6. Shaanxi Xiangshan
Xiangshan-Zhaojin Provincial Scenic Area is located in Yao County, Shaanxi Province, more than 40 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of ??about 312 square kilometers. It is currently the largest scenic spot in our province The largest provincial scenic spot. There are two major scenic spots in the scenic area: Xiangshan Mountain and the former site of Zhaojin Revolutionary Base. The scenic area has overlapping mountains, criss-crossing river valleys, and chalk-grade sandy conglomerate geological landforms distributed in the northeast and southwest directions. It has a unique landscape and a forest coverage rate of more than 85%. It is a well-preserved natural secondary forest area with more than 250 species of wild animals and more than 800 plants. species, with high value for scientific research, teaching and sightseeing.
Xiangshan is located in Miaowan Town, northwest of Yao County, between Liangshan Mountain and Qiaoshan Mountain Range, with an average altitude of 1,415 meters. The three peaks standing in the east, west and middle were called "Three Stone Mountain" in ancient times. There is a poem praising: "In the old days when poetry was chanted at the top of Taihua Mountain, the inkstone pool was taken from the Yangtian Pool. I also borrowed three rocks and three peaks to use as a pen for my Lingyun Pen." Therefore, it is also called Bijia Mountain. In the 23rd year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, the temple was rebuilt and the name was changed. Xiangshan.
Xiangshan is one of the eight Buddhist holy places in my country. It is said that Princess Miaoshan became a Buddha (namely Guanyin Bodhisattva) here, so she is famous for the miraculous Bodhisattva. Xiangshan Temple began in Fu Qin, flourished in Yao Qin, and became a Buddhist resort in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties. It was repeatedly abandoned and rebuilt in the following dynasties. In the Song Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, it was continued to be built and expanded, and gradually formed the main temples such as Baique Temple, Longquan Temple, Shengguoyuan, Qifeng Cave, Zhundi Daoyuan Yongshan Hall, and Yunya Temple. The Buddhist architectural complex is called the Eight Great Jungles. Now only Baique Temple, Longquan Temple, Qifeng Cave, and the True Body Hall of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes remain.
Baique Temple is located in the west of Yaoyu Village at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain. It has three buildings with wooden rafters and green tile roofs, and a stone monument in front of it. This is one of the earliest temples built in Xiangshan. Longquan Temple was built on the cliff, and now only a clear spring and monochrome murals on the broken wall remain, telling the story of its past glory. There is the famous Prince Temple in the north of the scenic area, located in Sanzheng Village, Dongchuan. There are caves of different sizes carved into the cliff here. One of the caves used to house the statue of the prince of King Suddhodana (ancient India) of Kalavastu, the Sakyamuni before he became a monk, so it is called Prince Temple. There are two double-layer murals of about 6 square meters on the rock wall next to it. According to research, they are from the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Qifeng Cave is backed by a cliff and has a golden seated statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva with thousands of hands and eyes. Every year on the ten days before and after March 15th of the lunar calendar and during the temple fair around October 15th, people who climb mountains to worship Buddha gather here to burn incense and worship Buddha, making it very lively. During the two sessions, the mountain scenery may be pleasant in spring, uniquely fragrant, or full of drunken red eyes, and the air is crisp in autumn, making pilgrims and tourists feel refreshed and return home with a full load.

The shape of the mountain is like a tripod, so it is called "Baoding", with an altitude of 1590.8 meters. Eunuchs, believers, poets and poets from past dynasties came in droves to burn incense and worship Buddha, pray devoutly, sightsee and explore, and enjoy the scenery. 8. Fuyan Temple in Hengshan, Hunan
April 1, 2007
Fuyan Temple is located in Tobo The eastern foot of the peak is one of the ten largest jungles in Buddhism. It is quite famous in the history of Chinese Buddhism. It is a famous place for the southern sect of Zen Buddhism to spread its teachings. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Hunan Province.
According to "Nanyue Zhi": Fuyan Temple was originally called Prajna Temple, also known as Prajna Terrace. It was founded by Zen Master Huisi, the second ancestor of the Tiantai Sect of Buddhism, in the first year of Chen Guangda (AD 567). One of the oldest famous temples in Nanyue. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty once gave fifty volumes of the Royal Book of Sanskrit Sutras to the temple for collection. In the second year of Xiantian of the Tang Dynasty (713 AD), Zen Master Huairang came to Nanyue and turned Prajna Temple into a Zen dojo. Through his disciple Zen Master Daoyi, he taught the Dharma. Zi used this temple as a Buddhist temple to teach Buddhism, which shows its prominent position in the Southern Sect. During the Taiping and Xingguo period of the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 976 to 984), he served as the abbot of the temple. He led the monks to plant pine and fir trees around the temple, rebuilt and expanded the temple, and renamed Prajna Temple "Fuyan Temple".
