White Horse Lake
Legend has it that at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Moling Lieutenant Jiang Ziwen (an official equivalent to the mayor of Nanjing) led his troops to chase bandits to the foot of Zhongshan Mountain and died heroically. In the early years of the Eastern Wu Dynasty, an official saw Jiang Ziwen riding a white horse on the road, holding a white feather fan in his hand, followed by his attendants, exactly as he had been before his death. Many years later, the strong white horse he was riding on was still unwilling to leave the battlefield where its master died in battle. It often appeared on the Zijin hillside and dug up a clear spring day after day. It brought good news to the villagers living here. The gathering of clear springs forms Baima Lake.

Pearl Spring
Pearl Spring Scenic Area is located at the southwest foot of Dingshan Mountain in Pukou, Nanjing. It is 7 kilometers away from Pukou Railway Station and Pukou Ferry, and the Gu (Lou) Zhen Line bus goes directly to the scenic spot. This scenic spot has a north subtropical humid monsoon climate. The scenic spot has pleasant scenery in all four seasons: pink willows and red willows in spring, lush forests in summer, clear skies and colorful forests in autumn, and red plum blossoms and snow in winter. Suitable for traveling all year round.
The hills in the area are undulating and winding, forming part of the eastern extension of Laoshan. It is mainly composed of dolomite and limestone, with rugged rocks and craggy peaks. Miaofeng Peak, Lion Peak and Furong Peak stand on the north side. The highest peak is Miaofeng Peak, with an altitude of 255.5 meters. Surrounded by mountain peaks, verdant trees, deep and steep valleys, ripples of clear water, springs chasing shadows of clouds, and thousands of pearls, it is an interesting place. It is famous for its beautiful mountains, beautiful rocks, beautiful waters and strange springs.
As early as the Southern Dynasties, Emperor Wu of Liang officially built Dingshan Temple under the Lion Peak for eminent monks. The incense was filled with incense, and the Pearl Spring began at this time. Later, the Indian monk Bodhidharma folded a reed and crossed the river to Dingshan Temple, where he faced the wall for several years. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more than 30 buildings, platforms, pavilions and pavilions were built around Pearl Spring, forming a beautiful landscape integrating mountains, rivers and gardens. There is an endless stream of tourists, and it is known as "the first tourist attraction in Jiangbei" .
In 1984, the Nanjing Municipal People's Government decided to rebuild the scenic spot and listed it as one of the seven key tourism projects in Jiangsu Province - Nanjing Pearl Spring Tourist Resort. The resort is famous for its Pearl Spring scenery, one of the "Forty Scenic Spots of Jinling" District is the center, covering an area of ??14.76 square kilometers. In addition to many cultural relics from the Southern Dynasties, Ming and Qing Dynasties, there are also scenic spots and entertainment venues that are appreciated by people and are under development and construction: the source of Pearl Spring, Jingshan Lake cruise ships, bamboo rafts, fish watching, fishing, Meize Pavilion, Spring Breeze Pavilion, Meihai Ningyun, wild fun and forest activity areas, golf courses, alligator breeding gardens, racecourses, archery ranges, wooden houses, grottoes, Lucky Amusement Palace, Wanguo Mountain Villa, Dingshan Pavilion Restaurant, etc.
Pearl Spring Scenic Area For people living in increasingly crowded and noisy cities, the freshness and tranquility of the environment are hard-to-buy things. The scenery of the lakes and mountains in the scenic area is enough to filter out the chaotic and complicated emotions, giving people a rare sense of tranquility and freshness, and it seems to have a warm and comfortable feeling of returning to the embrace of Mother Nature. It is a good place in Nanjing that takes natural landscape as the main body and integrates tourism, leisure entertainment, vacation and recuperation.

Qixia Temple
Qixia Temple is located on Qixia Mountain more than 20 kilometers northeast of Nanjing City. It is a national key Buddhist temple in Han Dynasty designated by the State Council.
Qixia Temple was built in the first year of Yongming in the Southern Qi Dynasty (483) and has a history of more than 1,500 years. Qixia Temple is the birthplace of Jiangnan Sanlunzong. The Three Treatises Sect is one of the sects of Chinese Buddhism. It originated from the Madhyamaka theory of Mahayana Buddhism in ancient India. It uses the "Middle Way", "Twelve Doors" and "Hundred Treatises" as its main classical basis, and advocates the emptiness of all dharmas. theory. Qixia Temple has changed its name several times in history. It was called "Qixia Jingshe" in the Yongming Dynasty of the Southern Qi Dynasty, "Gongde Temple" in the Tang Dynasty, "Miaoyin Temple" in the Southern Tang Dynasty, and "Miaoyin Temple" in the fifth year of Taiping's reign in the Song Dynasty (980). "Pusan ??Temple" was renamed Qixia Temple in the fourth year of Jingde of Song Dynasty (1007). Later it was renamed "Chongbao Temple" and "Tiger Cave Temple". In the fifth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1372), Taizu issued an edict to "Qixia Temple", which is still in use today.
