The origin of Longquanyi District in Chengdu

Longquanyi was built with a postal pavilion in the Han Dynasty and a post office in the Tang Dynasty. It was changed to red in the Yuan Dynasty and was called "Post Station" in the Ming Dynasty. It was originally called "Longquanyi".

In the Tang Dynasty, Dongyang County and Lingchi County were governed ("Sichuan County Chronicles", "Yuanfeng Jiuyu Chronicles" and "Chinese Historical Atlas").

Lingchi County is named after a spring pond called "Lingchi" on the side of the mountain in the south of the county.

In the Song Dynasty, it was called "Wangdian", and Lingchi County was changed to Lingquan County; Wangdian was the administrative area of ??Lingquan County ("Taiping Huanyu Ji").

Fendong Mountain was also renamed "Lingquan Mountain" with the change of county name until the Yuan Dynasty.

In the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed "Longquan" and a post station was set up here. It was originally called "Longquan Post".

In the sixth year of Hongwu (1373), Lingquan County of the province was merged into Jian County, and Longquan Town was later established ("Chinese Historical Atlas").

In the eighth year of Zhengde (1513), the Inspection Department of Longquan Town ("Jianyang County Chronicle" and "Sichuan County Chronicle") was established.

During the same period, Lingquan Mountain was also renamed "Longquan Mountain", which is still used today.

In the sixth year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign (1667), the Qing Dynasty continued to set up large-scale post stations in Sichuan, which were divided into four roads: North, South, East and West. “The East Road starts from Longquanyi in Jianzhou to Fengjie Xiao. "Qiaoyi" ("General History of Sichuan").

The "Longquanyi" in this issue is not only the name of the inn, but also has the meaning of a geographical name.

After the rise of the postal and telecommunications industry in the late Qing Dynasty, the post station was abandoned, and "Longquanyi" became a historical place name and is still in use today.

In January 1956, when the original Jianyang County named its districts, the name of the district was based on the name of the district office and was called "Longquanyi District of Jianyang County".

In 1959, when it was placed under the jurisdiction of Chengdu City to prepare for the establishment of a new district, Longquanyi, the seat of the District People's Committee, was still named the district, and was called "Chengdu Longquanyi District".
