Hills in Water Margin (3): Early Liangshan (Wang Lun, Zhu Gui, Du Qian Song Wan)

I think this series should be written in the chronological order of the emergence of various local forces in the book, mainly to facilitate me to classify and find the original materials.

After Lu Zhishen made a scene in Taohua Mountain and arrived in Sokokuji, his story came to an end for the time being. The original book started Lin Chong's story here. Let's skip Lin Chong's story and just talk about our theme of local power. After Chai Jin's introduction, Lin Chong went to Liangshan on a snowy night, which led to the initial Liangshan forces.

The strength of early Liangshan members headed by Untitled Scholar Wang Lun was very mediocre. Du Qian Song Wan's martial arts are mediocre, and Zhu Gui is a logistics person who runs a joint venture. The leader Wang Lun has no martial arts, and his brain is not very bright. His emotional intelligence and IQ are both low, and he doesn't know people's hearts and won't be Machiavellian, so he is left with a little cleverness.

In contrast, Liangshan is a rare treasure. The terrain that is easy to defend and difficult to attack, and the mature system of Zhu Gui's black shop to spy on information all make Liangshan's appearance different from Shaohua Mountain and Taohua Mountain. We can't see any development prospects for the first two, but when writing Liangshan section, the author described the geographical location in multiple words, which can be regarded as the foreshadowing of the author's writing: this hill is going to play the leading role.

Wang Lun, who holds Liangshan in his hand, can't say that he has no brains and can't analyze. On the contrary, he thinks too much about everything. Let's look at his psychological activities when he met Lin Chong:

Wang Lun's logic is: I have no ability, and Du Qian and Song Wan have no great ability. Now there is a Lin Chong, who is much better than us in martial arts. He will suppress me in the future and send him away anyway to avoid future troubles. At first glance, is there some truth?

However, this logic violates two taboos in Water Margin-one is that jealousy can distract people, and the other is ingratitude.

The fate of the former lies in that Wang Lun knows nothing but himself. He only knows that he is a useless scholar, but he is completely unaware of Lin Chong's experience and behavior. Lin Chong didn't like to dominate all his life, but Wang Lun was afraid of him. Lin Chong was forced to retreat all the way through his life, until he retreated to Liangshan to become an outlaw. What he hated most was Gao Qiu, who forced him to such a position. It happened that Wang Lun had to force him again, forcing him to retreat. What's the difference between Wang Lun and Gao Qiu at this moment? For example, how about Song Jiang's martial arts? Why do Wu Song and likui jy kill people without batting an eye, and Dai Zhong and Hua Rong, capable people with power, follow him with unswerving heart?

The latter, by sending Lin Chong away, refuted Chai Jin's face, saying, "I forgot my gratitude the other day, but now I can't take care of him." Kindness can be easily forgotten, which shows how narrow Wang Lun is!

When it comes to the section of conflagration with Wang Lun, although it was arranged by Wu, wouldn't Wang Lun kill himself? He has no talent, and he doesn't know how to win people's hearts, but he still wants to take the first place forever. This way of taking death has long been decided by his character. Lin Chong's influence on Wang Lun, far from being a hidden danger of his "future dominance", is his only support in the face of foreign powerful forces in the future. If the helpless Lin Chong came to take refuge, Wang Lun treated him wholeheartedly and bought him dead set, instead of forcing Lin Chong to be cornered by the three-limit warlords in snowy days, what turmoil could Chao Gai and other seven people make?

Alas, before Wang Lun died:

Ridiculous, sad and deplorable. Where is my heart? They are just standing there, but they are all useless losers like you. Of course, they can't pose any threat to you on weekdays, but at the last moment, they can't save your life.

In a predecessor version of Water Margin, the names of these two men are Du Qian and Song Wan, which are not much different from those of Zhang San and Li Si, showing the positioning of the author. They are characters who sing a supporting role and echo a few words.

After the conflagration with Wang Lun, the two men showed no performance, and were killed when they finally recruited Fang La. Song Jiang gave a comment: I think of Song Wan, although I didn't make outstanding achievements, I owe it to him when the water margin opened. Be a guest under the spring today!

He is both a pioneer and a nobody.

"Dryland Disdiscipline" is a very strange nickname, which makes people puzzled. Some analysts say that Hu Lu is a crocodile, but I think there is some truth in it, and a smiling tiger with his brother can also be regarded as a confrontation.

Zhu Gui is in charge of Liangshan Hotel. In fact, he is the intelligence office and reception office of Liangshan. Zhu Gui did this job almost perfectly. The income that should be collected and the recommendation that should be introduced have not missed a thing in his hands. Among the four early Liangshan people, Zhu Gui, who came last, was the most capable and left a deep impression on readers.

what is rare is that he still has a fair heart, not blindly obeying. It was Wang Lun who refused to lead Lin Chong up the mountain. It was his first speech:

Zhu Gui's words can be described as good words, and they are the foundation of the Jianghu world. He found two key points at once: Lin chong can contribute after he has the ability to win over; It's ungrateful not to accept the recommendation of Chief Chai.

Zhu Gui is fully aware of this insight. Du Qian Song Wandan, who ranks in the front, knows that he can't be ungrateful. As the leader, Wang Lun actually ignores both.
