I. Background information

The landlord goes to school in Hong Kong, is a non-permanent resident, has a China passport and a Hong Kong and Macao Pass to stay.

I'm going to Portugal for a meeting this summer. After the meeting, I plan to travel to Spain for a week. In fact, I only stayed in Spain for one more day than in Portugal. According to the explanation of Schengen visa application, the application should be submitted to the consulate of the main destination country. The main purpose of my visit is a conference. I should apply to the Portuguese consulate. But the Portuguese consulate in Hong Kong and Macao is in Macao, and the German consulate is here. After reading the material requirements of the German consulate, I feel it is difficult to handle two items, air tickets and accommodation reservations. They all asked to confirm the itinerary and refused to accept cancellable reservations, so I decided to apply to the Spanish consulate on the grounds of staying in Spain for a longer time.

Second, make an appointment online.

From June 6, 20 16, each applicant must make an appointment to submit the materials, and the online appointment interval is 5 minutes. I don't know if it is because of the summer vacation. I can only make an appointment from late May to late June, so everyone should make an appointment online at least one month in advance. It's not too late to make an appointment before preparing the materials.

After the appointment is successful, the system will send an email to the email address you filled in, and you can modify or cancel the appointment by email. Although the staff asked me if I had printed the appointment letter when handing over the materials, I said that it would be fine if I didn't print it, so I personally felt that it was not necessary to print the appointment letter for environmental protection.

Third, material preparation

Depending on the purpose of the trip, the materials to be prepared are slightly different. As mentioned earlier, although the landlord intends to apply for a trip to Spain, he actually wants to go to Portugal for a meeting. The holiday letter given by the department has two purposes, so it is consistent with the holiday letter. I have prepared materials for the trip and meeting. However, although the update time of the list of materials on the website looks very new, it is actually a little different from the materials actually received, and some copies of documents have not been received.

Spain

1. Application Form

It can be downloaded in official website and filled in English. In the process of filling in, I think there may be some problems:

(1) date format. Except for the date of birth, the format of "day-month-year" is clearly required, there is no clear format requirement in other places (such as the date of issuance and the period of validity), which should be consistent with the writing on "day-month-year" or the original certificate (such as "0 1").

I left some photos after I applied for an American visa. I cut it myself with scissors according to the size requirements. It's a little crooked, so it's ok. But the photos I prepared were not used in the final visa, but the photos taken on the spot (extremely ugly and deformed). It should have nothing to do with hand cutting, and the good photos prepared by my sisters who went with me are useless, but they were taken on the spot.

3. Original and photocopy of passport

Passport pages to be copied include: personal information page and previous visa page. For safety reasons, I copied all the visa pages. Finally, the Japanese and Thai visa pages were confiscated, and the US and Schengen visa pages were accepted.

4. Original and photocopy of Hong Kong Identity Card

You need to show the original Hong Kong identity card before submitting the materials, and the main purpose should be to check your identity. Received a copy of ID card.

5. Residence visa and its copy.

It turns out that the purpose of the Hong Kong and Macao Pass seems to be just to check the identity. I copied the personal information page, the mainland stay endorsement page (gray-blue), the Hong Kong Immigration Department endorsement page (red) and the first entry endorsement page (white paper), and only received the first and last one. I think the tab page of the last item should be ok.

6. Travel insurance and its copy

Medical insurance with an insured amount of not less than 300,000 euros can be purchased at your own credit card issuing bank and major insurance companies in Hong Kong. I bought it at Prudential for 15 days, with the insured amount of10.2 million Hong Kong dollars and the premium of 245.7 Hong Kong dollars. The insurance confirmation letter is sent by e-mail with instructions in Chinese and English. Just print out the insurance confirmation email. In addition to the email, I also printed the detailed policy terms and conditions, and printed two copies according to the requirements of the document list, but I didn't receive it, so I only need to prepare an insurance confirmation letter containing the protection list, without details and copies. It is a sin to waste a lot of paper!

