Why can’t Zhengzhou retain talents?

I am from Zhengzhou. I went to college in Zhengzhou and to Xi'an for postgraduate studies. Most of them chose Xi'an for postgraduate entrance examinations. Five of them passed the exam. After graduation, they all stayed in Xi'an and no one went back. How can I put it this way? During my four years of undergraduate studies, I have always felt that Zhengzhou is very depressing. People are very indifferent to each other. Urban development does not take into account people's requirements and feelings for the quality of life. Housing prices have been skyrocketing, which has made young people despair.

After I was admitted to Xi'an, everything suddenly became clear. The entire city was developing very steadily. Although the urban construction had shortcomings, it was steady and progressive. The development of the two cities could be clearly seen during the graduation recruitment. There is a big gap. When I was an undergraduate, the university was one of the best in Henan. During the recruitment process, most of the recruits were from local companies that I couldn’t even name. With a salary of over RMB 5,000, they were regarded as conscientious companies. However, when I arrived in Xi’an, the university was not considered the best in Xi’an. Okay, but they are all well-known companies. ZTE, Huawei, Alibaba, JD.com, and Wanda all recruit directly from their headquarters. One of the guys in the dormitory is now in the legal department of Alibaba headquarters, with a monthly salary of 40,000. There is also a district-level civil servant whose monthly salary plus year-end bonus is equivalent to about 9,000. Those of us who stayed in Xi'an bought a house in the first year in Xi'an. Our parents made a down payment and provided the rest with provident fund loans, which amounted to two to three thousand yuan a month. There was little pressure. .

The biggest problems in Zhengzhou are: first, housing prices, which are a deadlock; second, wages, I always feel that Zhengzhou seems to think that Henan people should get such low wages; third, the economic development model is single, the largest in the world Companies in Zhengzhou, in addition to contributing GDP data that is impressive on paper, what else do they bring to Zhengzhou? Employment? Okay, I admit it. I hope Zhengzhou Kang can live for 10,000 years. What will happen to hundreds of thousands of people if it goes bankrupt or relocates?

Zhengzhou, Henan Why can’t the capital city of a province retain talented people? I think there are several aspects.

1. It is difficult to get things done and to be efficient. A residence permit can be enough. Before 2015, I lived in a village in the city. At that time, it took a month to get the residence permit. I took the rental contract and the landlord issued it. To prove it, go to the police station where you live to have ten fingerprints recorded, videotape it, and fill in the form. It basically takes an hour to complete the procedure. Once it’s over, you can wait for a month to get your residence permit. Now! Taxes have been collected on renting a house, but the landlord is not willing to ask the tenant for a residence permit. It is probably because the process is slow, which can take as short as three months and as long as half a year. It also needs to be registered with the Housing Authority. The landlord is afraid of collecting taxes and is reluctant to apply for the residence permit with the tenant. It is also troublesome. It cannot be done in one or two times! In fact, the tax was wrongly levied. A vacant house tax should be levied instead of a house rental tax, which is counterproductive.

2. Low income. In most companies, you only get a salary of about 3,000 when you join. And renting a house costs 1,500 to 2,000 (one bedroom and one living room), which is not very safe. Basically, I work for the landlord and don’t pay any money. What’s the reason? As a result of the excessive rectification of urban villages, all urban villages were demolished at once but could not be built. This is a step too big and is too big. We are not opposed to the construction of urban villages, but they should be constructed in an orderly manner. Instead of pushing it to a large area at once but failing to build it. This is an important reason for the increase in housing rental prices and an important reason for the brain drain.

3. House prices are growing too fast. I remember that from September to November 2015, house prices increased by about 5,000 to 8,000 in just two days. Most could not bear the pressure and fled Zhengzhou one after another.

There are many reasons that I will not list here one by one.

As someone who has stayed in Zhengzhou for nearly 10 years, I still have a certain say!

