Duke Wen sighed and caressed the tree, so he thought he was clogs." It can be seen that the "slippers" originally recorded in history books were just out of respect for the deceased. The condolences have nothing to do with leisure. "Guadaban'er" was first popular in the Southern and Northern Dynasties of my country. Xie Lingyun once modified it, so it is also called "Xie Gongban'er". Li Bai's "Sleepwalking Tianmu Yin Liu Farewell" has a sentence: "Wearing Xie Gong's clogs on our feet, we climb the Qingyun Staircase", which refers to this kind of wooden clogs. The passionate young man Jia Baoyu in "A Dream of Red Mansions" often wears this kind of wooden slippers. As for how clogs spread among the people and traveled across the ocean to Japan, it is unclear. From the perspective of common people, some unofficial historians say that clogs are "used everywhere when it rains, including the Fujian people. The Cantonese people wear them regardless of rain or shine, regardless of gender." By the time of the Qing Dynasty, "during the reigns of Guangxu and Xuantong, men and women in Shanghai were always fond of dancing in the summer." This was already a modern thing.
