Intercontinental Hangzhou is located in the central business district of Qianjiang New Town, Hangzhou, close to Qiantang River, which is famous for its tidal current. Civic Center, Inspur Cultural City and Hangzhou Grand Theatre are all close at hand. The hotel is close to the Citizen Center Station of Metro Line 4, and can directly reach the Train City Station, the East Railway Station, the West Lake Scenic Area and the business district.

This hotel was designed by CarlosOtt, a famous Canadian architect. The whole building is spherical in shape, with gold as the main color, just like a golden sun, echoing the crescent-shaped Hangzhou Grand Theatre opposite, which means "the sun and the moon shine together". With its unique shape, the hotel has become a striking landmark in Hangzhou.
