Some points to pay attention to when staying in a hotel in Hong Kong.
You must pay attention to accommodation when you go to Hong Kong. So what should I pay attention to when staying in a Hong Kong hotel? Let me introduce you.
Guest room space:
Because Hong Kong is sparsely populated, the room space of three-and four-star hotels is not large, which is generally only 70% to 80% of that of similar hotels in China. However, in some two-and three-star hotels with lower reservation prices, only a few rooms such as aisles are left after two single beds are placed in the double room. Therefore, when booking low-cost hotels, we should be psychologically prepared in terms of room area, but the room area of hotels above four stars is mostly acceptable.
Hotel star rating:
There is no official agency or tourism agency in Hong Kong to evaluate the star rating. The stars introduced by travel agencies or booking media are determined by comparing with hotels in surrounding areas. When determining the star rating, some hotels may be higher. For example, a three-star hotel with a low booking price may actually be two-star in some aspects, while a general four-star hotel may have a big grade gap with a better four-star hotel. Among the five-star hotels, there are great differences between standard five-star hotels and internationally renowned five-star hotels.
Room items:
Like hotels in many parts of the world, there are many hotels in Hong Kong that don't store guests' necessities in their rooms, such as tea, toothbrushes, slippers and razors. In some hotels, guests can ask the Housekeeping Department (Housekeeping Department) for these items, but some low-cost hotels lack these items, especially those run by the church. This is quite different from the phenomenon that all kinds of necessities are available in hotels above three stars in China.
Local telephone:
Most hotels in Hong Kong charge for local calls, ranging from 5 yuan to 5 yuan per call from 2 yuan (unlimited time).
Pay TV:
Pay-TV systems are installed in most hotel rooms, and the pay-per-view programs include world classic business cards and adult movies, each ranging from 80- 120 yuan. Usually, after the guest turns on the pay TV screen, if 10- 15 minutes still does not turn to the channel, the hotel system will automatically charge.
Urban tourism:
Hotels with more than three stars in Hong Kong generally have tourist counters in the lobby or business center to provide consultation or registration services for local tours, including one-day tours in the city, night tours at sea or shopping groups. But it's usually a bit expensive to register at a hotel.
Check-in notes:
The front desk computer of Hong Kong hotels usually stores the reservation information of guests in English. If domestic travelers don't have a common English name or check in with the reservation form, they should first ask the staff of the reservation media for the English pinyin of their reservations, and then report the English pinyin of their names to the front desk staff when checking in. At the same time, like staying in a hotel in China, the front desk staff will ask the guests to pay another cash (or credit card) as a deposit for accommodation. When the guest checks out, the deposit will be refunded if there is no extra consumption at the hotel.
Sea view room:
As Hong Kong is a seaport city, many hotels are built along the coast, and most of the rooms in these hotels can enjoy the sea view. Generally, it costs 200-400 yuan more to book a sea view room in a higher-class hotel in Hong Kong, but some mid-range hotels charge a sea view room according to the standard room. Guests can ask the front desk staff to arrange a sea view room.
