Discovering North Korea, netizens’ experiences and experiences in North Korea
On the first night in North Korea, we stayed at the Yanggakdo Hotel, a special hotel in North Korea. Yanggakdo Hotel is located on an island on the Taedong River. Although the hotel was built a long time ago, the lobby is still very grand. From the upper floor of Yanggakdo Hotel, you can overlook the entire Pyongyang city.
Pyongyang is looming in the early morning, beautiful and subtle. After breakfast, we boarded the tour bus according to the prescribed time. What I learned about North Korea was mainly from the tour guides and what I saw outside the car. Although I read a lot of information on the Internet before coming to North Korea and knew something about the country, it still felt a little different when I was actually in this country.
North Korea implements a planned economy, although the infrastructure and supporting facilities in the city are underdeveloped. But medical education and housing are free for the people. Although the lives of the people here are not rich, they are very spiritually satisfied. Willow trees can often be seen on the streets of Pyongyang.
Our tour guide said that Pyongyang was called Ryugyong in the old days. The people in Pyongyang give people a feeling of leisure and busyness. People are walking in a hurry on the street and bicycles are speeding on the road. It is a bit like the feeling given by the movie "Hawthorn Tree Love". There are very few vehicles driving on the street and few products along the street, so the street looks clean, tidy and empty.
There are many high-rise buildings in Pyongyang, North Korea, but there are almost no billboards on the streets lined with high-rise buildings, only various slogans. The air here is also slightly humid, giving people a very comfortable feeling. At night, if you look up at the sky, you can see stars all over the sky. In the big cities in China, it is rare to see stars anymore.
