Why isn’t Dongguan Prince Hotel demolished?

The hotel is not demolished because the building is not an illegal building and has legal property rights.

Although the hotel was investigated for illegal activities, the hotel still retains its legal right to exist.

According to Article 23 of the Administrative Enforcement Law, the government has the right to take compulsory measures against illegal buildings or facilities, including but not limited to sealing, closing or demolishing. However, if the building itself is legal, even if its operator has violated the law, the building will usually not be demolished, but can instead undergo legal proceedings to transfer ownership or change use.
