Tan's surname comes from Si. According to legend, when Yao controlled the water in the Central Plains, Yao sent Gun to control the water, and Gun used blocking method, which failed. It is said that Gun's wife, dream of eating, married Coix lachryma, woke up pregnant and gave birth to Yu. After Shun ascended the throne, Yu, the son of Gun, was appointed to control the water, and Yu adopted the method of dredging, and the result was successful.
