10 Excellent B&B Hotel Cases

- Shishishan·Xiangsu Hotel-

Shishishan·Xiangsu Hotel is located in Jizhou, Tianjin District, the site is surrounded by mountains on three sides, far away from the hustle and bustle of the urban area. Different from the cold and dry weather in the north, there is more rain here, and the microclimate is humid and pleasant, just like the feeling of being in the south of the Yangtze River.

The owner hopes to return to the rural life with curls of mountain smoke, create a natural and simple living environment, and awaken the original simplicity and happiness.

The hotel covers an area of ??12,660 square meters, including 49 guest rooms and service facilities such as local restaurants, conference rooms, book bars, outdoor swimming pools, outdoor barbecues, children's playgrounds, and parent-child farming gardens.

The project landscape design is extended on the basis of "leaf-shaped" architectural symbols, using plant symbols such as leaves, bamboos, and rattans as landscape elements, and using natural materials such as rough stones, natural antiseptic wood, thatch, and vitex. The basis for gardening.

With the moonlight, the mirror-like waterscape reflects the beauty of the surrounding mountains and forests, making it dreamlike.

The designer created a leaf-shaped outdoor swimming pool, which is rare in the north, echoing the architectural style and adding a touch of fun to the leisure area.

The "township family room" seems to be a small world hidden among thousands of acres of forest.

Pushing open the rattan courtyard door immediately brings a sense of intimacy and home. The guest room is backed by a mountain, and the windows become natural viewing frames. Each window has a different scenery.

Since there is no municipal rainwater pipe network inside and outside the site, the designer designed a dry stream between the "Leaf Guest Room" and the "Independent Courtyard Family Room". Solving the problem of rainwater collection and drainage in a landscape way also enriches the hotel's ecosystem.

- GEEMU Hotel-

GEEMU Hotel advocates parent-child interaction, local cultural experience and multiple business formats. A small integrated boutique resort community located in Yangshuo, Guangxi, which was transformed from a rough residential house.

The view to the southwest of the site is relatively wide, but the north side is close to the mountain and even a little cramped. The concentrated and large buildings are also a bit out of place compared to the low and scattered adobe houses around it.

The site conditions are unstable, and the land use scope and ownership relationships are constantly changing. Therefore, the design responds from the inside out based on relatively certain elements. Coupled with the current structural limitations, the original main part of the building continues to host the main residence. Function, the new functional requirements are overflowed from the original volume in a small way, which reduces the original volume while talking to the surrounding residential buildings.

The main facade of the building is made of washed stone, and the small blocks are distinguished and strengthened by using the color of the adobe bricks after the paper reinforcement and ash of the local old houses were peeled off.

The first floor of the project continues the blur and transparency between indoor and outdoor areas, concentrating service functions such as the front desk and restaurant on the west side, maximizing the presentation of a complete and open public space.

There is little room for modification of the existing load-bearing brick walls above the first floor. In order to enrich the room types, the design team divided the middle room equally and divided it on both sides, leaving half of the room for children. Separate bedrooms and play spaces form a parent-child living experience with infiltration of primary and secondary spaces.

The rich relationship between the interior and the environment is shaped through the combination of walls, glass, glass bricks and other materials.

Adding an atrium in the vertical direction for connection also changes the flatness of the plane. With the help of two sets of long slides, the atrium is organized into another dynamic activity center. Children and adults can quickly shuttle between the 2-4 floors, and the fixed relationship formed by the "stairwell-corridor" is broken.

Building blocks are not limited to children. It hopes to use space to stimulate curiosity and social interaction, convey clear attitudes and details, and depict the play and aesthetic tastes of adults and children.

- Buyuan B&B·Xinyu Qingli-

This is Following Buyuan B&B Nanhao Street, it is the second design B&B targeting young people as its customer base. As a four-story B&B with a total area of ??411 square meters, the owner needs more guest rooms to handle the increasing passenger flow.

The building is surrounded by old-fashioned residential buildings. In order to make it echo the atmosphere of the surrounding residential environment, the original blue bricks with a historical texture are deliberately retained.

In addition, in terms of the position and depth of the doors and windows on the exterior facade, the design team made fine adjustments in units of tens of centimeters based on the proportion of the entire building and the interior layout, so that the indoor view is open and the lighting is sufficient.

The replacement of the metal window frames and the deepening of the depth add a sense of spatial immersion to the B&B.

The original indoor beams, columns and other concrete structures are clean and simple.

