What do Americans think of the Nanjing Massacre?

I am in California, USA. A while ago, I talked to a white man about the APA hotel in a volunteer office. White people are interested in the history and culture of China, have heard of the Nanjing Massacre, disagree with APA, and stand on the same side as China. Not only this person, I also know other white people who know something about the Nanjing Massacre, and their views also support China's condemnation of the Japanese.
