The ruins of the former residence of Martyr Wang Genying are located in the Hanhai Mingyu Hotel at No. 1888 Zhoujiazui Road (at the intersection of Zhoujiazui Road and North Road). It is a district-level cultural relic protection unit in Yangpu District.
In January 2010, the Yangpu District Cultural Bureau erected a monument at the site of the former residence of martyr Wang Genying. In February 2011, it was announced as a "Yangpu District Cultural Relics Protection Unit" by the People's Government of Yangpu District, Shanghai. On March 11, 2021, the former residence of Martyr Wang Genying was selected into the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics in Shanghai.
The life of martyr Wang Genying.
Wang Genying attended a workers' night school run by the party organization in 1923 and received revolutionary enlightenment education. In 1924, he joined the Communist Youth League of China.
In 1925, he participated in the May 30 anti-imperialist and patriotic movement and joined the Communist Party of China.
During the third armed uprising of Shanghai workers in March 1927, he was responsible for transporting and keeping the firearms used by the pickets in Yangshupu area. On the afternoon of March 21, the Yangshupu workers' picket team collected weapons from her house on Taopeng Road and then set off. In April and May of the same year, he went to Wuhan to attend the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Fourth National Labor Conference. Met Chen Geng in Wuhan and became friends. After the Fifth National Congress of the Party, Wang Genying and Chen Geng returned to Shanghai. Chen Geng served as the leader of the Central Special Branch and was responsible for intelligence work. Wang Genying fully assisted, providing a lot of important information to the Party Central Committee and rescuing a large number of arrested comrades.
In December 1933, Wang Genying was arrested at home due to betrayal by a traitor.
After the outbreak of the all-out Anti-Japanese War in 1937, he was rescued and released by the organization and came to Yan'an.
In 1938, he served as the political instructor of the Financial Cadre School of the Supply Department of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army.
On March 8, 1939, he encountered the Japanese army while breaking out of Nangong, Hebei Province, and died heroically.
