What raw materials are needed to make carpets?
All carpets are made from crude fibers. With the exception of a few carpets, the fibers are spun into yarn and then made into carpets by one of three methods: weaving, tufting, and gluing. All carpet fibers have distinctive characteristics, such as warmth, cleanliness, abrasion resistance, flame retardancy and price. The lifespan and appearance of a carpet depend on the fiber selected and its content in the carpet. Where affordable, multiple fibers are sometimes mixed for optimal performance. There are two types of carpet fibers: natural fibers and man-made fibers. Natural fibers Wool Wool is the oldest and most common natural fiber. It is particularly suitable for the production of carpets because of its excellent wear resistance and long-lasting appearance. Wool does not support combustion and does not generate static electricity under normal conditions. Silk Except for fine handcrafted carpets, people rarely use silk to produce carpets. Jute Jute is primarily used as a backing material; it is occasionally used as a surface fiber for plain weave craft rugs. Coconut fiber Coconut shell contains strong and soft fibers. Coconut husks are harvested and soaked for several months before being squeezed, washed and dried. This pale yellow fiber is spun into yarn and eventually woven into flat-weave rugs or cut-pile rugs and rugs. Linen Linen is used in loop pile and flat weave rugs and rugs. Man-Made Fibers Since the early 1950s, man-made fibers have become popular and the performance of man-made carpet fibers has made tremendous progress. Acrylic fiber The abrasion resistance of acrylic fiber is not as good as nylon, and the flame retardant performance is not as good as wool, but it has better expansion and elasticity. Polyamide (nylon) There are many brands of nylon, such as: ANTRON, Anso and Timbrelle. Nylon is a strong and elastic fiber that resists stains well and is less susceptible to stains than early nylon carpets. It is flammable and prone to static electricity than wool. Nylon is often added to wool to improve the fabric's abrasion resistance, especially where pile weight and density are low. The most common brand of nylon is ANTRON, which is produced by DuPont and has good durability and softness. Polyester fiber Polyester fiber is used in luxurious Saxon carpets. It is less resistant to flattening than some fibers, but has excellent wear resistance. Polypropylene fiber Polypropylene fiber has good wear resistance, but its elasticity is not as good as other fibers. It is easy to clean, but it will leave scars after fire. Viscose fiber Viscose fiber is not as elastic as most other fibers and it flattens easily, but it is relatively inexpensive. Yarn The quality of a carpet depends on the raw materials selected and the production technology. All rugs are made from coarse fibers that are usually spun into yarn and then woven or tufted into fabric for the store. The spinning process includes: 1. Mixing raw wool together in precise proportions according to the desired characteristics and feel of the yarn; 2. The mixtures are removed, torn and carded until they become straight, white and free of impurities ; 3. The fibers are organically expanded, layered, and then cross-layered. Finally, the fiber network is made into rovings. The rovings are stretched and twisted on the spinning machine to increase the strength of the single yarn; 4. Two or more yarns. Yarns are twisted or combined together to form a yarn with high tensile strength. It can be woven and tufted using high-tech machinery with high efficiency and low cost, thus providing a high-quality raw material with superior advantages. Yarns and the best combination at the most economical prices.
