British House: Clifton House-a building notorious for political scandals.
Clifton House and Manor is located in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England. The present house was built by architect Charles Barry in 185 1 year. Three houses have been built in this place. The first one is 1666. The present house was Nancy Astor's home and Clifton's meeting place in the 1920s and 1930s. The history of the house Clifton's house is an Italian mansion overlooking the Thames in Buckinghamshire, southern England. 1666, the architect William Wilde built the first house on this land according to the specifications formulated by the Second Duke of Buckingham Palace, whose main task was to capture the spectacular riverside scenery. This early house was destroyed by a fire at 1795. It is worth noting that this second house, which was built in 1824 and died in 1849, was also destroyed. 1849 After the fire, the Duke of Sutherland II decided to rebuild the house with the help of the architect Sir Charles Barry, and Sir Barry became famous in the British Parliament. Clifton's architectural design retains some elements of the first and second houses, including the medieval hall and observation deck dating back to17th century. This mansion is three stories high, which combines the Palladio style of England and Cincinnati style of Rome, and looks like an Italian villa. The roof of this building is designed to walk through Buckinghamshire and Berkshire and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Later, a bell tower with a height of 100 feet was added, which was designed by Henry Kloton and is actually a water tower still in use today.
Clivi's garden is one of the largest and most beautiful gardens in this country. Formal flower beds are still one of the largest in Europe, dating back to 1723, when Clifton was the owner of Count orkney. The present garden was built according to the design of john fleming, the chief gardener. He cooperated with Charles Barry, the architect of the house, and created a complex seasonal flower bed system at the end of 19. In addition to large flower beds, today's tourists can also enjoy Clifton's rose garden, Japanese water garden, long garden, sculpture, maze and woodland.
Located in the upper reaches of Windsor Castle, Clifton is said to be a frequent visitor of Queen Victoria in the1850s, but in 1868, after the death of the Duke, Lady Sutherland died and the house was sold to the Duke of Westminster. 1893, the duke sold Clifton to William Waldorf Astor, a rich American. After some incredible changes, such as installing a French restaurant in Rococo style in Chaeau d'Asnieres, a suburb of Paris, and adding a complete railing in Villa Bhese, Rome, Astor gave Clifton to his son Waldorf when he married American Nancy Shaw in 1906.
During the years when the young Astor couple owned and lived in Clivi, the house was notorious for its luxurious entertainment of family gatherings held by influential guests and young couples. Clifton's heyday on the social stage was between the two world wars. It is said that Zi Yuan Hotel hosted some of the most famous and influential artists, writers and politicians at that time. Clived Dense is more prominent as Asor. It is said that in the years before World War II, the distinguished guests were politically influential and controversial Germans who advocated appeasing Hitler.
During the First World War, the land of Kerry Wei Deng became the location of the Duchess of Connaught Hospital in Canada and China, and the emergency department treated the wounded across hospitals. The hospital was demolished in 19 18, but was rebuilt in the name of Canadian Red Cross Memorial Hospital when World War II broke out. This hospital has been used since the end of the war until the 1980s, and has been mainly engaged in obstetrics, nursing and rheumatism. Clifton Cemetery is also the site of Clifton War Cemetery, where 42 Commonwealth citizens are buried.
Clifton was donated to the National Trust by the Zi Yuan in 1942 and donated 250,000 pounds at the same time, but the Zi Yuan stayed there until 1968. After the death of Bill Astor, Clivi Deng was rented to Stanford University until 1985, when it was restored, renovated and reopened as a luxury hotel. From 1985 to today, Clivi Deng has experienced many hardships, the most recent of which was acquired by London and regional real estate companies in 20 12.
Making this house very famous now, the motto of Regal Deng Hotel is "Nothing ordinary happens here. Creevy Deng entered the collective consciousness of Britain (if not Europe) in 1930s, because it was the background of the famous "Creevy Deng School" society. This group of nobles includes politicians William montague, Lord Halifax, Lord Lothian and Times editor Jeffrey Dawson. It is said that they played an important role in political decision-making before World War II and were accused of forming an alliance with Nazism. The profumo scandal of 1963 made Klee Wei Deng even more notorious, because it is said that there was a small room in Klee Wei Deng's manor, which was the residence of the war minister, and John profumo had an "immoral" relationship with 19-year-old model Christina Keeler.
Kerry Wei Deng was used as a location in the movie Kerry Wei Deng.