Qixia Temple covers an area of ??more than 40 acres and has dozens of large and small halls such as the Shanmen, Tianwang Hall, Pilu Hall, and Sutra Library. Entering the mountain gate, there is the Maitreya Buddha Hall. There is a statue of Maitreya Buddha in the hall, and the Wei Tuo Tianjiang stands behind it. Exit the Amitabha Hall and enter the patio. On both sides of the patio are the dining hall, hall, etc. Climbing up the stairs is the Pilu Hall, the main hall in the temple. After leaving the Pilu Hall, you enter the abbot's room and go up the stairs to find the Buddhist Dharma Hall and Sutra Collection Building.
The Sutra Collection Building houses more than 7,000 volumes of the Tripitaka and more than 14,000 volumes of various books.
On the right side of the temple is the relic pagoda, which was first built in the first year of Renshou (601), Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the later Tang Dynasty. The tower is made of white stone, about 15 meters high, with an octagonal five-level structure. The structure is unique. The Xumizuo is composed of a five-story dense eaves tower room. The whole tower is not only exquisite in structure, but also has gorgeous and detailed carvings and lifelike characters, making it a masterpiece.
Going east from the stupa is Thousand Buddha Rock. There are more than 500 Buddha statues inside, the largest of which is Amitayus, about 10 meters high. On the left and right sides are the standing statues of Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, forming the "Three Saints of the West". There are Buddhist niches and Buddha statues on the surrounding rock walls. These Buddha statues are exquisite and spectacular, reflecting the wisdom of ancient craftsmen.
Qixia Temple has a special status in the history of Chinese Buddhism. The Jiangsu Buddhist Association is located in Qixia Temple, and the Qixiashan Branch of the China Buddhist Academy is also located in the temple, becoming one of the bases of Buddhist education in my country.

Qixia Mountain
"In spring, Qixia Mountain comes to Qixia Mountain." Niushou Mountain and Qixia Mountain are native to Nanjing. A great place to visit in spring and autumn. Qixia Mountain, although the water source has been diverted due to mining, it still looks like a strong old man, full of energy and youthful vitality.
Qixia Mountain, known as Sheshan Mountain in ancient times, is located 22 kilometers outside Taipingmen, Nanjing City. The mountain has three peaks. The east peak looks like a dragon and is called Longshan; The western side of the mountain is called Maple Ridge, and there are acres of maple trees. Every late autumn, the mountains are covered with red, and the scenery is very charming. It is the main scenery of Qixia Mountain that attracts tourists. In addition, Qixia Mountain has many historic sites and many strange rocks and rocks, making it a well-known tourist attraction.
The first scene in Qixia Mountain Scenic Area is Mingjing Lake, which is located to the west of the gate of Qixia Temple and covers an area of ??about 3,000 square meters. It was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. There is a pavilion in the middle of the lake and a Jiuqu Bridge connecting it to the shore. The shape is exquisite and the scenic spot is called "Rainbow Mirror". To the east is the Crescent Pond, and then the gate of Qixia Temple.
Qixia Temple was built in the seventh year of Yongming in the Southern Qi Dynasty (489). It was called Gongde Temple in the Tang Dynasty. It added more than 40 temples and was very large in scale. It is similar to Lingyan Temple in Changqing, Shandong and Jingzhou, Hubei. The Yuquan Temple in the mountains and the Guoqing Temple in Tiantai, Zhejiang are also known as the four largest jungles in the world. It was destroyed by fire during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the 34th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1908). The main buildings now include the Shanmen, Tianwang Hall, Pilu Hall, Shecui Tower, Sutra Library, etc. It is the largest temple in Nanjing.
Not far from the mountain road outside the south wall of Qixia Temple to the east, you can see the relic pagoda. The pagoda is made of white stone, has five floors and eight sides, and is about 18 meters high. The outer wall of the tower is engraved with reliefs, with vivid and expressive images. Engraved on the base of the tower are the stories of Sakyamuni becoming a monk and cultivating Taoism, which are in order: conception, birth, travel, asceticism, sitting meditation, Dharma, subjugation of demons, and Nirvana.