The designer tried to expose the concrete structure of the original building as part of the interior design, choosing basswood plywood as the interior material of the guest rooms, and using eucalyptus plywood in the public areas to highlight Concrete structure.

- Farno·Mogan Bookstore-

This part was designed by gad·line studio Submit

The project is located at the eastern foothills of Mogan Mountain in Deqing City. It was born between five native valleys. The base retains the existing farmland texture and the long and transparent valley view. The corridor is characterized by the original rice fields, creating a field charm of criss-crossing paths in the valley.

Faced with the unique natural resources of the land, the design team created a rural living experience.

The project consists of a bookstore with an area of ??140 square meters and 7 guest rooms. The bookstore provides cultural space and public social space for rural life.

The corner space of the bookstore design is opened. The interior and exterior spaces are completely integrated, while also having the best view towards the farmland. Thick plank folding roof. The structure adopts an overall thick plate structure to achieve a large space without beams to ensure the freedom and purity of the space.

The interior space of the bookstore strengthens the concept of "cantilevered roof" expressed in architecture and structure.

In terms of material use, wood grain veneer is extensively used in the “background” part to increase affinity and integrity.

According to the terrain, the guest rooms are spread out with the largest landscape facing the farmland and mountains, and low-rise, small-scale building volumes are selected to restore the rural style.

The roof of the single building of the guest room adopts the traditional double-slope roof shape, but is interpreted using modern materials and craftsmanship.

The main tone of the wall materials is simple rammed earth, rough stone, and bamboo and wood wall panels, emphasizing the sense of growth and locality of the building.

Retaining the inward extension of part of the exterior materials and texture of the building, the exterior walls are treated with rammed earth texture paint and applied to the facade decoration, reflecting a special charm that is different from urban hotels.

- Renovation of Shangui Boutique Hotel -

This case is provided by Ordinary Design

This project is located in the old printing factory of the Loquat Mountain Back Street Film and Television Industrial Park in Yuzhong District, Chongqing. The two main buildings conform to the terrain, one in front of the other and located in an orderly manner on the slope. , facing the majestic Yangtze River, overlooking the oasis between the two bridges, and enjoying the city skyline.

The designer combined film and television cultural creativity and the existing wedding photography industry to create an artistic and aesthetic space for young people on the theme of "love". This positioning also echoes the Mont Mirage Hotel's Brand tone.

The dancing skirt of the bride’s wedding dress is a wonderful classic scene; if the old building is compared to the bride to be married, the task of the design team is to design a suitable wedding dress for it, which is light and soft. The ground connects two old buildings, which also gives the old factory space a new look.

The "skirt" composed of thin shell structure and metal curtain wall creates an open service space on the first floor that gathers hotel reception, rest and multi-functional halls. It floats as the top, falls as the curtain, rises as the hall, and descends as the hall Shen serves as a ladder, and tourists can walk on the skirt, forming a varied viewing path and restoring the spatial experience of a mountain city.

The updated design of the old factory building combines drastic creative changes with careful preservation of historical memories, coexisting the old and the new.

The newly built part is like a canvas, white and light; it contrasts with the coarse old walls or exposed cement beams and columns.

The lighting patio in the atrium water courtyard and the roof skylight in the auditorium not only supplement the lighting, the slender and orderly geometric shapes also outline an abstract light and shadow matrix, leading the soul to the stars.

- Cryptomeria Humane Art Hotel -

Design Company: Chongqing Juxiang Decoration Design

This project is located in Beimen Village, Heigu Valley Scenic Area, Wansheng District, Chongqing, covering an area of ??approximately 4,900 square meters. The original site of the project was a local rural primary school. Just like most of the schools in China today, due to the loss of students, it stood abandoned and quietly hidden in the middle of the mountain.

There is a row of neat cedar trees between the main teaching building and the playground, which have grown closely with the school for decades. When the sun shines through them, the natural beauty of the interweaving light is impressive, thus giving the entire The project is named "IN BETWEEN".

General Plan

In the overall planning and design, combined with the structure of the site's dynamic and static distribution, two functions are added to the left and right sides, namely the hotel living room and the library, and the main building in the middle. The design plans the accommodation function of 25 rooms.

In terms of architectural design techniques, the height difference of the site is used to adopt a "geophilic" architectural form, which not only visualizes the natural structure, but also expresses the belonging to the earth and the "freedom" in the space. sex".

The purity of the building extends indoors, integrating the inside and outside. The planning of the space is clever and subtle, blending suppression and release.