First of all, it is determined by the income level! Zhengzhou’s income level determines that it cannot retain talents! At present, the basic salary level in Zhengzhou is still around 3,000-4,000, but the consumption level is catching up with first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou! What has been rising in Zhengzhou is the price of housing. The rise in housing prices directly affects the price of renting a house! In 2015, Zhengzhou's urban villages were demolished. The rent of a single room in the urban villages rose crazily from about 300 to more than 600 in two or three months! What followed was a continuous increase in house prices in 2016. The house prices in the third ring road were still around 9,000, but in just a few months, the house prices outside the fourth ring road rose to more than 10,000. At the most impressive time, a house of about 100 square meters went up like crazy by 200,000 yuan in one month! Housing prices in urban areas are easily 20,000. This is undoubtedly a huge pressure for people who still earn more than 3,000 or 4,000 yuan in salary! After working hard for a year, I estimate that I can only afford a house of 1 square meter! Renting is a choice they have to make. Now Zhengzhou basically has no urban villages, and there are no cheap houses to rent! More people have no choice but to choose to rent in a community, and now a room in a community in Zhengzhou costs more than 1,000 a month! This number is already half of most Zheng Piao’s salary! In addition to the rent, plus food, clothing and transportation, there is very little left. In order to save the cost of renting a house, some people even have no choice but to choose group renting. Needless to say, the conditions for group renting. . . . Will this give people a sense of belonging? ! Perhaps, some people will say that these low-paid people are not talents, but a large part of talents are cultivated from these little people!

Next, there is the situation of enterprises in Zhengzhou. Zhengzhou is a commercial city. The most indispensable thing in this heavily commercialized city is salesmen, but salesmanship is a profession with high mobility and a very low threshold! Most enterprises in Zhengzhou are small bosses. What they value most is profits. They cannot give their employees development opportunities and will only try to squeeze their employees' residual value to the greatest extent possible! There is also the working system of Zhengzhou companies. It can be said that companies in Zhengzhou now have a 6-day work system for those over 90 years old! Not to mention the unpaid overtime every day! There is no need to mention the 8-hour work system. Just be thankful that you are not required to work 10 hours a day. Companies in Zhengzhou don’t respect employees’ personal time! There are also not many well-known companies in Zhengzhou. For talents with high education and high-tech skills, there are basically not many jobs suitable for them in Zhengzhou! And there are very few companies that can pay high salaries! Companies like Huawei, Tencent, and Alibaba that can earn tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars a month basically don’t exist! Maybe there are, but there are really not many people who can earn this amount based on their salary! In Zhengzhou, there is basically no need for such highly sophisticated technical work. Due to the nature of companies like Zhengzhou, many Zhengzhou company bosses speak out. A friend of mine works in a company in Zhengzhou. He was with the company when it was first established. Probably because the boss was short of funds, he raised funds from several of their veteran employees and promised them dividends. In 2018, his annual salary plus dividends amounted to more than 800,000 yuan. However, at the beginning of 2019, it was announced that it would no longer pay dividends. The monthly salary is only 10,000-20,000 yuan, but I just bought a house last year and the mortgage payment is more than 9,000 yuan per month. . . There are also some friends who work in Shanghai and Beijing who want to work in Zhengzhou. Either they don’t have the same job as they did before, or they can earn 50,000-60,000 yuan a month in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and the maximum salary they can get in Zhengzhou is 20,000 yuan.

Next, there is education in Zhengzhou and even Henan! As a province with a large population, it is very embarrassing. Currently, there is only one 211 University in Zhengzhou in Henan - Zhengzhou University! As a result, Henan's college entrance examination is the most difficult in the country! This has resulted in Zhengzhou and even Henan being unable to cultivate more highly educated talents! Coupled with Zhengzhou's embarrassing status as a second-tier city and the situation of Zhengzhou's enterprises, more highly educated talents will flow to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

After all, they have more opportunities in these cities, and there are more companies and jobs suitable for them in these cities, as well as remuneration that suits them!

Also, Zhengzhou is an inland city. Pollution is very serious, and haze is the norm every winter. If you see blue sky and white clouds one day, your circle of friends will definitely be maxed out! Traffic is also a problem in Zhengzhou. Zhengzhou Zhengzhou, if trenches are dug every day, if one day is not dug, it is not called Zhengzhou! In Zhengzhou, traffic jams are the norm. Every time I drive, I always listen to the Zhengzhou Traffic Radio. The most common traffic jams are everywhere in Zhengzhou! As someone who has semi-escaped Zhengzhou, I am quite relieved to hear this. At least I no longer have to suffer in traffic jams.

In summary, in my opinion, the reasons why Zhengzhou cannot retain talents are the following points: the salary is too low, and this is also the most important! There are not many competitive large companies in Zhengzhou to retain talents! The pollution is serious! Traffic jam is serious.

The fundamental reason why Zhengzhou cannot retain talents is that the private economy is underdeveloped and the urban population is too small.

Objectively speaking, whether Zhengzhou people see Zhengzhou or outsiders see Zhengzhou, Zhengzhou gives people the impression that it is just a market, or a transportation hub center. We welcome the past, but we ourselves can retain nothing.