The temple is built on the mountain and covers an area of ??about four acres. The entire building is of brick and wood structure. The courtyard halls are Shanmen, Zhili Parlor, Yueshen Temple, Daxiong Hall, and Ancestral Hall. The first entrance is the mountain gate. The red wall surrounds the temple, and the mountain gate faces northeast.
Inscribed on the door: "The Court of the World", with couplets on both sides: "Ancient Temple of the Six Dynasties; Dojo of the Seventh Ancestor." The second entrance is the Zhili Living Room, with the door facing east. A couplet is engraved on the corridor: "Fuyan is the first ancient temple in Nanshan; Prajna is the only method of the ancestors." The couplet explains the history and status of the temple. The third entrance is the statue of the Yue God. There is a statue of the Yue God in the hall. According to records in "Nan Yue Zhi": "The empress Chen worshiped the statue of the Yue God. It was cast with 13,000 kilograms of copper, and three Buddhas were erected together, which lasted for thousands of years." Huang Tingjian, a great poet and calligrapher of the Song Dynasty, wrote in "Nan Xing Lu" It says: "There is a bronze statue of Yue Shen." The temple here is contrary to the norm. There is no statue of the Four Heavenly Kings, but there is a statue of the Yue God. According to "Nan Yue Zhi", it is said that Zen Master Huisi obtained this incense treasure land after defeating the Yue God in a chess game. In order to thank the God of the Mountains for giving him the land, he built a special hall in the temple as a place for the God of the Mountains to relax and stay and enjoy the incense of the world. Therefore, there is a statue of the Yue God. The fourth entrance is the Mahavira Hall. The Buddhist hall originally housed three bronze seated Buddhas cast during the reign of Empress Chen, but they no longer exist. The current Buddha statue on the lotus platform was reshaped in 1984. Climbing up the stone steps on both sides behind the main hall is the fifth entrance. There are three halls, namely the ancestral hall, the abbot's hall and the preaching hall. It is said that there is a gold plaque hanging in the sermon hall with the four words "Five Leaves Liu Fang" written on it. According to the "Chuan Deng Lu": Since the rise of the "Sudden Enlightenment Method" of the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, Hui Neng, and the creation of the Southern Sect, it has been vigorously promoted by the Seventh Patriarch Nanyue Huairang and Qingyuan Xingsi. The Southern Sect has become popular for a while, from the Five Dynasties to The late Tang Dynasty flourished. The Huairang lineage of Nanyue formed the Weiyang sect and Linji sect through Jingdao; the Qingyuan lineage started from Shitou Xiqian of Nanyue and formed the Caodong sect, Yunmen sect and Fayan sect. In this way, the two schools of Nanchan merge into five sects. In the history of Buddhism, it is called "one flower and five leaves". The "Five Leaves" all originated from Nanyue, and their followers are all over the world. Among them, Linji and Caodong sects were the most prosperous. It is known as "Linji spreads all over the world, Caodong Cao half the sky". As for Linji and Caodong sects. They all originate from Nanyue, which is the holy land of "Jidong Cave Source". Therefore, the dojo of Huairang, the seventh ancestor of Zen Buddhism, is praised as "the five leaves are fragrant".
On both sides of the temple are Zen rooms. Zhaitang, Xiangji Kitchen. The corridor connects the entire temple, with different levels and seamless integration. Outside the right side door of the temple, there is an ancient ginkgo tree with a history of more than 1,400 years. According to legend, it was ordained by monk Huisi and converted to Buddhism. The three ancient ginkgo trees in the mountain gate that were over a thousand years old were expelled from the temple because they violated Buddhist rules.
Fuyan Temple not only has ancient temples, ancient Buddhas, and ancient trees, but also has numerous famous monks throughout its history. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the Ten Years of Catastrophe, this ancient temple of the Six Dynasties was severely damaged. On the 19th day of the sixth lunar month in 1986, Fuyan Temple held a grand consecration ceremony for the newly sculpted Buddha statues, Guanyin, the Goddess of the Mountain, and Arhat. There are hundreds of Buddhists, laymen and tourists from home and abroad.
