Mabul Island Water House Guide Signal + Accommodation + Food + Camera Rental

If you live in Semporna, most of the things you will easily encounter are water houses. A water house is a special form of accommodation that is located close to the sea. The water house originated from the water house of the Bayao people. This kind of house is made of wood. It can be seen that the entire house stands in the middle of the water.

Transportation:

Semporna can be reached from Kota Kinabalu in less than an hour by plane. It should be an AirAsia flight. Remember to buy baggage allowance.

The hotel will have a dedicated person responsible for picking up and dropping off the airport. From the airport, go to the pier and take a speedboat to the island to start real island life.

Mabul Island:

The closest island to the mainland among the many islands in Semporna, there are indigenous people living on the island.

Cost:

Snorkeling will not be arranged when you arrive at the water house on the first day. There will be three snorkeling trips out of the island in the morning, lunch and evening on the second day. You can also go out for snorkeling once before leaving the island before 12 o'clock on the third day. The earliest one seemed to be at eight o'clock in the morning. We were all sleeping and didn't go.

The water houses in Semporna include: Xinjia Motor Water House, Bombang Island Longzhu Resort Water House, Kapalai Water House, Mabul Island swv Sipadan Water House, Mabul Island Sea Villa water house. The most cost-effective one is the Xinjia Motor Water House. The snorkeling package includes island hopping, and the verification package is the cheapest. It is also closest to Semporna Town.

The most expensive water house in Semporna, the sea villa water house on Mabul Island is also the most luxurious water house.

The most popular one is Kapalai Water House, which has more than 60 rooms and is very popular. It needs to be booked more than 2 months in advance.

Bangbang Longzhu Water House has the fewest rooms, with only 5 rooms. It is also hard to find a room.

Because the snorkeling place off the island is near the sea, part of the sea water has been polluted by the indigenous people. In fact, the water quality in the diving center near the water house is very good, and there are many small fish.

Signal on the island:

The signal on the island is really not good, the phone card used is inconsistent, and the hotel's wifi is not good either. Fortunately, we also rented portable wifi, so video chatting was no problem.

Underwater camera:

You can rent a GoPro on the island, and the cost seems to be 400 MYR for two days

Snorkeling equipment:

It is recommended to bring your own wetsuit and diving gear, otherwise you need to borrow equipment from the sand house area in advance

Meals:

The food at the water house is much better than I expected, and there will be a barbecue every night Salmon or something like that. It is said that people from Sand House need to pay 80 MYR per person to eat at Water House, black people with question mark faces.

Go deep diving in Sipadan:

There is an additional fee. The price is different if you have a diving certificate or not, and you need to sign up to apply for a lottery spot. It is recommended to stay for four days and three nights to go deep diving in Sipadan, otherwise you will be pressed for time. You cannot fly for 24 hours after deep diving.

Aborigines:

They will not go into the water house area. They will row boats to sell the caught seafood. Remember to bargain, and the restaurant will help with processing.