This is a bit like Hefei, Anhui. But Zhengzhou is not as good as Hefei, because Hefei's private economy and population are stronger than Zhengzhou.

The private economy is underdeveloped, which leads locals to find jobs around civil servants, enterprises and institutions. Even if there are a small number of private enterprises, they serve civil servants, enterprises and institutions.

As a result of this situation, even locals cannot be satisfied with employment, so how can we talk about attracting talents? Even if talents come, they are not working. You can’t drink northwest wind in Zhengzhou, right?

The direct result of this is that the urban population is too small, the population is too small, and the private economy is even less developed.

The two add up to form a vicious circle.

The top priority is to establish some policy support and even incentives to attract private enterprises to take root and develop, and to promote the private economy. In this way, talents can come and be retained.

I graduated from 211 University and went to Zhengzhou directly after graduation. I stayed in Zhengzhou for more than three years and now I have left.

What retains talent? Enterprises, wages, consumption, etc. are all factors to be considered.

1/Enterprises

There are very few relatively good enterprises in Zhengzhou. The vast majority are small companies with less than 50 employees. Discussing development prospects, learning and improvement, and internal training are basically out of the question. And the jobs are relatively basic and low-end. The vast majority of positions with low entry threshold for sales are telemarketing (make phone calls every day and have good conversational skills, most of which are scams), online sales (developing customers through QQ, WeChat and other tools) or a combination of telemarketing and online sales Or offline business sales. Sales basically consist of a base salary and commission. Of course, everyone who works in sales knows that commission is what makes a living. The basic salary is pitiful. And extremely unstable. Once you leave a company, in most cases the customers and resources you have accumulated will be gone.

2/Salary

The situation of the company and the job position determine the salary. Most wages in Zhengzhou are around 3-4k. Most of the positions are in sales, the salary is not fixed, sometimes more and sometimes less, and the pressure is high. In addition, there are relatively technical positions such as administration, art, and operations. The salary of positions with certain technical skills will be higher, but it will not be the same as the first-tier and second-tier jobs such as Chengdu and Wuhan.

3/Consumption

When I came to Zhengzhou in 2015/16, urban villages still existed. Renting in urban villages such as Liuzhuang and Chenzhai generally cost around 500-600 per month for a single room. . And eating in these places is relatively affordable. Life is relatively stress-free. Sixteen years later, after the urban villages in Zhengzhou were demolished, rental prices soared, and a single room (single apartment) could be rented for less than 1,200 yuan per month.

Many people rent houses that are separated into many rooms by intermediaries, and only use the bathroom and kitchen. It is very inconvenient and the price is not cheap. I have seen a three-bedroom apartment divided into six rooms before, with more than ten people living together. One of the rooms was only a few square meters, with a small bed and a small cabinet, and no windows. The price of the bed upon entering is 700 yuan/month. After 2018, rental prices have slightly decreased. Plus meals, transportation, etc. Even if you have to spend 2,500 a month, you may not be able to stop.

According to the salary level of most people, it is difficult to live/save money in Zhengzhou.

In one sentence, it is the popular saying: Dreams cannot be carried here, and the body cannot be accommodated here. . .

Don’t say that anyone with a salary of 3/4,000 is not considered a talent. The city where you live plays a huge decisive role in a person's salary level. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many people across the country going to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the coast. .

People say that this is good in Zhengzhou, that this is a good policy today, and that will be good tomorrow. Newspapers and public accounts praise Zhengzhou every day as a national central city. But how many specific benefits have reached the common people? Even building a national central city takes time. It’s impossible to give you a good policy this year and then catch up with you next year.

Based on my personal experience, for fresh graduates, they still have a blank piece of paper with nothing to do. They should go to the front line first and have more opportunities and development. After studying for a few years, You still need to be strong in blacksmithing. Once you have certain skills, you can come to work in Zhengzhou. Consider your skills and work experience. It will be relatively easy to find a job with a salary of 5,000.

The topic of talent has always been a hot topic. Some cities are crazy about recruiting people and offering various preferential conditions to attract talents to settle down. All cities are enthusiastic about the demand for talents. For example, Nanjing said, come for an interview and receive a subsidy of 1,000 yuan; Xi'an police even went to Luoyang and Sanmenxia to work as talent "salesmen", and even the arrogant Beijing got "points" "Settlement" calls for talents.

Zhengzhou has always been "thirsty for talents" when it comes to talents. As a "new first-tier city", Zhengzhou is very aggressive in robbing people, but some people say that Zhengzhou cannot retain talents.

