Weekly Diary of a College Student’s Hotel Front Desk Internship

Internship is the starting point of anyone’s working career, and it is also an indispensable stage in the transition from student to working person. The following is the weekly internship diary of a hotel front desk internship for college students that I have carefully compiled for you. You are welcome to read it for your reference. Please pay attention for more exciting content.

The first week

On March 9, XX, it was my first day as an intern at the front desk of XX Hotel. Although an internship is not a real job, it is a starting point for anyone's working life and an indispensable stage in the transition from a student to a working person.

When I entered the hotel on the first day, everything felt strange and fresh. There were strange faces that I didn’t recognize, but they were all smiling and friendly. An enthusiastic colleague took me here and there, showed me the overall structure and various departments of the company, and introduced me to several colleagues. The week passed quickly. During this week, I tried to adapt myself to the environment faster and integrate into this large group faster, because only by handling the relationship with my boss and colleagues can I work well. of expansion.

Second Week

Last week I was mainly in a state where I needed to familiarize myself with the basic conditions of the hotel. At noon this Monday, I was taken to a kind-faced sister, and I was told that I would learn from her in the future, and I was very happy because my sister received me warmly and took me to have lunch with her. In the afternoon, my sister talked to me about her work profile and her main responsibilities. I kept it in mind because this may be the responsibility I will have in the future. This week, I seem to be relatively familiar with the people and things around me. I am not as overwhelmed as I was in the first week. Fortunately, I have met better colleagues who taught me a lot.

The third week

Quickly entering the third week, I am already familiar with the hotel environment, I can basically call my colleagues by name, and my work efficiency has also improved. Quite a bit, because when you go to a place to find something, you no longer have to look around here and there. It seems that integrating into the environment is very helpful for doing a good job. The main task this week is to learn to answer the phone and communicate with other companies on business matters. During the phone call, you will always encounter some difficulties. For example: I don’t know what the other person’s professional vocabulary means and I can’t communicate at all, so I can only write it down first and then ask my colleagues for advice. I will call the other person back later to give an accurate answer. It was in such a project that I gradually accumulated a lot of relevant knowledge from not understanding it to understanding it.

Week 4

On the afternoon of Thursday this week, the department manager said she would give us training. I thought she was going to give us some hotel knowledge, but she said the following: One sentence refuted my original guess. She said she just wanted to chat about our plans for the future and give us some of her personal suggestions. The department manager has worked in the hotel for five or six years and can be said to be very experienced. She has a unique perspective on life and speaks from her own experience. She told us that we must pay attention to learning English. Excellent English proficiency will increase our chances of success when we apply for jobs in the future. Even if you are applying for a job that is not in line with our major, even if you don’t know much about the professional knowledge, you are still likely to find a good job if you have strong English listening and speaking skills. In addition, it is also recommended that we learn some trades or continue further education to have a skill, thereby broadening our employment opportunities, so that it will not be so difficult to find a job.

Week 5

Because I just joined the company, I didn’t cover some important things. I think that only by starting from the most basic, accumulating bit by bit, doing every little thing I am responsible for, and letting leaders and colleagues feel at ease can I achieve a great cause in the future. In the morning, I can basically guarantee to arrive at the hotel early, and help clean up some time before starting work, so that everyone can work more comfortably, be in a happier mood, and teach me more things.

This week was basically spent in busyness and triviality, but although it was some trivial things, they were very different from those in school. I felt that every little thing required me to do it myself, and to pay for it through my own labor. The results are valuable and worthwhile.

Week Six

Studying at work, working while studying, learning and progressing, my internship period will soon be one and a half months. I have basically mastered the general work flow, and have been exposed to operations at the same time, such as accepting phone reservations, checking in to OK rooms, sending and receiving faxes, etc. Today the foreman asked me how long I planned to intern for, and I said maybe a few months. She asked me if I planned to stay in the hotel in the future. I really didn’t know how to answer her... Several of my colleagues planned to resign next month. , and many new people came. The turnover of people in the hotel is really high. No matter what, I do my part and do it to the best of my ability.
