Xiajiang County is located in the center of Jiangxi Province and north of Ji'an City. It was called Yuxia in ancient times, so named because the narrowest part of the thousand-mile Ganjiang River is located within the territory.

Xiajiang County has a developed logistics industry, ranking among the top ten in the province and first in the city. Four water and land transportation arteries, including the Jiangxi-Guangdong Expressway, National Highway 105, Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and Ganjiang Waterway, crisscross the county from north to south, making transportation very convenient. The forest coverage rate reaches 65.5%, and it has been awarded the title of "National Top 100 Afforestation and Greening Counties".
