Introduction to Zhongwu’s Zhongwu
Explanation of words:
Song Dynasty's "Geographical Map of the Past Dynasties" by Shuanli of the Song Dynasty is divided into three categories: Su (Suzhou in the Eastern Wu Dynasty), Chang (Changzhou in the Central Wu Dynasty), and Hu (Huzhou in the Western Wu Dynasty). The state is Sanwu.
On July 1, 1959, Mao Zedong wrote a seven-rhyme poem "Climbing Mount Lushan" in Lushan. There are two sentences in the middle: "Yellow cranes float across the clouds, and white smoke rises from three Wus below the waves." After the poem was published, Zhong Xuekun, a nurse at Lushan Sanatorium and who had done health care work for Mao Zedong at the time, wrote to Mao Zedong for advice because he did not understand what the "Nine Sects" and "Three Wus" referred to. On December 29, 1959, Mao Zedong wrote to Zhong Xuekun, saying: "Nine factions refer to the nine rivers in the three provinces of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi. There are different opinions on which nine rivers there are, so there is no need to go into details. The three Wus, in ancient times, were called Soochow in Suzhou and Changzhou in Zhongwu, Huzhou is Xiwu." It can be seen that when talking about "Zhongwu" since ancient times, it refers to Changzhou.
Another name for the old Suzhou Prefecture. First published in "Zhongwu Jiwen" by Gong Mingzhi of the Song Dynasty. "Yan Xun" written by Shun Zhi of the Ming and Tang Dynasties: "Sheren is good at the elegant rhymes of Zhong Wu, and the troubled chants of Xia Li." Wang Mingsheng of the Qing Dynasty's "Seventeen Histories·Book of Jin III": "The "Jiwen of Zhong Wu" written by Gong Ming of the Song Dynasty is specially taken from "Jiwen of Zhong Wu" "Historical Records·Xiang Yuji" "Ji Shuqiu Wuzhong", because of its literary style, it has a different name."
Another name for the old Zhenjiang Prefecture. Ming Dynasty Zhou Qi's "Name Examination": "Runzhou is also in Zhongwu." Runzhou is the ancient name of Zhenjiang Prefecture.