Thousand Buddha Rock is located east of the stupa and is built against the mountain. According to statistics, there are 294 Buddhist niches and 515 Buddha statues. Most Buddhist niches have a main Buddha, flanked by his disciples or bodhisattvas. The largest one is Amitayus Buddha, which is 11 meters high with its base. The Buddha statues are either sitting or standing, with different postures and exquisite shapes. However, due to long-term weathering, many fine parts of the statue have peeled off or become blurred, which is a pity.
Qixia Mountain also has some interesting natural wonders. Such as the northeast of Qixia Temple. There is a blue-gray rock on the southern slope of the mountain with a wavy surface. It is called "Dielang Rock" and is very rare. In addition, there are also uncanny wonders of nature such as "Qingfeng Sword", "Tiankai Rock" and "One Line of Sky", which are enough to attract tourists from all over.

Qinhuai River
It originates from Piaoshui Donglu Mountain and Jurong Huashan Mountain, from east to west , gurgling through the southern part of Nanjing City, and then flows into the Yangtze River along the northwest of Shicheng. The Qinhuai River is a tributary of the Yangtze River. Its ancient name is "Huai River" and its original name is "Longzangpu". It is said that when the first emperor of Qin Dynasty visited the east, he saw the purple air rising above Jinling and thought it was the king's energy, so he "cut a square mountain, cut off a long ridge to create a sacrificial area, and entered the river." Later generations mistakenly believed that this water was opened during the Qin Dynasty, so it was called " Qinhuai".
"The beautiful land in the south of the Yangtze River, the imperial state of Jinling", the section of the Qinhuai River in Nanjing City is the famous place of "Ten Miles of Qinhuai" and "Golden Powder of the Six Dynasties". The beautiful and simple scenery on both sides of the strait and the numerous cultural sites all reflect the ancient style of Jinling Ancient City.
The Qinhuai River is the cradle of Nanjing’s ancient civilization. As far back as the Stone Age, there have been human activities in the basin. The two sides of the river from Dongshuiguan to Xishuiguan have been the residential areas of prosperous commercial areas since Soochow. During the Six Dynasties, it became a place where famous families gathered, merchants gathered, literati gathered, and Confucianism flourished. After the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it gradually declined, but it attracted countless literati and poets to come here to pay their respects, chanting that "in the old days, the kings gave birth to the swallows in front of the hall, and they flew into the homes of ordinary people." In the Song Dynasty, it gradually recovered and became the cultural and educational center of Jiangnan. The Ming and Qing dynasties were the heyday of Shili Qinhuai. The golden powder pavilions are lined up in rows; the painted boats are rippling in the waves, and the sound of lights and shadows form a dreamlike and beautiful spectacle. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the inner Qinhuai River gradually declined and lost its prosperity. It was not until 1949 that Nanjing carried out large-scale dredging and management of the Qinhuai River, focusing on the development of the Qinhuai Scenic Area, and the ancient Qinhuai River was rejuvenated.
Rafting on the Qinhuai River, you can enjoy the Qinhuai style. The oldest buildings on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can be traced back to the Jin Dynasty. Visitors can see densely populated residential areas and numerous commercial markets. The boat masters and boat ladies dressed in ancient costumes played their palm poles and entertained the tourists. Between the two sides of the strait, the sounds of Peking opera, singing, dancing, and music are heard one after another. The colorful lanterns in the river are overflowing with color and gold. People can't help but recall Zhu Ziqing's "Qinhuai River in the Shadow of the Sound and Lanterns".

Look at this Nanjing travel diary again
Here, I would like to add some personal travel notes in Nanjing This feeling may not have been talked about by you Fang family members so far, but I personally think it is worth mentioning to enhance the fun of the tour! I sincerely hope for your criticism and advice!
1. Gulou area (a residential area densely populated by senior officials of the Provincial Party Committee - Wuxing Road in Nanjing)
There is a quiet and pleasant "Yihe Road" in the Gulou area (expected to be related to "Yihe Road") "Summer Palace" (named "Summer Palace"), close to Jiangsu Road and Shanxi Road, is not known to ordinary tourists. It has lush parasol trees on both sides. I thought it might be an ordinary residential house in Nanjing. The architectural style is "Fuya style" and Shanghai's "Shikumen". "The style is obviously different, the difference between imperial citizens and common people, and the road walls are goose yellow, which is quite dignified. The road is more than 600 to 700 meters long and straight. There are no shops and honking is prohibited. It is recommended for people with a quiet temperament. Take a look here.
