Quanzhou archway cultural relics reappear in its heyday
1992 During the construction of Donghu Park, a granite archway with reinforced concrete structure of1/kloc-0 was built in the main scenic spot in the middle of the lake, which was the first attempt of contemporary builders to restore the landscape of Quanzhou Paifang Group. But there is only an abstract form, lacking cultural connotation.
1995, in the northeast suburb of Quanzhou, General Shilang Cemetery and Shiling Cemetery were rebuilt with antique stone workshops and several stone pavilions, and four antique stone archways were built in the park, all of which were towering with four columns and simple shapes.
1997 While the East Street was widened and rebuilt, Zhuangyuan Street, a pedestrian street with the main landscape of restoring the archway of the ancient city, was planned and built. Zhuangyuan Street is on the south side of East Street, about 300 meters long, and there are seven archways from east to west.
The first one is the square of "Embroidering Xie, Law Enforcement in Taiwan", which was originally located in Dongmen Street. This time, the original square component was used, and the insufficient part was rebuilt on the west side of Qingbaiyuan well in the north of Nanjun Lane according to the photo file.
The second is Zhuangyuan Square, which is engraved with the names and academic years of six top liberal arts scholars, showing the prosperity of humanities in Quanzhou history.
There are also archways such as "Tai Kang Yong Zhao, See the Dragon in the Field", "Baiyun Ancient Land, Beichen Statue", "Four Bachelor", "Yue Xian Waterfront" and "Zou Lu by the Sea", which are scattered from east to west.
Sanskrit and couplets inherit the historical context of Quanzhou.
For example, Zou Lu by the Sea is the language of Ziyang Zhu Wengong (Zhu), and its "Eight Fujian is better than the unparalleled place, and the four seas are the first state" was originally written by Quanzhou officials, yamen company and Quanzhou famous official Wang in the Southern Song Dynasty; (List of Zhu and Wang from Quanzhou).
"Yue Xian Waterfront" Square, its couplet "The air between the clear and the shallow has a suicide note" was written by Tanhua Huang for Quanzhou Guild Hall in Beijing; (List of Quanzhou People, Huang).
"Four Academies" was written by Zhu, a philosopher in the Southern Song Dynasty, for the former residence of Ouyang Zhan, a writer in the Tang Dynasty. (Quanzhou Ouyang Zhan's name list)
Zhuangyuan Street Paifang Group surpasses Donghu Park Paifang Group in construction technology, ornamental value and cultural connotation. Most of the newly-built archways are boundary squares, such as Qingyuan Mountain and Lingshan Holy Tomb, as well as the entrances of Baiyuan Temple and Chongfu Temple.
1999, two stone-wood archways with Qing dynasty style were newly built at the north and south ends of the food street in the central city of Quanzhou. The square "Wenling Food Street" was inscribed by Mayor Shi Yongkang. The construction of these archways beautified the environment and created a corresponding historical and cultural atmosphere.