Since the main building is a brick-concrete structure, the room planning can only be carefully demolished and built based on the classroom layout. The wide passage outside the original classroom has been turned into a balcony of the room, equipped with a bathtub and a lounge chair. Facing the cedar tree, you can spend the whole day in silence.

- Xi'an Sifangli B&B-

Design company: Yuan Architectural Design Studio

The Minleyuan area within the Ming City Wall in Xi'an was completely demolished and transformed into a mixed commercial and residential urban block in 2009. The owner proposed to transform a 40-square-meter apartment into a B&B.

The project has a traditional one-bedroom, one-living room, with a rectangular layout and an east-west orientation. The core issue facing the design is how to create rich and changing scales in a single space, thereby giving the B&B a special living experience.

The designer first removed the non-load-bearing partition wall of the bathroom to reduce its area and release more space for the public area.

Secondly, the non-load-bearing partition wall of the kitchen was removed, and the masonry worktop was built to define the space boundary and give this boundary a double meaning.

Finally, the design team placed a complete “excavated” furniture volume close to the entrance to achieve the spatial goal of “walking and stopping”.

The large opening near the entrance is combined with the living room to form a sofa area. Seats of different depths allow people to choose to sit, lean or lie in them and watch the video screen projected on the wall;

Entering the outdoor party area, the arched structure Styling walls add ornamental value to the space and at the same time create good interaction with people.

Stepping into the interior, the arched elements and geometric blocks complement each other, making the space appear full and layered. At the same time, the beige paint and wood decoration make the space soft and high-end, making it feel as warm as home. It is as majestic as a castle.

- Dalezhiye B&B-

The project is located on the bank of the Yellow River Next, the design team hopes to hide the building from nature and achieve a balance between architecture and nature with modesty and awe.

The architecture basically follows the local residential style, with bungalows, terraces, courtyards, and reed pole verandahs, extending more possibilities for indoor activities to the outdoors.

On the exterior walls, the designer used a special process of cement mortar plastering to restore the architectural texture of local rammed earth walls. This creates an "old" that seems to be close to but not broken after being exposed to wind, rain and sunshine for a long time.

The landscape surface is equipped with large-scale floor-to-ceiling windows, while other facades have window openings that are as controlled as possible like local buildings.

The role of light is fully considered in the design of interior space. Light is shadow. When the minimalist interior decoration and colors are hidden in the thickness of the space, only light and shadow symphony on the walls and ground. , constructing the spirituality of light and place, inspiring people's strong emotional resonance.

- Dali Nineteen Mountains -

This case is provided by wutopia lab

Designed The team accepted the commission from a friend and spent about three years completing the best B&B based on ink and wash in Dali Haidongfang. (The following is the designer’s self-report)

Standing in the demolished villa, it is easy to reach consciousness. That is, every room cannot be cramped, and every room must face Erhai Lake.

Facing the shining Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, any decoration is artificial.

Those regional creations or the accumulation of national objects are redundant. Do subtraction. This is the first step to live a free life without any ties.

The windows must be opened to the maximum, and the aluminum mullions that block the view must be dimmed, and the cost must be increased at all costs, because the first priority is to make the scenery the protagonist of the room without obstruction.

The room should be empty and the functions and decorations should be reduced to just enough.

The guest room foyer, cloakroom and bathroom are carefully hidden behind a continuous screen wall. The abstract ink landscape on the screen clearly echoes Cangshan Mountain. I hope guests can just sit or lie down among the mountains and rivers. Being free from unnecessary thoughts and possessions is freedom.

"White rejects all colors that are inferior to itself, and almost everything surrenders to it." But if I use all black, the depressing black will turn the mood of admiring the scenery into jealousy and dissatisfaction.

I use different textures of black, including paint, metallic paint, flooring, and basalt, to make the door, front desk, kitchen, tea room, public space, courtyard and guest room floors continue into a layer-by-layer blur. black screen.

On the slopes, I suggest you stop for a moment. Then the silent black door was pushed open, and fragments of sunlight shone on the black ground. Erhai Lake lay there peacefully.

After opening, there is a black foyer blocked by a screen. Light has filtered in, and there seems to be the sound of butterfly wings flapping in the air.

You can’t wait to open the door, yes, Erhai can’t wait to jump in.

Each arch should be changed according to a column span, which looks restrained and lively compared with the surrounding buildings. The facade hides the urge to worship indoors, standing on the hillside with a calm smile, and freedom behind it.