2. The Executive Yuan, Zichao Building and the "Five Powers Political System" Exhibition Hall in the Presidential Palace
Since I majored in law, I was very interested in the Presidential Palace and took a tour 1 When I arrived in front of the Presidential Palace, I was impressed by its momentum. Sun Yat-sen absorbed the Western Voltaire's idea of ??separation of powers, combined with China's national conditions, and created a five-power system, that is, the national political organization system is divided into the Executive Yuan, the Judicial Yuan, the Legislative Yuan (separation of three powers) + the Supervisory Yuan, and the Examination Yuan Five courtyards. The current political system in Taiwan adheres to Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s theoretical foundation of the separation of powers. The functions are in turn similar to China's State Council, Supreme Court, National People's Congress, Procuratorate + Disciplinary Committee + Audit Office, and the Examination Yuan of the Ministry of Education.
Zichao Building is the office building of Lin Sen, Chairman of the National Government. Lin Sen is named Zichao because in front of the door are two century-old precious cedars introduced from India. The Chinese word "sen" cleverly reflects the name "Linsen". The three floors are mainly composed of offices and conference halls, as well as the distinctive 1930s vintage elevators.
According to the staff at the museum, the Nanjing Presidential Palace mainly introduces pictures and text (soft information), supplemented by physical objects (hard information). It does not use a lot of multimedia technology, but it still has a profound modern influence. History education function. Compliments!
3. Xuanwu Lake Park
Xuanwu Lake (park) is on the Central Road, but the widening and renovation of the junction of Hunan Road and Central Road are under construction. After asking, the main entrance of the park is in Jiangsu Province. On the south side of the museum, you have to go 300 meters along the path to get to the main entrance, so it is really difficult to find it without asking. There is no entrance fee. The Huanhu Road is free, and there may be a fee for the park inside. Electric 30/hour. There are also pedal boats available for 15/hour.
4. Ming Xiaoling Tomb (the tomb of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang)
There are many entrances to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, which is like a maze. A person can DIY here without any guidance or map guidance. , you will go in the wrong direction (it happened that you walked out from another exit by mistake without entering the main part. Fortunately, you were guided by the local Nanjing mm, otherwise you would have walked out from the direction of Sifang City and Meiling Palace).
Shameful:)
The Ming Tombs in Beijing also imitated the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum in Nanjing. The mausoleum layout has a round sky and a square place, and it is said that it was built in accordance with the astrological numerology of the 12 constellations. Passing through the small memorial hall, Fangcheng Minglou, and climbing up the stairs, the top is Baocheng Baoding. The so-called Baoding is a large earthen mountain with green trees. On the front stone wall of the earthen mountain is inscribed "This Mountain Mingtai". "Tomb of the Ancestors", I didn't see the tombstones I imagined; I was in good spirits, panting and climbed to the top with difficulty (there were no stone steps, so I just climbed, and I didn't see any other tourists climbing up. There were no people around. Maybe they didn't I was happy to climb, knowing that there was nothing to see), and finally climbed down from the back mountain (actually I was a little afraid of getting lost) in a big circle and returned to the original climbing point. Someone was coming from the back mountain to explore and asked me what happened. Then he told me that it was just a circle, so there was no need to waste your efforts. (In fact, this is also the fun of traveling, the process is beautiful) Haha.
5. Regarding the most suitable transportation route (recommended: Tour 1 and Tour 2 transportation routes)
Tour 1: Nanjing Railway Station - Central Gate - Xuanwu Lake Park - Drum Tower - Jiming Temple - Four Archways - Presidential Palace - Jiefang Road - Ming Palace - Zhongshan Gate - Wei Bridge - Meiling Palace - Underwater World - Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum
Tour 2: Yuhuatai - Zhonghua Gate - Changle Road - Confucius Temple - Daxing Palace - Presidential Palace - Jiefang Road - Ming Forbidden City - Zhongshan Gate - Wei Bridge - Qianhu - Shixiang Road - Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum - Underwater World - Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum - Linggu Temple Park
P.S The Presidential Palace (Xuyuan) is located on the relatively prosperous Changjiang Road (near Taiping North Road). The surrounding transportation is very convenient, and you can transfer to other buses. It is very close to the most prosperous commercial area "Xinjiekou" and the digital electronics street "Zhujiang Road". It is worth visiting as an activity center.
The above are just some thoughts, I hope it will be helpful to everyone during your trip to Nanjing, thank you!
