situation of "stiff neck" is neck muscle spasm, excessive use of neck and shoulder muscles, poor sleeping posture or cold and humid environmental factors, which may cause cervical joint movement disorder or neck and shoulder muscle spasm, so that muscles can not contract normally and thus cannot move.
Common causes of stiff neck,
1, working at a desk, long-term use of computers or low-headed people make the shoulders and necks tense for a long time, which is easy to cause stretching and twisting of the shoulders and necks.
2. Incorrect sleeping posture, unreasonable choice of pillow height or mattress hardness will often lead to excessive neck bending.
3. The cold climate, excessive changes in heat and cold, and poor blood circulation in the shoulder and neck will also increase the risk of stiff neck.
4, extracting overweight items, the shoulder and neck muscles and ligaments are heavily burdened, and sleeping with tight muscles will increase the chance of stiff neck.
5, lack of exercise, neck and shoulder local tissue lack of good' blood supply'.
What to do after stiff neck,
1, pay attention to protect the affected area, don't move, and avoid turning your head hard in the acute stage to prevent the symptoms from getting worse.
2. Apply hot towel or thermos bottle to the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes (if it cannot be completely relieved once, it can be applied repeatedly, two to three times a day). The temperature should not be overheated, so be careful of scalding. Warming can relieve local muscle spasm and improve tissue blood circulation.
3. Static shrinkage is also simple, and it can be done by yourself, which is safe and effective. For example, we find that we can't turn our head to the right after a stiff neck. When the pain begins, we will slowly turn our head to the right and stop to maintain it. Then, we raise our right hand and open it, and stick the palm of our right hand on our right cheek to keep it. Then continue to turn your head to the right with 20% to 30% strength to counter the strength of your palm for 6 seconds to 10 second, and then relax for 6 seconds to 10 second. Next, we continue to turn our head to the right to resist the right palm for 6 seconds to 10 seconds, and then relax. After repeating it for 3 ~4 times, you will find that the range of turning your head to the right is obviously increased. Therefore, the view that you can't move at all after a stiff neck is also wrong.
Step 4 evaluate the handling muscles
Cervical flexion is limited,
Consider that the upper bundle of trapezius muscle, suboccipital muscle group and sternocleidomastoid muscle are too tight.
Put your hands under the patient's armpit and exert upward force to make the patient's shoulders move upward. If the flexion limitation is improved, the trapezius muscle is too tight.
The backward inclination of the neck is limited,
Considering that scalene muscle and sternocleidomastoid muscle are too tight.
When the arm is raised, the tilt is limited. If it is improved, the scalene muscle will be really tense (when the arm is lifted, the shoulder abduction and scapula rotation will pull the pectoralis minor to pull up the ribs, which will shorten the scalene muscle). If the sternocleidomastoid muscle is not relieved.
Limited lateral flexion,
Consider that the upper bundle of trapezius muscle, scalene muscle and sternocleidomastoid muscle is too tight.
Put your hand under the patient's contralateral armpit and exert upward force to move the patient's contralateral shoulder upward. If the cervical flexion limitation is improved, the contralateral trapezius muscle is tied too tightly.
The patient lifted the contralateral arm upward, and the flexion was limited. If it improves, the contralateral scalene muscle is too tight. When bending sideways, if the neck moves first and then the contralateral trapezius muscle, if the head moves first, the contralateral scalene muscle will be tense.
Limited rotation,
The contralateral levator scapulae, ipsilateral upper trapezius muscle bundle, ipsilateral scalene muscle and ipsilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle are considered to be too tight.
Put your hand under the patient's contralateral armpit and exert upward force to move the patient's contralateral shoulder upward. If the rotation limitation is improved, the contralateral levator scapulae is too tight.
Put your hand under the patient's ipsilateral armpit and exert upward force to move the patient's contralateral shoulder upward. If the rotation is limited, the ipsilateral trapezius muscle bundle is really too tight.
When the patient lifts the ipsilateral arm upward, the backward rotation is limited. If it is improved, the ipsilateral scalene muscle is really too tight.
Improve, stretch and relax muscles that are too tight.
