Currently, Liuxing Street has been included in the scope of historical and cultural protection blocks by Yining City, and it wants to develop it uniformly through overall planning. There are a total of 850 households in the core reserve with a population of more than 2,000. At present, the traffic pressure in the neighborhood is very high, and a road needs to be built on the periphery to allow vehicles to pass outside the protected area in the future. How to develop and utilize the protected area is still under study. The development of Liuxing Street lags behind that of Yining’s new downtown area. The repairs of many buildings in the sub-blocks are haphazard and require overall planning and guidance. The value of Six Star Street has not been fully explored and no special research has been set up to deeply explore what role this block should play in the city in the future. The courtyard buildings and folk life scenes with different national styles are the most worth exploring cultural products of Liuxing Street.

In 2009, the Yining Municipal Party Committee and Government invested 44.4 million yuan to update Liuxing Street on the basis of protecting the overall appearance of Liuxing Street. During the renovation process, no major demolition or construction was carried out except for the demolition of certain places, thus protecting the original style and characteristics of the neighborhood to the greatest extent. On February 1, 2010, Liuxing Street was officially named a historical and cultural district by the General Office of the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. This is also another large-scale tourist block with rich ethnic customs and profound history and culture after Yining City successfully built the Kazanqi Folk Tourism Area.
