The applied English major, formerly known as English education major, was established in 1994, which is one of the earlier majors in Kaifeng University. In 2006, in order to cultivate students' comprehensive quality and broaden employment channels, English education major was transformed into applied English major. This major aims to cultivate high-tech applied talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, with industry access qualifications and good professional ethics, understanding the basic knowledge of British and American culture, business and tourism, mastering good Chinese expression ability and basic skills of English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, and meeting the front-line needs of culture, education, tourism, foreign affairs and trade. Encourage students to obtain certificates such as teacher qualification certificate, national English proficiency test level 3 certificate, college English level 4 certificate, and English tour guide certificate.
