Do I need the original ID card to stay in a hotel in 2022?

In 2022, you can stay in a hotel without the original ID card.

1. I don't have an ID card but I have other valid documents to stay in the hotel. Valid identity documents include temporary id card, police officer's card, passport, driver's license, social security card and residence permit.

2. If you don't have the original ID card, you can try to provide an online ID card stored in electronic identity or your mobile phone. The legal effect of online ID card is the same as that of ID card.

3. You can go to the public security bureau or police station near the hotel to issue identification documents, or you can stay in the hotel with identification documents.
