What are the main features of Basel Port?
Basel is an important port on the Rhine River and the only port for landlocked Switzerland to communicate with the outside world. Most of Switzerland's foreign trade passes through here. Basel is the second largest city after Suez, and its chemical industry is developed, including medicine, dyes, chemical fiber and other industries. Basel still maintains the tranquility and peace of the ancient city. Some houses on both sides of the street had the same style one or two hundred years ago. Ancient castles, ancient churches, old hotels and small hotels are all antique, which is a good place for tourists to visit ancient times. At present, Switzerland is committed to developing water resources in the upper reaches of the Rhine River so that it can be used for shipping. A huge plan is to dig several canals and cross the Alley River in Switzerland. The Valle River is connected with Suez Lake, Neuchatel Lake, Geneva Lake and Lemont Lake in Lausanne to form an inland river shipping network. After the completion of this project, Switzerland, a world-famous tourist country, will have more beautiful scenery. The middle reaches are from Basel to Bonn, Germany. According to hydrological characteristics and basin conditions, it can be divided into two sections: Upper Rhine Lowland and Rhine Canyon. From Basel to Bingen, the water flows through a wide stepped valley, the river bends, and tributaries such as neckar and Main River inject people. This is a famous Upper Rhine lowland. From Bingen to Bonn, the mountains on both banks overlap, the river course twists and turns, the riverbed is narrow, and the velocity increases. The Mo Ze River enters the left bank, which is called the Rhine Canyon. The climate here is mild, the soil is fertile, and agriculture is developed, especially grape planting. Grapes along the coast stretch for more than 100 kilometers, forming a huge vineyard. Therefore, it is called the "grape road" in Germany.
