Traveling with an electric dad 2: The electric dad is indeed a dad, a short story about range anxiety

An electric dad is indeed an electric dad. On the fourth day of this pure electric train journey around the motherland, on the way from Hechi in Guangxi to Xiaoqikong in Guizhou, I deeply experienced a night of horror.

I’m still a little shocked when I think about it.

Okay, before introducing this little story, let’s first introduce the situation of the charging pile.

First, the distribution of charging piles.

At present, the construction intensity of charging piles varies across the country. My feeling is that in the Yangtze River Delta region, Shanghai and Zhejiang, there is basically no range anxiety problem. The charging piles in this area are too dense, so there is no need to worry at all.

Even in Lishui, the least developed place in Zhejiang Province, each county has a considerable number of charging piles.

Moreover, there are basically charging piles in the service areas on the highways in East China.

Starting from Shanghai to Jiangxi, there are many charging piles distributed.

But later I learned that many service areas on the highways in Guangxi and Guizhou did not have charging piles - this was the reason why I had a moment of shock.

Therefore, in the western region, the distribution of charging piles is relatively small. In Shangri-La (Diqing), where I plan to go, according to the map, there are less than 10 charging piles in the city a day.

There are no charging stations along the way from Diqing to Deqin County, where Meili Snow Mountain is located.

In short, the number of charging piles in the western region is still very small.

The second is to introduce the charging situation of charging piles.

The current charging piles are mainly those of the State Grid, and there are also some other brands of charging piles. As long as they meet national standards and follow certain procedures, charging piles can be built. After all, you can charge a fee and make a profit.

Therefore, the charging standards of various charging piles vary greatly.

Charging piles charged by State Grid are generally cheaper. For example, I went on a self-driving trip to Ningbo on the weekend in March and charged at the Xikou Tourism Distribution Center in Fenghua. The electricity was about 1.1 yuan per kilowatt hour. I passed through Tonglu County this time and charged at a charging pile of the State Grid here. 60 degrees, the cost is only 50 yuan.

Of course, the low cost is mainly due to charging at night and the use of radio waves at night.

It is also worth mentioning that DC charging piles generally charge quickly and can be fully charged in more than an hour. The DC pile in Tonglu took 10 hours to charge, which is almost the same as the slow AC pile.

Here are some photos of me charging the car along the way. This is in Lipu Service Area in Guilin.

This is a B&B I stayed at in Guilin’s Xingping Scenic Area, charging with a household socket and flying cable.

Ordinarily, with flying cable charging as the final guarantee, if it doesn’t work, just find a place to stay and slowly replenish the power.

However, the problem is that the charging efficiency of the flying cable is too slow, the power is only 1.2KW, and it takes more than 60 hours to fully charge. Therefore, flying lines can only be the last straw and cannot be used as a routine method.

Of course, in the end, I was able to save myself from this frightening trip thanks to the flying line.

Okay, with so much laid out, let’s talk about the most terrifying aspect of this trip: mileage anxiety.

The story takes place on the road from Guilin to Xiaoqikong, Guizhou. It is said that this trip is only about 450 kilometers, but in fact, a fully charged Han can completely run it.

But that night in the Lijiang Scenic Area, I originally planned to go to the slow charging station at Yangshuo High-speed Railway Station to charge, but the battery was charged. However, I wanted to take a taxi back to the hotel in the scenic area, but found that Yangshuo Station was empty at night. , I couldn't get a taxi, so I had to drive back again.

It was not fully charged this night. At that time, there was still 400 kilometers of battery life left.

The next morning we stayed in Xingping Scenic Area for half a day, and then set off to Xiaoqikong after lunch. So time is a bit tight. In order to rush for time, my plan was to drive until about 5 pm, then have a meal at the service area on the road, and fully charge the battery before walking the rest of the way.

The problem lies here. I didn’t notice that there are 12 service areas along the way, and none of them can be charged.

It can only be said that the construction of Guangxi Expressway Service Area still has a long way to go.

Later I learned that when I passed by Hechi City around 4:30 in the afternoon, it was my last chance to recharge my batteries. But I didn't get off the highway at that time. This is also to save time.

When there were still 120 kilometers of battery life left, I was a little panicked when I entered the service area and found that I couldn’t charge. When I went to the next service area with more than 60 kilometers of battery life left, there was still no charging pile. I was completely panicked.

What to do now?

At that time, I was really out of the way. I checked the map and found that the nearest charging pile was in Nandan County, and the distance was 40 kilometers. But at this time, the battery life is only 11%. As we all know, the last 10% of the electric car's battery life cannot be trusted. It is said to be able to run 60 kilometers, but in fact it may be discounted in half.

What if you fall asleep on the way there?

I don’t dare to bet.

So the only way is to get off the nearest expressway and find a place to stay and use a flying cable to charge.

This is the scene when I got off the highway. The battery has started to issue warnings.

It made me feel very angry.

According to the map, the nearest residential area is Chehe Town in Nandan County.

The 10-kilometer drive from getting off the highway to Chehe Town was really frightening to me.

I have been worried about whether the car will suddenly stall. Of course, this possibility is actually not high, but knowing it is one thing, and actually doing it is another. I didn't dare to drive too fast, so I tried my best to save power by driving as fast as possible. I drove this road for half an hour. During this period, the days really seemed like years, oh no, the minutes seemed like years.

I was so nervous on the road that I kept wanting to go to the toilet. I haven't felt this way for many years. I remember that I only felt like this when the results were announced after the high school monthly exam.

Fortunately, I finally drove to Chehe Town and found a small hotel to stay. By the way, use flying leads to replenish some electricity.

It must be a special fate that made me walk into this small western town that was not originally planned on this trip and walk into this slightly humble rural hotel.

What a special night.

After recharging the battery with a flying cable to 19%, I dared to drive to the county seat the next morning. But what if the charging piles in Nandan County don’t work? What to do?

I'm afraid I'll have to find a hotel to stay another night.

Fortunately, I finally found this charging pile at the Nandan County Public Security Bureau

Thank God.

I can finally go to Xiaoqikong, Guizhou.

This ends the story of charging anxiety.

The lesson this story taught me is that I can no longer trust the service area. In addition, it must be charged before the battery reaches 30%, and you cannot wait any longer. Use maps and information from all parties to make sure there are enough charging piles on the road behind.

I hope this is my last time to recharge my anxiety. There will be no more thrilling moments like this on the road ahead.

I also hope that the construction of charging piles in our country can continue to accelerate, accelerate, accelerate. We must ensure that every county has more than 20 charging piles, and we must ensure that there are charging piles on all highways, preferably There are charging stations in every gas station.

Let us pure electric car owners no longer have to worry about charging.
