Hotel level of Yangjiao Island Hotel

Yangjiao Island Hotel is a super hotel. There are five-star hotels in North Korea, including five-star super hotels and three-star first-class hotels.

Super hotels are used to receive foreign guests. In Pyongyang, there are three super hotels, namely Yangjiao Island Hotel, Koryo Hotel and Miaoxiangshan Hotel. Koryo Hotel is located on the west bank of Datong River in Pyongyang, facing Yangjiao Island Hotel across the river. Miaoxiangshan Hotel is located in Miaoxiangshan, more than two hours' drive from Pyongyang. Usually, foreign tourists are arranged to stay at Yangjiao Island Hotel, because the island is located in the center of the river, and the only access to downtown Pyongyang is Yangjiao Bridge. As long as someone is stationed at Yangjiao Bridge, it is easy to prevent foreign guests from going to the island and prevent Pyongyang people from going to the island. Because of this, it is impossible for Koreans outside to enter the Yangjiao Island Hotel, so those who live in the hotel must be foreign guests.

Super hotels have their own power generation equipment. Although Pyongyang often loses power due to lack of electricity, super hotels can be unaffected. Super hotel rooms are equipped with central air conditioning, which is not available in first-class hotels. For example, Xishan Hotel is a first-class hotel, located on the Xishan Mountain in the suburbs of Pyongyang. This is a 30-story building. There is only an electric fan in the room, and there is no air conditioning.
