Business English major enjoys a certain popularity and good reputation among peers and employers in and outside the province by virtue of its long experience in running schools and experienced teachers. We hosted the first national business English seminar; The teaching and research section is invited to participate in various foreign language teaching seminars at different levels in China many times every year; And held open classes at the first and second national business English teaching seminars in higher vocational colleges, which were well received by experts and leaders.

There are 15 full-time and part-time teachers in business English major, all of whom have the qualification certificate of college teachers and the quality of double teachers. There are 7 associate professors and 8 lecturers. Teachers with senior titles account for 45% of full-time teachers, and teachers with intermediate titles account for 55% of full-time teachers. From the perspective of academic structure, there are 5 teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 33%. Among the full-time and part-time teachers, there are 4 under the age of 40, and 2 young teachers under the age of 35 have master's degree or above, accounting for 50% of young teachers. The rest of the teachers have bachelor's degrees and bachelor's degrees. In addition, this major has long hired 1 foreign teachers with many years of teaching experience. The curriculum of Business English major is based on the Catalogue of Higher Vocational Education Guidance Major in Colleges and Universities, focusing on the cultivation of students' practical ability, promoting the construction and reform of other courses with excellent courses, and establishing a scientific, reasonable and complete curriculum system consisting of professional public courses, compulsory courses, vocational elective courses, special ability training projects and comprehensive ability practice training projects. The main courses offered are business English listening, business English speaking, business English intensive reading, business English extensive reading, business letter writing, business English translation, business English communication skills, British and American culture, documentary practice, international marketing, international trade practice, office automation and so on. Among them, vocational public courses account for 13% of the total hours, vocational compulsory courses account for 83% of the total hours, and vocational elective courses account for 4% of the total hours. At present, there are two excellent courses for business English majors: business letter writing and British and American culture.

Business English majors pay attention to the cultivation of students' practical ability and professional ability, the development and construction of training bases, and all-round and multi-channel cooperation with enterprises. At present, business English majors have cooperated with Kaifeng Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Kaifeng Knight Co., Ltd., Kaifeng Air Separation Group and other enterprises and institutions to build practice bases to meet the needs of students' practical teaching and arrange internships and employment for graduates. The teaching equipment of Business English major is advanced, with 3 language training rooms and 4 multimedia classrooms to meet the needs of teachers' practical teaching. The applied English major, formerly known as English education major, was established in 1994, which is one of the earlier majors in Kaifeng University. In 2006, in order to cultivate students' comprehensive quality and broaden employment channels, English education major was transformed into applied English major. This major aims to cultivate high-tech applied talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, with industry access qualifications and good professional ethics, understanding the basic knowledge of British and American culture, business and tourism, mastering good Chinese expression ability and basic skills of English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, and meeting the front-line needs of culture, education, tourism, foreign affairs and trade. Encourage students to obtain certificates such as teacher qualification certificate, national English proficiency test level 3 certificate, college English level 4 certificate, and English tour guide certificate.

The applied English major has a team of teachers with reasonable academic structure, professional title structure and age structure, full-time teachers and part-time teachers complement each other, are willing to contribute and unite sincerely. At present, there are professional teachers 15, including 8 graduate students, 4 associate professors, 4 teachers over 40 years old, 8 teachers under 30-40 years old, 3 teachers under 30 years old, full-time teachers in schools 10 and 5 part-time teachers in enterprises.
