In the 20th year of Jiaqing (18 15), Tang Wenzao, a magistrate of a county, presided over the comprehensive renovation. The plaque "Wenguang Pagoda" is engraved with "Jiaqing Yihai Mengdong" on the left and "Zhang Yu Tang Wenzao Li" on the right. On both sides of the tower gate, there is an inscription by Tang Wenzao: "A thousand years of writing vibrates the stone, and a hundred feet of light shines through the bullfight." It was repaired three times in 1956, 198 1 and 2008, and the original structure and appearance were maintained.

Wenguang Pagoda is located on the east side of Zhonghua Road, Chaoyang District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. 1989, Wenguang Pagoda was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. On May 3rd, 20 13, Wenguang Pagoda was announced by People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
