Information about Sun Dashi.

Sun Dashi Art Museum is located on the west bank of Yuqiu Lake in Gaotang County. It was built by the people's governments of Sun Dashi and Gaotang County on 1982. Covering an area of 2088 square meters, with a building area of 1.200 square meters, it is an antique quadrangle building. The curved roof with gray tiles, gray-blue wall base and white main wall, with magenta waistline and eaves between them, embodies the simple and elegant architectural style. The museum is divided into East and Westinghouse, with exhibition hall, four-story hexagonal pavilion, corridor, monument wall, studio and so on.

There is a rich collection of Sun Dashi's paintings and calligraphy works in the art museum, with various genres, such as Chinese painting, watercolor painting and sketch.

There are not only various famous inkstones with different shapes and exquisite craftsmanship in the museum, but also the treasure of the town museum: the first inkstone in the world. This inkstone weighs 10 tons, 4.43 meters long and 2.62 meters wide. It is carved from a whole boulder, with 87 dragons carved. Other carvings include the Yellow River, the Great Wall, Ruiyun Military Division and Cangsong Pen Container. The whole giant inkstone symbolizes the long history, unity and greatness of the Chinese nation, which can be described as a profound artistic conception and a wonder of the world. This inkstone was carved by five Zhuo Qun sculptors, including Wei Xiyuan, designer and Liu of Xiyuan Stone Factory in Yixian County, Hebei Province, for three years. Wei and Liu have long heard of Mr. Wang's name and were moved by his paintings. In order to make this giant inkstone have a proper home, they volunteered to dedicate it to Sun Dashi Art Museum as a permanent memorial.

The museum has become one of the tourist attractions in our city, a comprehensive painting and calligraphy base integrating painting and calligraphy collection, painting and calligraphy exchange and painting and calligraphy exhibition, and an important window to publicize Jiangbei Watertown and Gaotang's hometown.
