Nanzhao Ancient Street is 2,000 meters long from south to north, from the South Gate in the south to Qunli Gate in the north. It is the central axis of Weishan Ancient City and is the most intact, complete and complete among them. The most beautiful is the ancient street between Gongchen Tower and Xinggong Tower. Here, there are small shops on both sides, with white cloth awnings and birdcages hanging in front of the door, which is quite reminiscent of the ancient southern town.

Walking on Nanzhao Ancient Street, stone archways and stone roads are coming towards you. The streets are all old houses with wooden structures, no more than two stories high. If it is in the evening, the dim lights will shine from the closed shops. Through the cracks in the wooden planks, a few shouts of sales could be heard faintly in the distance. Under the dim light, you can see uniform wooden plaques on the entrances of Nanzhao Restaurant, Chunmu Store, Book Engraving and Monument Store, Tailor Shop, Barber Shop, Paper Candle Shop, Haberdashery... some shops that are not closed. There are also red lanterns hanging.

Walking here feels like you are in a simple and elegant small market in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, and you will feel a sense of tranquility and tranquility. This kind of long-lost feeling is like a work that can only be seen in art works. It makes people feel like time has gone back decades, and it will be unforgettable for a long time.

There are long and inconspicuous corridors between the shops on the street. Going inward, there are caves in each layer, and the beautiful scenery is hidden deep in the courtyard. There are two layouts of these courtyards: "four in five patios" and "three sides and one screen wall". There are several fan-shaped or square patterns of flowers, plants, birds and fish on the top of the screen wall, with short calligraphy sentences in between. In the middle is a large landscape painting with couplets on both sides, which is antique and shows the cultural accomplishment and value of the owner of the house.

According to records, the ancient city of Weishan has been the capital of an imperial edict since the Tang Dynasty. The ancient city of Weishan we see today was established in the 23rd year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1390) when the farmland was withdrawn for garrison and Menghua was established. Wei, the newly built Menghua Acropolis in the southeast of Menghua Wei Zhifu City, was also the location of the Tuguan Yamen and Liuguan Yamen. Therefore, its layout is a typical seal-style architectural pattern of the Ming Dynasty, with one city gate each in the east, west, and south. Twenty-two streets and twelve lanes intersect with longitude and latitude. The Wenbi Pavilion in the center of the city is like a seal handle, and the central axis is the ancient Nanzhao street.
