What is it like to live in a youth hostel with mixed gender?
The youth hostel is a place that is best at saying goodbye. We meet by chance and in a hurry. We don’t need to leave each other’s names or look forward to meeting again. We just wish in our hearts that the next stop they go to will be more exciting. I am a person who loves traveling and have traveled to many places in recent years. Every time I choose youth hostels as my destination. It feels wonderful to stay in a youth hostel. Everything is just right. You can enjoy the scenery alone and meet some new people. In youth hostels, travelers from all over the world often live together. It is inevitable that men and women will live together. I would like to share my experience with you.
Putting aside gender distinctions in the name of friends
My biggest feeling in the youth hostel is that here I can abandon some inherent gender concepts and meet people as pure friends. Everyone gets along. Most of the people staying in youth hostels are people of similar age to themselves, either looking for work or traveling. Usually the people who live in such places are young people from all over the world. Although we may not understand the same language, or even like different things, or have different personalities, we have the same destination. Everyone doesn't interfere much with each other, so it doesn't feel like much.
As for the matter of men and women living together, first of all, today's young people can tolerate it, and secondly, men and women living together can also help each other. As time went on, everyone became less stressed and chatted happily, so there was nothing to be embarrassed about. But only if the other party has a certain moral quality. If you find something wrong, you must protect yourself immediately.
My Youth Hostel Experience
A year ago I traveled to Tibet alone, and I chose a youth hostel. At that time, there were five people living in one room, including me, three girls and two boys. Two of the boys were very gentlemanly. When we entered the hotel, they enthusiastically helped us carry our luggage and chatted with us enthusiastically. The two girls and I were a little wary at first, after all, men and women are different, but thinking that we were going to spend a night here together, we relaxed a little.
After settling in, the five of us went to a restaurant next to the hotel for a meal and chatted about our respective purposes for coming to Tibet. Some were to relax, and some were because we wanted to come out on our own after breaking up. Some of them go shopping to complete their studies. Everyone's purpose is different, but the place they arrive at is the same, which makes me feel very magical.
Many times, the encounter between people is a wonderful thing. There is only a 0.01% chance of people meeting each other in this world, but we are able to meet here. This is a great fate. Soon we became familiar with each other. We are all young people and it is very convenient to communicate. In the evening, we came to the part where everyone is most concerned about mixed gender living. We all lined up to take a shower. Two boys let us three girls take a shower first. When we were taking a shower, they would choose to walk out of our room and take a walk outside. They would not come back until we finished taking a shower and took care of things. .
When sleeping at night, the beds are separated by a curtain. The two boys told us a lot of stories about themselves. When we couldn't sleep at night, we got up and played the guitar together and looked at the nebula-filled sky in Tibet. This youth hostel experience gave me a very good feeling. Nothing strange happened, and the interactions between men and women were also very harmonious.
It is important to stay vigilant when you are alone
Although my youth hostel experience this time was good, I will always stay vigilant and pay attention when changing hotels. Here are some prevention tips for staying in a youth hostel.
1. When we check in to the hotel, it is best to choose a bed on the upper bunk to avoid the loss of property. It will also be safer at night, especially for girls. Youth hostels usually have some small locked cabinets for you to use, so be sure to keep your belongings safe.
2. When sleeping at night, you should close the curtains on your bed to avoid unnecessary exposure and being seen. If you hear any strange noises at night, be prepared to call the police.
3. You must stay away from some people who seem to have evil intentions. There are also some people who chat with you enthusiastically as soon as you come up. Those people must have bad intentions.
It is recommended to stay away first and then observe the situation. If you feel that something is not going well, try to change a hotel as quickly as possible.
Youth hostels bring a group of free people together. It is no longer a symbol of budget travel, but a choice with attitude. I hope that every young person can live up to their youth. While ensuring their own safety, I recommend everyone to try a youth hostel trip!