Being born and raised in Zhengzhou, I still have some experience of my own. I have a classmate who went to Zhengzhou University and majored in computer science, which is a relatively popular major. However, after she graduated, she went directly to Beijing without a second thought. She said that Beijing was more tempting to her than Zhengzhou. There are too few preferential policies for college graduates, so go to Beijing. It's right to think about it. For college graduates, this is an important node in life. They must consider their future development and which city they want to stay in. They will first consider a series of policies of the city for graduates. If it is conducive to your career planning and development, and the policies are relatively good, then you will definitely stay here!

Another issue is urban construction and urban environment. There is a joke that everyone in Zhengzhou has heard, "Zhengzhou, Zhengzhou, digs trenches every day; if ditches are not dug, it is not called Zhengzhou." In fact, it is quite ironic. Our urban construction has given the people an uneasy feeling. Dig here today and fence there tomorrow. Let alone retaining talents, you may not even be able to cultivate a good impression of Zhengzhou. How can talents stay in Zhengzhou? This is also one of the reasons why some people say that Zhengzhou cannot retain talents.

Next, food, clothing, housing and transportation are the most basic needs of people. How to meet these needs? You must be rich... To be honest, the consumption level in Zhengzhou is quite high, but what about the salary? Many of my friends chose to work hard in Zhengzhou after graduating from college. Some of them changed jobs one after another, but they were not satisfied with the salary. It was more than 3,000 or 4,000 a month, and they couldn't save much at all! The consumption level is high, and prices are not only high but also rising rapidly, but wages are lagging behind. This is why talents choose to leave Zhengzhou.

(Shi Shangjing, editor of Henan Business Daily)

I have seen a lot in Zhengzhou for 8 years. When I just graduated and came back, I was full of ambitions, but Zhengzhou gave me What should I say? In 2011, the average salary in Zhengzhou was 1,200. At that time, renting a house in urban villages was cheaper than 300 per month. The general company in Zhengzhou was a trading company. The basic salary was raised in 2013. The average salary in Zhengzhou was around 2,300. Zhongcun is still renting a house for about 500 yuan. At this time, Zhengzhou is starting to recruit some decent companies. In 2015, urban villages have been renovated less and less. The salary in Zhengzhou is about 2,500 and the rental price is about 1,000. At this time, companies are basically recruiting through agency companies. 16 In 2018, the salary in urban villages was basically around 3,000, and the rental cost was around 2,000, and it was not easy to find.

There is a very strange phenomenon at this time that the recruitment positions are all kinds of strange, and the companies are basically near the Third Ring Road or around the ring road. In addition, renting a house is basically within the ring, and transportation costs are rising!

Enterprise units do not have the patience and capital investment to cultivate talents. They basically rely on new employees to explore, wasting time and company resources. Relying on connections has become the norm, and the abnormal development of enterprises has created talent gaps... Aspiring employees The loss of talents is serious. Although the government adopts housing purchase subsidies to attract talents, without a good platform, it is only treating the symptoms but not the root cause!

Zhengzhou is a city with a large population. It is not a city developed by production and technology. This is the main reason for brain drain...

I grew up in Zhengzhou and worked in Beijing after going to university. A few years later, I came back and worked in a company. In the blink of an eye, more than ten years have passed. A huge infrastructure infrastructure has been built, but the improvement of humanistic literacy software has obviously not caught up with the changes in the physical environment. I feel that the current humanistic environment in Zhengzhou It still has the same flavor as when I was in middle school, and there is even a gap between it and Beijing more than ten years ago. On the whole, a healthy and mature business atmosphere has not yet been formed, and the thinking of the main people is still in the small farmer economy and government agencies. There are many people living a dawdling life, and few people doing things based on their interests and ideals. Even if you want to work in this environment, it is difficult. To use an analogy, it is like throwing a business elite who flies around the world into a county town to find another job. The feeling is the same, the vision and understanding of the main group are still very shallow. As far as talents are concerned, maybe they would rather start from another place with ideals and platforms and spend their whole life chasing the qualifications of life, rather than live a boring life in a place where they can see the end at a glance.

