Tulip Festival in Canada

Ottawa, the capital of Canada, holds a grand tulip festival every year from 195 1, and is known as the "Tulip Capital". If we trace the origin of the festival, it does have a legendary historical origin with the Netherlands.

During World War II, the Netherlands was occupied by fascist Germany. Princess Julianne of the Dutch royal family took refuge in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. 1943 1 month, Princess Julianne is pregnant in October and is about to give birth. It was originally a happy event, but it was caused by some special provisions in the laws of the two countries. According to Canadian law, anyone born in Canada automatically becomes a Canadian citizen at birth. The unwritten rules of the Dutch royal family do not allow members of the royal family to become foreign citizens. For a time, the two governments encountered unprecedented problems.

1in the spring of 945, the Canadian army was transferred from Italy to the Netherlands. He successively laid the foundations of The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and other big cities, and won the Dutch War of Liberation on May 5. On May 6th, the Canadian army accepted the German surrender in Holland on behalf of the Allied Forces. In mid-May, Princess Julianne finally returned to her motherland after a long absence. Tulips are in full bloom when celebrating the victory. The Dutch government immediately decided to present 654.38 million+tulips to Canada to show its respect for the Canadian soldiers who fought bravely for the Netherlands, and to express its heartfelt thanks to the Canadian people for their warm reception of the Crown Prince of the Netherlands.

During the festival, there are 18 scenic spots in Ottawa, stretching for 35 kilometers. Imagine decorating a small city with more than 5 million colorful tulips. It is probably not an exaggeration to describe it as colorful and beautiful. Big tents, various flower and gardening exhibitions, open-air cafes, traditional snacks, street performers and a series of concerts in participating countries are all very lively.
