Is it really good to work in Macau?
As a Sichuan girl who graduated in 2019, I will use my own experience to share with you my experience of working in Macau:
1. I majored in hotel management and plan to work in hotel management after graduation. Hotel work. Inland hotels have low wages, too much unpaid overtime, and few holidays. I went to work in a hotel in Macau through a reliable agency. The salary for the same job could be four to five times that of the previous one, and I got off work on time. The rest period was only one hour, and my annual leave was 10-12 days. This does not include vacation leave and the like, which are also easy to apply for. If you are in the mainland, it is difficult to apply for annual leave.
2. When I was looking for a job in Macau, I didn’t speak Cantonese and my English was average. Macau hotels’ requirements for Cantonese are not as high as other small businesses, so you don’t have to worry too much about language issues. Of course, if you are fluent in English and return to Cantonese, there are too many jobs worth more than 15,000 MOP waiting for you!
3. I love traveling around. The first point I mentioned is how easy it is to apply for holidays. The salary in Macau is high, and the flight price and frequency of flights from Macau to all over the world are very reasonable, so it is very suitable for me.
4. When I was working in Macau, I lived in Zhuhai. The rent was cheap and it was convenient to go to work. I rode a bicycle to the port every day. After passing the port, I could take the hotel shuttle bus and I could recharge on the bus. A sleep. It not only saves transportation costs but also eliminates the trouble of squeezing into the subway inland.
5. I like Cantonese food very much. The food at the hotel is also very good. I feel like I am drinking morning tea and eating in a tea restaurant every day. Moreover, the hotel cafeteria is self-service 24 hours a day, which saved me a lot of meal expenses~
6. For me, because my colleagues may come from all over the world, the most spoken thing every day is English. It exercises my language skills even more than inland! And you can also learn Cantonese, so singing Cantonese songs is not difficult anymore hahahaha!
7. If you want to work in Macau, please be sure to find a reliable agency! Don’t take many detours to save money!
The above are some of my own experiences, I hope they can help you~