7. Round-trip ticket to Hong Kong

I was careless about air tickets. I only prepared a round trip from Hong Kong to Lisbon, Portugal. Because I thought there would be no problem with the visa, I paid for the air tickets for the trip myself. Actually, you don't have to pay, but you can book an order.

Although I only prepared a round-trip ticket, I suggest that I prepare a reservation for intercity transportation in Schengen. Train tickets, air tickets, unpaid or cancellable tickets are all acceptable.

8. Financial certificate and photocopy

In March, the bank

A statement is enough. Confiscate the copy. At that time, I still had about 30 thousand or 40 thousand in my bank account. Because the list of documents says that electronic printing is not accepted, I went to the bank to apply for a bank seal in recent March.

Statement. The bank will not stamp the documents I print and carry with me. I need to apply. The mailing cycle is 7 working days, so be sure to reserve time. Still have to pay, 50 Hong Kong dollars a month, what a pit! Explain the purpose and requirements to the bank staff, such as stamping, and it is also possible to send a copy exactly like the one printed online, and it is not obvious that it is handled by the bank.

If the sister who went with her didn't have time to apply for a stamp, the bank wouldn't stamp the documents she printed, and then she went to the bank to ask them to get the certificate. Anyway, I can see that she didn't print it herself, plus she printed it herself in the last three months.

9. Hotel Reservation Form

All hotel reservations during your stay in Schengen countries can be cancelled free of charge and accepted at the time of reservation.

10. Copy of school holiday letter and student ID card

The holiday letter prepared by the administrative staff of the department has the signature of the dean. The school holiday letter said that it would go to Portugal for a meeting and travel to Spain, so it also prepared an invitation letter for the meeting and accepted it.

Four. Application process

The Spanish Consulate is located in Room 5303, 53rd floor, Central Plaza. Wan Chai MTR Station Exit A, walk along the overpass to the seaside, and turn right at the Immigration Department. This building is the central square.

Make an appointment at 9:20 am and arrive at the consulate office at 9: 00 am on the day of appointment. There are only two chairs in a small place. Although online booking is a 5-minute booking interval, it actually takes about 20 minutes to receive the materials from an applicant, so it's my turn to deal with the applicant who made the reservation after 9 o'clock.

The staff who receives the materials is a middle-aged person in Hong Kong, who is very nice. In the process of reading the materials, I mainly questioned my purpose of going to Europe, saying that my main purpose was to have a meeting and I should apply to the German consulate. I replied that I applied for any country, because I heard that I stayed there for a long time. He still said that your main purpose is not to travel, but to have a meeting. I accepted your materials, failed them, and delayed you. I have nothing to say, I can only look out the window and think that all my ticket money has gone down the drain. After a while, he asked me if I had applied to the German consulate, and I said no. He helped me look at the appointment of the German consulate on the computer and said it was too late to apply for Germany now. I didn't say anything. I was still thinking about the plane ticket and conference registration fee, which was nearly 10 thousand. After a while, he said, well, your current materials don't show that you are going to Spain except for hotel reservations. After you go back, you can make up the transportation expenses from Portugal to Spain and Spain, either by train or by plane. You don't have to pay first. Just submit it by email. Just try it.

Next, he received my materials, then took photos, fingerprinted, charged and told me how to check the application results. The notice posted on the wall said that the results would come out in about 7 working days.

Seven. Visa pass

Getting a visa is the same window as applying for a visa, and the passport is put in the small basket at the back. When I got the visa, I found that it was actually issued on Tuesday. Considering the materials I handed in last Friday night, it can actually be sent in two working days.

In addition, the date on the visa is two days earlier than the arrival date I filled in, and the date of my departure is one month later than what I wrote, and the time I can stay in Schengen is 30 days, which is twice as long as the 15 day I applied for. This is much more relaxed than the Schengen visa I applied for at the Swiss Consulate in Beijing last time, probably because of my second application. If I have more time, I hope I can stay in Europe for a while!