In addition, the city’s heritage is getting weaker and weaker. Zhengzhou was originally an emerging city. It was founded only after liberation. Over the past few decades, its development has been the same every decade since 1980. It was once called Green City. In the 1990s, the commercial wars in several major shopping malls such as Asia in Huanerqi Tower became famous throughout the country and they were given the title of shopping mall. Around 2000, Zhengzhou’s technology market could even compete with Zhongguancun. Around 2010, people from all over the huge urban village came to hunt for gold. It has also stimulated the city's strong vitality, but all this has not been properly managed, utilized and developed. In addition, the number of excellent universities in Henan is too small, and there are fewer high-quality enterprises and talent development platforms. The lack of excellent education and high-quality jobs is also a major reason. Also, most of the outstanding talents have gone abroad and rarely come back. I once asked some of my friends who are away from home why they don’t come back. One of their answers was: What is there in Zhengzhou? But I can't refute, saying that there are your parents and relatives? Maybe it can’t be used as a reason for those of us who are upright and in the prime of life... Zhengzhou is located in the Central Plains, a place made of reinforced concrete on the Wanli Plain on the south bank of the Yellow River. Sometimes I have a rest but don’t know where in Zhengzhou I can go often. When gathering local friends, we often spend a long time researching where to go.

The current Zhengzhou is a conservative and old-fashioned city; a city with no heritage; a city where everyone is living; a city with a lack of entertainment.

Of course, I believe that materiality determines consciousness. With the transformation and upgrading of Zhengzhou and the formation of a modern metropolitan pattern, many colleges and universities have been established in recent years. With good talent attraction and investment policies, they can attract The entry of more and more organizations and people with broad vision and advanced cognition will gradually lead to changes in people's ideological consciousness, but all this requires our efforts and the catalysis of time.

Speaking of this issue, I really want to go back to Zhengzhou in the 1990s. In 1995, I ate at a small Samsung restaurant in Zhengzhou. I had two cold dishes, two bottles of beer, and two large bowls of shredded pork noodles. Two meat dumplings cost NT$26. Beer was very expensive at that time, six yuan for two bottles. In 1999, braised noodles in a small restaurant cost 2.5 yuan, cold vegetarian dishes were 2 to 2.5 yuan, and beer was 2 yuan. At that time, the salary of ordinary employees was 900 yuan to 1,100 yuan per month. The average price of a house (multi-story) is 600 yuan per square meter, and it is still in the city center, around the second ring road. At that time, the consumption level was slightly higher than that in the county town. Rent a single room near the second ring road for 50-70 yuan for more than 10 square meters. Standard rooms are more expensive, about 90-100 yuan per month. At that time, there were villages all over the city. Although the quality of food and clothing was not very good, it was much cheaper. When I was working in Zhengzhou, I always thought that although wages were lower than those in neighboring cities, consumption was also low and very stable. Although I now own a house and a car and have long since left the urban village life, the large-scale transformation of urban villages in Zhengzhou in recent years has caused huge obstacles to the downstream economy. A large number of lower-level workers, handicraftsmen, small workshops, small businesses, and casual workers have been lost. The society lacks competition, and the cost of living has skyrocketed, greatly raising the threshold for urban development. This puts pressure on many fresh graduates to work. The salary of every company recruiting graduates will not be too high. To be honest, the work performance of most graduates in the first one or two years is very low. To put it more clearly, in the first half of the year, they are basically dispensable. In fact, after the vast majority of graduates join the workforce, they will change jobs soon. The company also loses the motivation to train people. Nowadays, most people are recruited and trained half-time. There is also a group of technical elites who do not choose to work in companies with wages, but mostly choose to develop in remote cities and villages. Therefore, I feel that Zhengzhou cannot retain talents. The main thing is that the cost of living is too high. It’s hard to work, and the capital to start a business is too high. I have always believed that the transformation of urban villages in Zhengzhou may be a major failure in Zhengzhou’s economic development.

I am traveling in Zhengzhou and have a very bad impression. There is a mess everywhere. I heard that the Henan Museum has been under construction for several years. It is a provincial museum and an important cultural center in the Central Plains. It has a few pitiful exhibits and terrible service. The humanistic environment is even more pitiful. The hotel I stayed in in a commercial district had many artificial roadblocks. I could only take the motorway with my suitcase, and there was no sidewalk. The security guard also stopped me and asked me what I was doing. What else could I do in the business district besides consumption? The brain circuits of Henan people are so strange. On the way back and forth, I saw many elderly people with limited mobility dragging heavy shopping carts; mothers pushing strollers had to find their own way to get under the traffic barrier. The security guard refused to lift up the traffic barrier. Extremely disrespectful. I regret coming to such a city. The high-speed rail station is also being repaired here and there. Many doors are inaccessible. There are long queues at the few security checkpoints. The service attitude of the security inspectors is hard to describe. Is this the capital city of Henan Province? Henan Province, I will never visit again. I can't imagine living in such an environment for a long time.

The picture shows a couple working together to lift a stroller over a traffic barrier, while the security guard looks on bossily. Feeling sad.
