Changyuan City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, which is managed by Xinxiang City. It is located in the northeast of Henan Province, south of the levee at the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and faces Shandong Province across the river. It is a county directly under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, located at the junction of the Central Plains Economic Zone and the economically developed eastern regions, and is an important window for Henan's foreign exchange. Changyuan city has a long history. Xia and Shang Dynasties belonged to Yuzhou, which was called the land of Qinhuai. During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Changyuan County belonged to Huashan County first, and then to Dong Jun County. The Sui Dynasty belonged to Dongming County, Yanzhou. During the Republic of China, it successively belonged to Hebei Road and the Third Inspector's Office.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it successively belonged to Puyang District of Plain Province, Heze District of Shandong Province, Anyang District of Henan Province, Xinxiang District of Henan Province, Xinxiang City of Henan Province and Zhiguan County of Henan Province. Changyuan has a high terrain in the northwest and a low terrain in the southeast, and belongs to a continental monsoon climate in a warm temperate zone. Xiaoqing River and Yan Wen Canal run through the north and south.
Geology:
The geological structure of Changyuan City belongs to the Neocathaysian system, and it is a NNE structure and NWW structural belt, which are nearly orthogonal. Changyuan City is a part of the alluvial plain in the Yellow River Basin. East of the Yellow River, there are no mountains in the territory. The terrain is gentle, and it is a plain area in northern Henan. But the Taihang pulse extends all the way to the county seat.
There is a Yellow River levee in the middle of the territory, which divides the whole city into two parts: the east and the west. Huanglin region belongs to the natural Yan Wen Canal system, with high terrain in the southeast and low terrain in the northwest, and inclines from southeast to northwest. The Yellow River basin to the west of the levee belongs to the Di Chin River system. The terrain is relatively flat, with gentle slopes in some areas.
